In summer we have a 7-night minimum (Mondays to Mondays). The rate in 2024 is $3,000 per week with a $290 cleaning fee, HST and a $1000 refundable damage deposit. Spring and Fall 2024 is a 2-night minimum (or 3 if a long weekend) The rates are $650.00 per night, for the minimum nights with additional nights at $450.00, plus the $290.00 final cleaning fee plus HST and a $1000 refundable damage deposit. Chalet (sleeps 10) information:
THE PORTAGE CHALET--Sleeps up to 10
In 5 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 living room/dining rooms, a deck, screened-in porch, and laundry room.
It is on over 1 private acre of land and there is a small walk-in waterfront.
The chalet has two floors--each has a separate entrance and (no internal staircase ) and we rent out both floors to single groups of up to 10
THE UPPER CHALET-1000 square feet Sleeps 6
• One small bedroom with a queen bed and ensuite 1/2 bath
• One small bedroom with 2 twin beds
• One small bedroom with a twin bed and a twin loft bed (suitable for ages 6 to 12)
• A Muskoka room with a pull-out queen sofa
• A 3-piece bath with shower only and 1/2 bath off of the queen bedroom.
• A galley kitchen
• An open living/dining room with Satellite TV/DVD Player, mini-split "central" air conditioner/heater
• A mudroom
• An upper deck looking out over the lake
THE LOWER CHALET - 1000 square feet Sleeps 4
Two good-sized bedrooms each with a queen bed
Two queen pull-out sofas in the living room --no privacy here.

COME TO THE PORTAGE CHALET and
DURING THE DAY
Hang out at the walk-in waterfront
Swim, canoe, kayak, or just sit, read and breathe in the spectacular Muskoka air.
Get the gang together and play lawn games, volleyball, or even baseball, soccer or frisbee in our large open field. Bring your own toys.
Take the 1-minute walk down the drive to the waterfront, stroll down our pretty tree-lined dead-end country road, or hike up Wolf Mountain.
Relax on our deck that looks down over the lake--Perfect for picnics or a BBQ
30 minutes to the west gate of world-famous Algonquin Park where there are spectacular hikes and sights.
Or take a 15-minute trip into town (Huntsville or Dwight) for ice cream, shopping, to see the sites, or go to the theater or the movies.
Just a short distance to several golf courses and hiking, horse-back riding, zip-lining, river canoeing, steamship rides and much more.
AT NIGHT
Roast marshmallows around the campfire and
Star Gaze—on a clear night you will see a sky filled with MILLIONS of stars.
Or catch that important game or watch a movie in one of the two living rooms with Satellite TV and a good old-fashioned DVD player (Yes we have DVDs!)
LINENS: We provide pillows/pillow protectors, mattress covers, blankets and bathmats-You bring all your own sheets/pillow cases and towels.
OUTSIDE: UPPER DECK AND LOWER SCREENED IN PORCH: We provide picnic tables, the BBQ and 1 tank of propane.
FIRE-PIT: A fire-pit and supply of firewood. You bring the newspaper and collect the kindling!
LAWNS: We have an open lawn perfect for games of every sort. It is large enough for frisbee, soccer or baseball. Bring your own equipment.
AT THE LAKE: The lake is a 1-minute walk down the driveway and across a dead-end dirt road where there is a small walk-in waterfront off to the right. The lake is great for swimming, fishing and boating. We provide some canoes, kayaks, a 15 foot lily pad and a paddle boat for your use.
PARKING: Enough parking for 3 vehicles. With overflow for another 2 if needed.
SCHEDULE and MINIMUMS: In spring and fall we have a 2-night minimum (3 for long weekends). In summer there is usually a 7-night minimum unless you wish to take weeknights, then a 3-night minimum. Double check with us in case we have an opening for a weekend only during summer. In summer we go Mondays to Mondays.
PAYMENT PLAN: 50 % upon booking, 50% 3-months before check in dates. The refundable damage deposit of $1000 is due at the 1-month mark. Interac is preferred. For credit card payments, add 4%.
BOOKING PROCESS:
We can put up to a 24 hours courtesy hold while you consult with key guests in your group.
Once you confirm, we let you know what your payments schedule will be and send a sample of our rental agreement as an FYI.
To make the reservation, you send us the first payment due.
We send an invoice/receipt and your rental agreement to complete, sign and return.
Shortly before your visit, we send info on house rules, what you might want to bring, etc.
