About this property

Solitude Lodge a private mountain retreat 40 minutes from Queenstown Airport

Dwarfed by the majesty of the landscape, Solitude Lodge is a place where fun, family, and peace combine.

Perched on top an ancient glacial moraine, Solitude Lodge is perfect for couples, families and groups of outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate a quiet space or a base to explore from.

Convenient to the local township and only 40 minutes to the international airport, we warmly welcome all who treasure time with family, friends and the outdoors.

Are you seeking a retreat amidst breathtaking landscapes? Look no further than Solitude Lodge, nestled in the valley between the Kingston and Garston townships in the South Island. This picturesque region is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a wide range of activities year-round. From fly fishing and mountain biking / cycling in the summer to hunting and snow sports in the winter, this destination has something for everyone.

The Lodge itself is a testament to minimalist yet functional design, drawing inspiration from Scandinavian chalets. With sleek black cladding that seamlessly blends into the mountainside, the Lodge provides a peaceful and cozy sanctuary from the elements. Step inside and feel the warmth and inviting atmosphere, created by contrasting ply ceilings and oak floors. The floor-to-ceiling windows and doors frame breathtaking views of the surrounding Eyre and Hector mountain ranges, creating a calm and relaxing space.

Designed with your comfort and convenience in mind, the interior features a single open-plan room that serves as a hub for essential activities such as cooking, resting, and relaxing. The gourmet kitchen with stone benchtops provides the perfect opportunity to whip up a tasty meal before settling back on the inviting couch for a Netflix binge. Three cozy sleeping areas offer a peaceful retreat, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a day spent exploring the great outdoors.

Step outside onto the Lodge's massive timber decks, where you can take in the view of the majestic Eyre Mountain range. The Lodge's location also provides a unique feature - the vintage Kingston Flyer train is within touching distance. Experience a blast from the past as the train makes its long-awaited return on weekends during the warmer months. See the Kingston Flyer's schedule on their website for more details.

For the cyclists, the popular Around the Mountains cycle trail conveniently runs past the bottom of the property. From the lodge it's an easy 15- 20-minute ride to the Kingston Cafe and Bar for lunch and dinner.

We encourage our guests to roam around the Lodge's 5 acres and soak up the sunshine.

The Lodge can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people and offers a range of amenities, including a log burner and ducted heat pump to keep you warm during the colder months. It is fully furnished with an open plan living space and equipped with WiFi for your convenience. The bedrooms feature hotel-quality bed linen and guest towels, and the bathroom is stocked with body care products. The well-equipped kitchen includes a gas cooker and oven, along with kitchen basics like cooking oil, salt, and pepper. A stove top and plunger coffee maker are also provided, along with tea and a fridge/freezer. For your convenience, laundry facilities and home care products are available. The Lodge offers private access for a truly secluded experience.
