About this property
Small dog friendly, lovely cottage on the quiet side of the Smoky Mountains
Step back in time and enjoy the opportunity to stay in this lovely 100+ yr old cottage! Green Mountain Cottage is located in the quaint small town of Cosby, TN. The cottage sits on 2 acres, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Smoky Mountains. It has been wonderfully refurbished by the previous owners and who took great care in retaining its authentic heritage while also offering modern day amenities, and we plan on keeping it the same. Located on the "quiet" side of the Smokys, Green Mountain Cottage is ideal for those wanting a mountain escape get away without the crowds and traffic of the high tourist areas, yet conveniently close to all of the major attractions the area has to offer, such as downtown Gatlinburg (20miles) and Pigeon Forge (26miles). The Cosby entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where you will find many beautiful hiking trails is a mere 3 miles down the road! Green Mountain Cottage itself is rich with history, originally built in the 1800's. The previous owners took great care to respect the original flooring, doors, and walls. You can even see the marks from the old saw mill blades. The staircase is also original so it is a bit steep and the upstairs has a very low ceiling so be mindful of this, great for kids! The cottage has an effective HVAC system and tankless hot water heater, so you won't run out of hot water! The cottage is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi and has all new appliances for your convenience and comfort.
There is excellent cell phone service. So after a long day on the trails or visiting the attractions, you can come back to the peaceful tranquility of this special cottage to roast marshmallows at the fire pit. We have a FB page (Green Mountain Cottage) that we invite you to visit for more information, pictures and history.

About the host
Hosted by Amanda
Hello there! My name is Amanda, I am a retired Veterinary Technician, and my family and I love traveling. Some of our favorite places are The Smoky Mountains, Key West, Scotland, and The Mighty Five National Parks. When we saw this special cottage for sale we fell instantly in love with its character and peacefulness. Its also a bonus that we get to bring along our two dogs Wrecks and Percy shown in my photo. This cottage has brought us closer as a family and I truly enjoy hearing our guests have a great time at our home as well.
Why they chose this property
Cosby is quiet, slow paced and the locals are friendly. Take a walk just a few steps to Cosby Creek or a walk down Liberty Road to see a horse farm and mountain range. Drive just 15 minutes to Pigeon River and put your lawn chair in the water and fish.
What makes this property unique
Although there are many upgrades to this home, this cottage is over 100 years old...the previous owners did a fantastic job of keeping as much of the original wood and researching the history of the home as much as they could. You can see the saw mill blade marks on the living room wall and in the welcome binder is the history of the families (Baxter and Jenkins Families) that have owned this home in the past.
