Horrible

I have contacted VRBO and sent pictures of the property. We had mice and the house is in disrepair. In need of MAJOR work.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful

We could have just stayed at the Palacio for the entire week without our day trips! It was an enormous with space for 4 of us to spread out across the whole property. Close to mtn bike trails, and the water park, but it’s perched at the top of a mighty steep hill, so bring your hiking shoes if you don’t have a car. Be ready for lots of silk flowers and brass vases. Definitely represents an era. It wasn’t a problem for us, but renters should be aware that all bedrooms are open to the main house - nothing is entirely private. We would 100% stay again.

Spring Break Get Away

This is a great place to stay if you are all about privacy, space and room for kids to play. If you want the coolest, most up to date place this is not for you. We embraced the "kitch" factor and loved the abundant amount of space for the kids to run and play. Worked well for our spring "covid" get away.

Wakadoodle Wonderful!

Our family had a fantastic stay in this whimsical home! A bit dated furnishings and crazy decor like giant brass alligators, toucans and elephants. However, plenty of space, great pool and Jacuzzi, and easy to get to the Hilton next door to use water slide and lazy river. The beds very comfortable. It was too hot to use volleyball court and fire pits but I can imagine how fun it would be to have those amenities another time of year. Griffin and Rich were wonderful to work with and were willing to take the steps to make sure we had what we needed for a fantastic stay. Guests should be aware that ALL bedrooms are open "loft style". Meaning NO sound privacy! Imagine looking through a window out of each bedroom to the areas down below but there is no glass division there. Completely open. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely would return!

Beautiful location, house needs attention

The reviews of this home are misleading. First, and most disappointing to us, are the black-out dates for when Palacio guests can have access to the Hilton water park. March & April are completely blacked out, however we were told there may be availability depending upon occupancy at the Pointe Hilton. Upon arrival, we learned that regardless of occupancy at the Hilton, March and April are blacked out with no possibility of purchasing tickets. Second, although the home decor is dated as previously reviewed, it is dusty, packed with 100+ silk plants and flower arrangements covered in dust. The couch in the living room caused an asthma attack. This house has many great qualities but the dusty old furniture was not one of them. In addition, there is a prevailing level of neglect about the house. The pool has several missing tiles, needs resurfaced, the hot tub was murky, and the pool bar smelled like an old keg. The wrought iron chairs, although pretty, were uncomfortable with disintegrating cushions. These same disintegrating cushions are on the lounge chairs making the lounge chairs unusable. The mismatched sheets on the beds were old and the towels (some with holes in them) had seen better days too. Also, I wish the open air concept of this house had been described better. Every room is a loft so there is no privacy at all. We had to go outside when the kids were sleeping so we wouldn't wake them. All this being said, the grounds and views are beautiful. Griffin was very prompt with all our requests and as helpful as she could be. Sergio was very nice and helpful with housekeeping needs.

Look no further. Stay here. You won't regret it.

Pictures cannot completely convey the grandiose Pointe Palacio. If you are looking for a place to stay with family or friends and are looking for a relaxing, private, unique home-base, look no further. It truly is an estate. There are two look-out spots that capture incredible 360 views of Phoenix, one of which we didn't even get to until the day we left. The pool and spa are perfect for lounging and situated next to the BBQ. The volleyball court on the lower level was the surprising gem of the property and we played multiple games of volleyball on the perfectly manicured grass. We loved the charm of the entire feeling of the interior. If you're looking for something brand new, there are plenty of available other options for you. But, if you're like us, and wanted something functional with charm, character, you literally will not find another gem like this. The open layout is great for entertaining. The area is remarkably private and we felt safe and secure. It was an absolute pleasure working with Griffin and Rich and both were very accommodating and invested in our group enjoying our stay. We can't wait for our next stay at The Pointe Palacio!

Wonderfully Unique Home

Our family of four (two adults and two teenage boys) loved this unique home. Perched on a hilltop, the views from the lookouts were awesome. The boys loved playing basketball in the pool and exploring all of the hidden features. Griffin was a wonderful host who was available to assist at all times. Thanks for a fun trip.

Couldn't be more perfect for a guys trip

This place is awesomely unique. We came out to celebrate my last days as a single man, as well as enjoy the golf tournament. It was the one of the few places reasonably priced, and the only place that offered a flexible cancellation policy. The place may need a little TLC to restore it to its glory days but was still very well kept. There are too many cool features about the house to talk about on a review. It is actually more fun to discover them for yourself. But to give an example we did not discover the full sized volleyball court until day 2. There is also a plaque that lists a ton of famous people who had been there over the years which was quite impressive. Griffin was awesome to work with. She was super responsive about everything. She was also able to setup air mattresses so we didn't have to sleep two to a bed. If you are going to rent this place I would say definitely go hit up the lazy river for a lap or two. We will rent again!

Simply wonderful!

We spent one glorious weekend at Pointe Palacio as a bachelorette celebration slumber party. All the amenities, the grounds, so many comfortable gathering spots, we never left the premises, except for sunset hikes up to the private hilltop. Griffin and Rich, thank you both so much!

Wonderfully Unique and Amazing Estate for All Purposes

The home and experience we had there was absolutely fantastic. The photos of the home on VRBO simply do not do it justice- especially the grounds. The grounds are like a hidden oasis in the desert. On the "main level" there is a swimming pool (complete with basketball hoop, swim up sunken bar, bbq) and approximately 1000 sf of covered terrace surrounding a large water fountain. The second level below, and literally carved out of the hillside, is a large grassy area (suitable for volleyball, badminton, and our favorite "Nerf gun wars") and a sunken fire pit which easily sits 12 people and is perfect for roasting marshmallows. There are also two promontories on the property - one faces east and the other west- the east facing promontory is a steep climb, but well worth it, as it has another fire pit and affords 360 views (which honestly, probably isn't available anywhere else in the area), the second promontory is off of the private terrace of the master suite, and also has a fire pit and table, and is perfect for watching the sunset. The interior of the home probably has the best layout (for the square footage) for entertaining in a private residence that I've ever experienced - large living room comfortable for 8 adults, sunken bar and conversation pit for 6, dining room for 8, and a "great room" for another 10, and that doesn't include all of the seating available on the multiple terraces and pool area. I didn't have that many people in the home at once- but it was easy to accommodate 20 people for a brunch and then seamlessly transfer to a pool party and bbq for a bunch of high school seniors. If you want everything new and perfect- this isn't the place for you- the kitchen is original (but still highly functional) and the entertainment/sound system may not be what you would expect for an estate of this quality. However, with a house full of teenagers and tweens, not one of the televisions was turned on for a period of three days- so it wasn't like there wasn't anything to do. As my schedule and funds allow, I will be returning to the property, and might even make it an annual family event-such were the incredible memories that were created. There are two "conditions" of the property that should be noted: 1) To fully enjoy the property, you are going to to A LOT of climbing- those that do not move so well may want to look elsewhere. 2) The driveway and parking can be challenging to navigate for less than experienced drivers-.

1970's Dream House

This rental is absolutely fantastic. The photos do not do this place justice. It's like the perfect Central Phoenix rental locked in time circa 1970's era with a Rat Pack vibe, and is extremely well maintained. It has so many little nooks & little rooms to enjoy. I love the sunken bars, especially the one in the pool! It makes for a great barbecue set-up or pool party. It has an additional grassy knoll that would be perfect for a luncheon or outdoor dinner party. Additionally, there are two little paths up to the top of the two "mountains" that this house is nestled between that each have tables & chairs, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine at sunset. The ambiance of the entire place is enchanting & secluded & I never wanted to leave. When I first found the rental, I was somewhat skeptical as I was originally looking for something more modern, but the reviews calmed any of my worries & I am SO happy that they did. I would return here in a heartbeat!! The host of the home is also wonderful & extremely helpful & attentive. All of your needs will be met at the Palacio!

What moore can one say...

This was an absolutely wonderful trip. The place was perfect! Incredible views with unmatched amenities. We lived, played and partied all right there. From the pool to the hottub to the multiple hilltop firepits and couple that with all the resort previlages. Our biggest challenge was getting away from the property to take in all the other things Phoenix and Arizona has to offer. The kids simply did not want to leave to go anywhere else. We even cooked and grilled most of our meals right there at the home. We did venture down to Aunt Chalidas, what a wonderful dinner and great margaritas! The family is all in for this trip again! Also the location is perfectly located for easy access all around the Phoenix area. Our host were very accomodating and helpful. This is certainly a property we will return to and would highly recommend. Many thanks for all the wonderful memories.

This place needs updating

The best part about this place was the pool. Our kids loved the basketball hoop and spent hours in the water. The rest of the home leaves much to be desired. I can see how it was great back in the 80s, but it doesn't appear to have been updated since then. There are numerous broken pots of fake plants, musty smelling window treatments and it is in dire need of a paint job. We enjoyed the use of the resort waterpark and basketball courts. Aunt Chiladas was a good, authentic place to eat.

Once again, we loved our stay

We love the charm, originality, and privacy of the house. The landscaping provides fantastic shade during the hot Phoenix summers, and the pool (with swim-up bar) is awesomely refreshing. The master bedroom and bathroom are luxurious and well-designed. Access to the resort facilities is a huge plus (the kids loved the lazy river). The views of downtown and surrounding areas from the multiple vantage points cannot be overstated. This was our second stay, and most definitely won't be our last. If the home ever goes up for sale, we would seriously consider making an offer. All in all, highly recommended.

Fabulous, Funky House with Never Ending views

We (three couples from Orange County) were looking for a place to stay for a quick, spring training weekend. We had an absolutely terrific time staying at this home. There are so many spots to sit and have a meal or a cocktail. Our two days/nights there didn't leave enough time to try them all! We had cocktails and appetizers while watching the sunset from one of the two eating areas that you can climb to (rock stairways provided) with 360 degree, unbelievable views of Phoenix. We ate our breakfasts in the backyard patio by the pool, right off the kitchen. We enjoyed the pool basketball (perfect play pool - maybe 4 1/2 feet deep) one afternoon and the Jacuzzi was always heated due to the second, separate pool heater. Some of the patio furniture pads/umbrellas were a bit worn, but it was so nice to have pads on everything. This is not a renovated "granite countertop" house but rather this is an authentic 80s home with beautiful Mexican tiles throughout. Lots of small gathering rooms, bars and places to relax and visit in this eclectic home. The sunken living room boasts a beautiful piano which was an extra bonus for us. We all enjoy bicycling and had brought our bikes. The Phoenix Mountain Preserve is within 1/4 mile of the home for the more hardy mountain bikers while there is a great "canal trail" (nearly level, dirt/paved trail) that you can ride to from the home for a relaxing 8-mile ride to Scottsdale for lunch. We walked to a delicious Italian dinner one evening and BBQ'd right in the backyard the second night. Didn't have to get the cars out until time to go. The inside architecture is interesting in that the bedrooms are not completely private (some walls do not go to ceilings) which we thought was kind of quirky but it didn't hamper our weekend in the least. The only item I'd change about the entire house is to change to white sheets and light comforters on the beds for an updated, clean feel. Don't get me wrong, the linens were clean and coordinating and did fit in to the 80s theme perfect. As we were leaving Sunday, we realized there were two patios we hadn't even used, both with beautiful views and patio furniture. We will have to come back!

Amazing property!

We were thrilled with this property! It's huge with many levels and areas to get away to. We loved having breakfast on the sunny patio outside the master bedroom in the mornings, lounging at the pool during the day and very relaxing evenings in the hot tub in the evenings. Great character throughout with all the fabulous multi-coloured tiles! The climb to the top of the hill will reward you with a fantastic view. Shoni was a pleasure to deal with and Rich was very gracious showing us around. A very lovely experience!

Fantastic, secluded getaway!

We found this property to be perfect for a much-needed respite. Although there were only the two of us, there was plenty of room for additional friends or family. The house is well-appointed. We chose to prepare most of our meals there. Much of our time was spent lounging at the pool and sipping beverages in the hot tub or beside one of the firepits. I cannot imagine a more comfortable, relaxing setting in which to recover from a hectic business schedule. The local "host/greeter" was gracious, helpful and available for questions throughout our stay. We did not utilize the resources of the Hilton resort but the amenities - spa, restaurants, water park - seemed wonderful for those desiring a bit more pampering. If you want a wonderful escape, complete with your secluded pool, hot tub and a choice of firepits perched on a hilltop overlooking Phoenix, this is perfect.

A weekend to remember

Honestly can not say enough good things about this property! The house it's self is great but I think the old school decor really adds character and charm to a property most say needs to be "updated". If you're renting this house it's not to stay inside, it's to sit on the many patios and lookout points with breathtaking views. There were 7 women staying in this house and I can guarantee we will all be back again soon!

Great stay at The Pointe!

Our family recently enjoyed a one week stay at The Pointe. The property was beautiful, clean and exactly as described. We enjoyed the pool, grill, outdoor areas and amazing views of Phoenix all around the property. Upon arrival we were met by the property owner's representative who graciously showed us around the home and answered all of our questions. During our stay we enjoyed hiking, Phoenix Science Center, the Zoo and Botanical Gardens. It was great to be able to relax and enjoy the sun and outdoors in such a lovely home. We would definitely recommend this property to others. Thanks!

The Pointe Palacio Estate in Phoenix, AZ

My wife and I, along with our 21 year old daughter and three of her friends, spent a week at the Pointe Palacio Estate in Phoenix, AZ in early March, 2013. We were there to enjoy the weather and see some spring baseball, we are from Wisconsin. We greatly enjoyed the estate, would recommend it for other travelers, and would consider a stay there again in the future. It is a unique rental property: a large home on a private drive, adjacent to a Hilton resort. It sits on a hill with great views of the valley, and great landscaped access to two points of view with fire pits. The back contains a nice pool and hot tub, and there is an area to play volleyball/badminton. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, and the living areas very nicely decorated and luxurious. The motif is southwestern terracotta, very unique for us. It was located an easy drive from all that we wanted to see and do in the Phoenix area. The kitchen was a bit outdated and could use some renovation, and some increased kitchenware for guests. We made use of the resort facilities, but the relationship between the guests at the estate and the resort seemed confusing to us. One most occasions when we identified ourselves to use the resort water park we were welcomed, but on our final trip there we were told that we did not have approved access. I would recommend the managers of the rental property better confirm the relationship with the resort management and provide better written instructions to the guests. Also, some written information for guests regarding local recommendations for dining might have been nice. But these are minor suggestions, I am convinced you will find your stay here memorable and I highly recommend the property.
