About this property

Lake Michigan Sand Beach & Wooded Privacy

Located just east of Oostburg, Wisconsin beach and lake front home is a place to enjoy the seasons of Lake Michigan. You have your own 200 foot 'singing sand' beach. Home is located on a private road among native stands of hemlock and pine trees. The property has historically been known as 'The Clearing'. Lake Michigan in 2022 was at highwater levels which resulted in the sand beach being minimal for much of that season. The beach is back as the picture of December 2024 shows! Should be a great season on the beach at the Clearing!

This Non-Smoking home sleeps six. The dominant windows bring the outside in throughout the house. Additional amenities include wood burning stove, beach campfire site, dining area overlooks the lake, sunroom and cove rooms for coffee and quiet time overlooking the lake. Extra cabin in the rear has electricity, another two twin beds, and wood burning stove. This extra cabin provides a quiet place to get away from others or fun for the kids to hang out in.

Area Information: 43 miles north of downtown Milwaukee via I-43 and ten miles south of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Nearby attractions begin with golfing (Blackwolf Run Courses, The Irish, Whistling Straits - site of PGA August 2004/2010/2015, 2007 US Senior Open & Ryder Cup 2021, The Bull, The Bog, and others). Variety of shopping is available with Kohler, Cedarburg, Sheboygan riverfront, and antique shops throughout the vicinity. Motor sports at Road America at Elkhart Lake. Bike trail access is within four miles in Oostburg. Daily fee access to public boat launch facility is six miles south. Nearby state parks of Kohler Andre and Harrington Beach provide further samplings of the area’s natural beauty. Casual and fine dining is available in Oostburg, Kohler and Sheboygan. Milwaukee area is home to many major events and attractions with less than an hour’s drive.

Had great weather! However, after REPEATED attempts to contact the manager and owner about issues with the TV and phone with no reply, this in itself will probably keep us from renting this property again.

Just had our second stay.. My nieces family came up for a few hours and are dying to plan a vacation there in 2025. This is a fabulous get away and I can’t wait to see it again

Memory Maker

We just spent a week here - my wife and 5 kids. It was perfect for us. Sunny beach days and night time smores on the fire. You’re secluded but close to town (Oostburg or Sheboygan). The pictures don’t do it justice…hard to believe you’re in Wisconsin with those views. We will be back!

Exquisite annual stay

We have stayed here many years now and always look forward to our retreat. Well stocked in terms of nice linens and towels; dishes and cookware. Games and puzzles. All of the different seating areas inside and out are charming. Look up the moonrise schedule it is spectacular rising over the lake. Had calm waters and fun waves, very comfortable temp! This property is well taken care of and communication with owners is very helpful.

Such a relaxing getaway

We have been coming to The Clearing since 20212. We find the space to be comfortable, clean, and rustic. The beach is right out the door, and the back yard is shaded and green. It has never disappointed, and so glad that the beach is back to growing wider.

Amazing place

We absolutely love it here and have stayed here about five times over the last few years. This great cottage full of wonderful character never changes …it’s always clean , quiet and peaceful - with unbelievably beautiful frontage of our beautiful Lake Michigan.

The Clearing of the Mind!

We really loved our stay at The Clearing. We loved the privacy of the place, while at the same time windows on all sides of the house offered wonderful, peaceful views of the lake, the trees, or the sky, and sometimes all three. It's just a great place to clear your head. You do have to shop for absolutely everything you'll need for meals; there are no condiments or provisions that remain in the fridge or on the shelves except salt and pepper. But dishes, pots and pans, towels, etc. are supplied. A great oasis all around.

Another great visit to Lake Michigan

This is our second time staying at The Clearing. Both times have been enjoyable for our family and our two dogs. The house has everything we need and then some, and a great location. Both times we have visited, it has been over spring break and luckily the weather has been pretty cooperative for sunny beach walks. We love the area and hope to be back soon!

Breathtaking

Beautiful, quiet location. You can view the lake from most of the house. Alot of different areas to sit and view the lake. The beach is steps away from the deck. The weather was chilly, cloudy and rainy when I was there that was disappointing. Still enjoyed my stay.

Cabin with a VIEW!

The cabin was perfectly nestled on a quiet gravel road on the shore of Lake Michigan. Clean, rustic and full of surprises. The kids loved exploring the home, property, woods and of course the star of the show…the beach. The view of the lake and sound of the surf makes me happy. Great fall weekend getaway although we would have loved to stay longer.

The smoke detector woke us up TWICE!! Very unsettling😡 We had not had a wood fire. The street sign is covered up by a branch, and it is Not a gravel road. I called for help and did nit hear back.
