The very scenic drive from Carmel Highlands to Big Sur is so beautiful and enjoyable! It’s like 25 miles south to Nepenthe (favorite restaurant in Big Sur!) passing over the famous Bixby Bridge and Rocky Creek Bridge (must stop at each and get out for pictures). Along the way, stop at Vista Point, Garrapata State Park, Hurricane Point and Pfeiffer Beach. All not to miss. Post Ranch and Alila Ventana are just south of Pfeiffer Beach. Since we fly into Monterey, we grocer for the week at Trader Joe’s at Munras Ave, Monterey before heading to the villa. If you go there, you MUST have a sandwich at Ike’s, just around the corner from Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s is just 8 miles from the villa. A Safeway at 5 Crossroads Blvd & Hwy 1 in Carmel is just 4 miles and a usual stop in a strip center with a CVS and others. There is also a gas station / convenience store just ¾ mile on Hwy 1 from the villa for last minute stuff, snacks, drinks, etc. Haven’t done Uber Eats. Our fav restaurants are Pacific Edge (on property for brunch & dinner), in Carmel - La Bicyclette (pizza), Portabella, Dametrta, Flaherty’s, and Casanova. Another must is a hike of Point Lobos. The kids will love the action on Carmel Beach, and don’t forget the famous points north of Carmel – Pebble Beach, 17 mile drive, Lone Cypress, China Rock, Asilomar Beach, Point Pinos lighthouse and the Monterey Aquarium and Cannery Row. We also love Pacific Grove. Hope this helps.
