About this property

Gorgeous one-of-a-kind mountain cabin in WNC on spectacular property.

Located near Lake Summit in the camp town of Tuxedo, North Carolina, Evergreen Lakes is a one-of-a-kind piece of property in the mountains of Western North Carolina. With a spring-fed lake dating back to the mid-1800s, a fishing lake above it, and a small waterfall in between, this mountain cabin getaway is the perfect place to escape, explore, and relax. Get lost in the twenty-acres of woods, wade in the creeks, and if you're brave enough, hike to the Green River. There's a map in the kitchen.

Situated on top of a hill overlooking a three-acre lake and a one acre lake, this four-thousand square foot home contains all the comforts of modern life, but with the feel and look of a rustic mountain cabin -- unique wood paneling and large open spaces throughout. One level living at its finest, but a family mountain home at its core. This is our treasured home where we grew up. We adore it and you will too! The property is what makes this rental so uniquely spectacular.

The large kitchen provides an ideal space for cooking and socializing, and the expansive living room with a wood burning fireplace is the perfect place to get cozy by a fire on the leather couches, play board games, or watch a movie with the kids after a busy day of hiking, fishing or, swimming. Grab a book off the bookshelf in the library/sitting room and find a good nook. Don't leave without building a fire in the gorgeous stone fireplace.

The house contains one large master bedroom, with a king bed, two large walk-in closets and a large en suite bathroom -- tub, separate shower and sinks. There are two other bedrooms, one with two queen-size beds and the other with a king bed. These rooms are joined by jack and jill bathrooms (separated by sliding door), each with a separate shower and sink. There’s a half bath next to the kitchen and a laundry room with a washer and dryer. There’s also a pack in play on-site and a crib, if needed.

If you're like us, you'll spend most of your time outside, especially on the wrap around porch overlooking the lakes, located right off the kitchen and living room — a great place to grill out and take in the view. There’s a beautiful creek area below the greenhouse, an ideal place for young kids to play in the water.

And of course, enjoy the cold water in both spring-fed lakes. Sit on the dock or walking bridge as the evergreen trees tower above you, day and night (the stars are spectacular and the bullfrogs are particularly loud in the late spring and early summer). The age of the trees is something you cannot replicate, but with time. And you may even catch a pretty big large mouth bass, crappie, or brim in the ponds as well. We caught our first fish in these waters and our kids did too!

Enjoy a picnic, bonfire, or a night stroll in the open grassy areas around the water. The lightning bugs in this area are amazing, especially in the summer. Although not an easy hike (yet), you can also access the Green River from the property, but you’ll do a lot of ducking and weaving through rhododendrons to get there. For those that like to explore in untouched woods, you’ll enjoy the unique adventure.

The property is located near various local attractions, including Sky Top Orchard (2 miles), Flat Rock Playhouse (6 miles), the Carl Sandburg home (6 miles), Downtown Hendersonville (10 miles), Downtown Saluda (9 miles), Jones Gap State Park (12 miles), and Dupont State Recreational Forest (16 miles). There are also multiple waterfalls within a short drive, including Pearson’s Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Grassy Creek Falls.

Located just minutes to all local summer camps as well, like Camp Mondamin, Camp Greystore, Camp Arrowhead, and Camp Green Cove (which is directly across the street on Hwy 25).

Asheville/Biltmore is about a 25-30 minute drive, and Downtown Greenville is about a 35 minute drive in the opposite direction.
