About this property

Lake Gaston Dream Come True

PLEASE NOTE: During the peak season (June, July, and August), we only rent for full weeks - Saturday to Saturday.

The name of our house is "Dream Come True," and it has truly been a dream. Our home can make your dreams come true too! Bring your family and friends for a relaxing vacation on Lake Gaston. Our home is located in the popular Pea Hill Creek area. We have all the comforts of home and a wonderful lake in the backyard. The gently sloping yard takes you to the water's edge and our boathouse. There is a vacant slip in the boathouse to tie up your boat. The boat lift in the boat slip is raised to the ceiling so you can get your boat into the boat slip. We will rent the boat lift ($150) if you want to use it. We also have a small floating ramp that is a safe place to dock your jet skis. When it is not used for jet skis, turtles and ducks sun themselves on it, and watching them is fun. Additionally, there is a boat ramp/launch at the end of our road for the neighborhood (you and your guests) to use. The water is about eight feet deep at the end of our dock, and it gently slopes back to a few inches of water at the shoreline.

The size of the house is 2500 square feet, and it has five bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and two kitchens with full-size appliances. In addition, we have high-speed wireless internet available throughout the house for those of you who may have to work remotely.

MAIN LEVEL
• Three bedrooms - Bedroom 1 is the Master Bedroom (king-size bed), Bedroom 2 has a full-size bed and a twin-size bed, and Bedroom 3 has a queen-size bed.
• Two full bathrooms - The Master Bathroom (Bathroom 1) has a walk-in shower and a separate garden-size tub. The Hall Bathroom (Bathroom 2) has a shower/tub combination.
• The Kitchen has stainless steel full-size appliances, solid surface countertops, and plenty of pots, pans, dishes, and utensils.
• The Dining Area seats 12 people (six at the table and six at the bar with bar stools).
• The Den seats about 7 people on the sectional sofa (with three electric recliners on the sectional sofa) and a comfortable rocking chair. The electronics include a 65' LG HDTV with Roku TV, DVD, VCR, and AM/FM Stereo.

LOWER LEVEL
• Two Bedrooms – Bedroom 4 has a king-size bed. Bedroom 5 has two sets of twin-size bunk beds for a total of four twin beds.
• Bathroom 3 has a walk-in shower with a fixed showerhead and a hand-held showerhead, and it has a built-in seat (no tub).
• The Kitchen has full-size appliances, solid surface countertops, and plenty of pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. Dining for 6 at the kitchen table.
• The Den has seating for 5 on a full-size sofa and loveseat. The electronics include a 50' LED HDTV TV with Roku TV service and a DVD player.
• The Laundry Area is in a closet with a full-size Washer and Dryer

DECK/PATIO
• The deck on the main level has a large gas grill, a Blackstone griddle, a table, and 6 chairs with an umbrella for shade, as well as 6 chairs for lounging or reading and a few side tables.
• The patio on the lower level has an area with 5 large rocking chairs and side tables, a small bar with 7 bar stools, a porch swing, a hammock, and a storage cabinet with yard games and swimming noodles.

BACK YARD – LAKESIDE
• The grassy yard gently slopes to the natural area and the lake.
• The 2 kayaks and paddles are located near the shore on a rack between two trees.
• In the natural area close to the lake shore, we have built an area of stone pavers with 6 Adirondack chairs and a fire pit.

FRONT YARD – ROADSIDE
• The 200-ft gravel driveway takes you to two parking areas (2 cars in front of the garage and 3 cars in the gravel parking area.
• Trailers can be parked on the left side of the driveway (as you are looking at the house).
• No parking is allowed on the grassy area on the right side of the driveway (septic field) or on the white stone area that covers drainage pipes.

NEIGHBORHOOD
• Bridgewater Cove is a small neighborhood with paved roads and a small common area where you can launch your boat.
• The neighborhood is very close to Washburn's Marina which has gas for boats and cars as well as a great selection of refreshments and groceries in their convenience store. In addition, Washburn's serves a great breakfast and lunch at their grill with outdoor seating.
• Further down the road is a shopping area with a variety of stores, including a Food Lion grocery store and an Ace Hardware store.
• There are several restaurants in the area, and some have waterfront dining.

We have been here since 2000 and love spending time all year long at our home on Lake Gaston. We have shared our home with other families who have made a tradition of staying with us each year. Please come and stay with us and make your dreams of a wonderful vacation come true at our home!

Awesome week!

The house was beautiful and extremely clean. The homeowners thought of everything-down to phone chargers and ice machines! The kitchen was very well stocked - we had everything we needed. I absolutely loved that things were labeled and I loved the welcome book that told us everything we needed to know. Wonderful experience!

Love Lake Gaston

We had a great week staying on the lake. I really like that the upstairs and downstairs are basically setup like two separate houses since there were 10 of us that stayed. The cove is nice and peaceful and the house was very clean and well equipped. We had a great time fishing, tubing and swimming. The homeowner was awesome, She was helpful and very responsive. Would definitely go back.

So sad to have had only a week

This was a perfect lake vacation with family and friends. The home is very well equipt (we'd be saying it would be nice to have....and we'd turn around or open a drawer and it was there. The house was very clean and the boat house was fantastic. The tie-up system that they have for your boat is simply fabulous. We look forward to our next trip to Lake Gaston and we hope to be able to stay at Dream Come True again.

Best House on the Lake1

My family and I had the most relaxing and fun vacation at this home. There was plenty of room for everyone (and we could have brought more!). I love when there are fans and tv's in every room and this house did not dissappoint. Besides ceiling fans there were individual fans around the house. This home is WELL equiped with every thing you should need for a wonderful stay! The hosts are fantsatic as well. We had no problems but if we had a question they responded within minutes. I even read a book!!!! Now that is relaxtion!

Summertime Fun

House is in a lovely neighborhood and sits on a quiet cove with just enough boat activity at the marina across the cove for gawking. Definitely love this lake. House was as presented, on a nice level lot and owners were great to work with.

Great location... great house.

The house was clean, well stocked and was perfect for our family vacation. We enjoyed the easy, level walk to the dock. And the lower living level was perfect for our teenagers. Would definitely love to visit again! Thank you for sharing your home!

Decent place to stay

We had a good time in general, Place wasn't super clean, we had to rewash the dishes that where in the cabinets to use, Lots of dishes had food and particles on it , found something nasty in the top drawer of front bedroom by the front door, that I won’t mention, The out door kayak and Canoe we’re pretty old , it was missing handles and Was difficult to put them in and out of water. Overall was ok,

Family birthday celebration

We had a fantastic time, the layout of the house was perfect for our family which consisted of my husband and I, our single grown son, my married son, his wife and 2 babies who had their own separate living space downstairs... it rained for half the time we were there but that was still fine as we fished off the dock, cooked wonderful meals and enjoyed each other's company. My son also brought his boat and jet ski which we enjoyed on the 2 beautiful days. The house was so well stocked with every type of cookware, etc but we did bring our own food and linens. We will definitely be returning!!

Perfect lake vacation

This was a wonderful experience for our family on this beautiful location on lake Gaston. We were able to swim off the dock and kayak in this protective cove. Beautiful sloping large backyard was great for kids to run around and play lawn games. We rented a pontoon boat and cheapest gas on lake is very close to house. We are definitely planning to come back next summer. Paul k

A little piece of paradise

We are so glad we found this beautiful lake home for our family’s Thanksgiving retreat. Our kids and grands live in Maryland and South Carolina...so Lake Gaston was a perfect meeting place. Although Thanksgiving dinner was the ‘main event’...it was hard to beat the fishing tournament off the dock, the daily kayaking, the evening bonfires and s’mores and the pure beauty and relaxation of the lake. The marina and grocery store are just a few minutes away. The home was extremely comfortable and very well stocked. Owners, Brian and Jean were most accommodating and were genuinely concerned about us having a great experience. Trust me folks...if you want to make some great family memories...this is the place! Thank you Creede family for letting us share your ‘little piece of paradise’

Perfect Getaway!!!

This home is a perfect getaway for my family. The weather was perfect, the house was immaculate (they even had little soaps in the bathrooms!) The jet tub was heaven! We spent most of our time out on the dock. We sat in the sun, read, swam and then at night we had an outdoor fire in the fire pit and made smores. The house had everything we need to make our meals and there were some books and games available too. The grocery store is about 10 minutes away, which was perfect. The house is deceiving large, you wouldn't know from the outside how big it is in on the inside. This home can easily fit a dozen people! And it was enough space that the kids could hangout downstairs while the adults were upstairs. I also love the amount of trees in the back yard, giving you some shade during the day! Brian and Jean were wonderful to work with, they truly cared about our experience renting their beautiful home. I've rented many homes in NC and this is my new favorite. We will be returning.

Accommodations were great and could have had more people. We had 8 adults and 4 children from 2-8. Accessories were available and plentiful I.e. Kitchen utensils and bbq equipment. Boathouse was perfect for docking, loading and embarking. Owners were accessible and very willing to make our vacation terrific. We would definitely stay there again. Thank the owners for a trip/vacation we will all remember fondly.

Family vacation 2016

This house was so much more then I could have ever imagined. There was so much room and so much to do. We did do a lot of fishing which we loved so much. We rented a pontoon which was awesome. We ate at the Point and had the best service and more food then you could eat and there were 12 of us. If we needed anything Jean was only a phone call away and very nice. The only thing that was not liked by almost all of us was the Dish box we had a lot of problems trying to figure out how to watch two different shows on each tv which meant my father only watched news and sports in the house. He does not share well. We just learned that all that was there we never own dish. But there was nothing else to complain about. Nights on deck were just breath taken of the lake. We look forward to coming back again. The Marszalek and The Williams Families.

Beautiful place with everything provided

We just stayed in this lovely home with lots of space, great location, and everything provided that you might need. We really enjoyed our stay, found the information provided very helpful, and the owners very accessible by phone and email. We would love to stay here again in the future--perhaps for a week or more in the summer. Really quiet and beautiful location and the home is well stocked and cared for.

About the host

Hosted by Brian and Jean Creede

Host profile image
Brian and Jean Creede are native North Carolinians. They have a son, Brandon (28), and a daughter, Kristin (23). They purchased the lake house in 2000 when it was being built. They live in Raleigh, about 1.5 hours away from their "Dream Come True!"

Why they chose this property

Lake Gaston is 20,300 acres and is 34 miles long with 350 miles of shoreline. The scenic beauty of the lake with its relaxing atmosphere and the traditional hospitality of the people creates the desire to return again and again. Boating is a never-ending delight on this beautiful lake. It is no wonder that Lake Gaston is considered one of the best lakes on the east coast.

The water of Lake Gaston is officially classified A-2, the highest category found in the eastern USA. Water Level is consistent under normal conditions and varies less than one foot. The normal temperatures allow water sports from May through September. Fishing goes on all year long on fabulous Lake Gaston. Virginia and North Carolina Wildlife Commissions stock the lake with largemouth bass, channel catfish, blue catfish, black crappie, white crappie, walleye, bluegill, white bass, striped bass, and chain pickerel.

Our property is set back from the main cove, so your family can enjoy swimming and playing near our boathouse without fear of heavy wakes or careless boaters ruining your day. Your family will also enjoy hanging out on our spacious deck. They will find it an excellent place to read or talk - maybe take in a little sun. Also, the backyard facing the water is large with a gentle slope which is great for playing ball, and the front yard is even larger. The fire pit near the shore is perfect to gather and roast marshmallows in the evenings.

If you have a rainy day, you can make a short trip to Roanoke Rapids for shopping, movies, and other entertainment. The quaint town of Warrenton has a lovely historic district with antique shops and other points of interest. In addition, you can take a tour of Rosemont Winery and Art Gallery, which is about 15 miles west of the house. There are a variety of activities that can be enjoyed around the lake. For example, you can go to the flea market on the weekends or play putt-putt golf. The area also has several golf courses available.
