About this property

LONG POND CABIN SURROUNDED BY WATER w/Great Sandy Beach

Long Pond Camp is situated upon a peninsula surrounded by water in the Western Adirondack Mountains. Long Pond is about one and a half miles long with many surrounding ponds such as Round Pond, Rock Pond, Trout Pond, Clear Pond and Mud Pond which are all within an easy walking distance. Jake's Pond is a beautiful, longer walk on one of many marked trails. Some of the ponds can be paddled to directly or paddle down the Oswegatchie River to Rock Pond, Trout Pond or Mud Pond. There are maps at Camp for your use to personalize your own Adirondack Adventure. For snowmobiling, Camp is located near Lewis County #5 and #8 trails - all beautiful trails to anywhere in the state.

The cabin has three bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, screened front porch, dining and living area and its own private 'Attitude Adjustment Deck' over the water. The cabin has electric heat with an optional wood stove for the cooler Adirondack months.

Long Pond Camp sets on a peninsula surrounded on three sides by water. On our property is the cabin and main house (owner occupied). We are the only private property on the east side of Long Pond. No matter what the season, every day is beautiful. The summer sun off the water, winter all in white or the fall with its intense colors. The Camp is surrounded by huge white pines, hemlock woods and maple hardwoods for color and fragrance. Camp is located 1/4 mile on a private driveway off peaceful Long Pond Road. Camp is approximately ten miles from the Village of Croghan.

Included with the cabin are two kayaks, a canoe and a rowboat are available for your enjoyment. Plus, Camp has a wonderful sandy beach which is perfect for swimming. Enjoy a game of horseshoes or a campfire by the pond at night.

Surrounded by Beautiful Nature
The boathouse cabin had everything that we needed with comfortable furniture. The view of Long Pond is amazing. Kayaks and rowboat are available to use. We enjoyed the walking trails nearby. The owners are very hospitable and friendly. We would love to come back again sometime and recommend the place to others.

Peaceful
If you want privacy and to get back to nature this is the place to be! It rained a little everyday, but it did not stop us from canoeing and hiking or just enjoying the sound of peaceful rain drops as they hit the lake. The homeowners were very respectful of our privacy but were very attentive if we needed something! Definitely looking to go back for another long weekend.

Cozy cabin perfect for our family of four (and our dog). And the location....Wow! The lake is absolutely beautiful. Very private and tranquil. Great hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking - so much to explore and enjoy. What a gem! And the hosts were so gracious and accommodating. Thank you so much for a wonderful week!

A great place to relax
My family and I stayed at the cabin over Memorial Day weekend and had a great time, the cabin comfortably accommodating the 5 of us. The area is serene and beautiful with plenty of opportunities to hike, fish, and canoe. Our hosts were amazing and welcoming; made me feel like we were visiting family. All the best parts of camping in the Adirondacks with a shower and a warm bed waiting for you at the end of the day

Cozy cabin on a cold, fall weekend
Beautiful, well kept property. Cozy cabin. It rained a lot, but we were able to walk to the suspension bridge our first afternoon here. A wonderful little adventure. Fed the fish off the balcony. Would love to come stay in the warmer weather.

Boathouse on the Long Pond
My wife and I enjoyed one week at your house. We liked hikes in the woods and kayaking right out of the cabin. Our dog, Roxy could run off the leash for most of the time. I am sure she was happy too.

Secluded getaway
Pictures were accurate and the boathouse exceeded our expectations. Dave and Erin were wonderful. We felt like the property was ours for the duration of our stay. Our dogs had a blast swimming in the pond. The wilderness hikes were refreshing and tired them out for nap time on the deck. We highly recommend and hope to return in the future! The stay was well worth the cost. If you want to relax and unwind without being off the grid, consider this place.

Long pond was a great place to relax and do some fishing. There was a trail head right down the road and if we had prepared a little better, we could have made it to Jack’s pond. Erin and Dave were very responsive and helpful!

Exceeded expectations
My three children (ages 12, 9, &4), my two dogs, my husband and myself spent four days enjoying the Long Lake Hilton. The owners were helpful and hospitable without being intrusive. The camp is perfectly described in the listing. One night the camp across the lake was loud. The owners warned us ahead of time. The noise was over by 11PM. It did not interfere with our time at all. We hiked, boated, fed the fish, paddle board, swam, sat by the camp fire… it was perfect to have some intimate family time. We were visited by many bullhead, loons, deer, and even a beaver. We will definitely be back.

Disappointed!
I’ve debated leaving a poor review for this stay, mainly because the people are obviously wonderful, sweet people and the location is beautiful, ADK FANTASTIC! However, we definitely deserve a partial refund for these reasons! 1st there is no reason to charge an outrageous cleaning fee. The owners didn’t clean our place, and they even admitted they were too busy to get in there to “SHINE” the place up, hence we having to clean up the wet bath towels from the previous guests!! Grossed me out! They also require us guest to leave the place spotless!! Which is fine, but don't charge the hefty cleaning fee! Secondly, we came and it was in the 40’s. The. cottage was 51 degrees in there. The little tiny space heater did nothing to help warm the place, nor did the fake fireplace heater. There's really no insulation and old cracked windows! We had to use the stove to try and heat it up. There was no kindling to start a fire! I had been in a wet, windy cold breast cancer walk that morning so I decided to just take a hot shower. Wrong!! The shower head was old and full of lime!!! Barely any streams of water coming down and in every which way direction because of the lime! We chose not to use the shower anymore for our two day stay! After getting out of the shower, the bedrooms are too small to be able to get dressed in so I was putting my pajamas on in the living room. The owner comes knocking at the door at 8:30 PM and caught me getting dressed! Seriously!! Nooo!

A week in perfection
After a years’ hiatus, Susan and our canine companions and I returned to THE HILTON On LONG POND. We did the smart thing and stayed for an entire week. It was magical! Comfortable furniture and cozy beds just call your name to relax. Even a down comforter and electric blanket! A small electric heater took the chill off in the early morning. We cooked a few meals at camp, but also discovered Hardy’s Buckhorn Bar and Grill; proprietors are Dave and Erin Hardy. The food and drinks are delicious and reasonable and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. Next trip we won’t be cooking at camp! The dogs loved the beautiful trails right outside the door and we took the kayaks out several times. Spent a lot of time on the deck just breathing in the calm, peaceful beauty. Erin and Dave are wonderful, down to earth, accommodating hosts. Also giving a shout out to the Red Rooster. HUGE delicious omelettes and homemade toast will have us coming back for more. We took a day trip to Alexandria Bay but have decided that next time we need not venture any further than Croghan. Slept late, read several books and totally relaxed. Our kind of week, with perfect weather to boot! Susan Kathleen Buddy Ernie

Pleasant Cabin
I have mixed reactions to my week at the Long Pond Cabin. The cabin was very comfortable and had all the amenities I needed. I enjoyed the "attitude adjustment" deck in the mornings but by afternoon the sun made it too hot. An umbrella for shade would have made a big difference. The pond was beautiful and I was very fortunate to have excellent weather for kayaking. Cons: I felt the description of the property was a bit misleading. The pictures and the claim of completely separate docks, boats, and beaches led me to believe that there was some separation between the main house and the boat house cabin. Not so. The parking area for both residences is right outside the cabin's back door and is the view from the small screened in porch. The main house is practically on the doorstep of the cabin so there is little to no privacy. When I was there the main house was accommodating several adults and three small children. Though the people were nice enough, I had not counted on the close encounters and accompanying noise. Beaches? There was one beach by the big house. Also, renters need to be aware that during the summer months the Oswegatchie Educational Center camp is directly across from the cabin. This camp has an average of 150 11 to 18 year old campers each week. Sound carries. Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards keep the pond busy and mealtimes feature chanting and yelling. None of this is terribly disturbing if you are expecting it and the kids can be fun to watch. There is no TV reception, only DVDs to watch, though the main house apparently does have TV stations. No cell coverage. ( I had to drive approximately 5 miles to get a signal). No internet. And you have to take your garbage when you leave! Shortly after I arrived I needed to contact the owners and left messages for both Dave and Erin. Of course they couldn't have called me back with no service! Fortunately Dave happened by the next day so I was able to resolve my issue. It was disturbing, however, that he told me they had not received my messages because they were out of cell coverage range working at another residence. Another day I had a problem with electricity. I was able to contact Erin, who was in Syracuse, and she was going to contact Dave and/or a neighbor. Turned out neither Dave nor the neighbor were around to help. Fortunately I was able to solve the problem on my own but if I had not been able to, I would have been without electricity for ????

We are so grateful for our wonderful, outstanding guests who we have had the privilege of sharing our homes with! THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!!! Dave and Erin

Why they chose this property

Long Pond has been a big part of our family for over 50 years. It is one of the most beautiful, relaxing places in the world. We love being there and hate to leave. It is everything the Adirondacks should be.

What makes this property unique

Long Pond is a treasure in the Adirondack Mountains. The "Attitude Adjustment" deck sits over the water surrounded by beautiful hemlock, white and red pine trees. The Long Pond area offers endless walking trails with waterfalls, amazing kayaking and fishing literally right outside your door! Long Pond offers everything of the Adirondack Mountains without being the overcrowded, typical tourist spot. All the land surrounding Long Pond is owned by the Oswegatchie Education Center except for our property and only five other properties on the other sides of Long Pond so it will never be overdeveloped keeping Long Pond amazingly unique and special!
