About this property

Beach and Bay access!. Close to State Park! Boat friendly.

Whether you love sunning and swimming at the beach or fishing and boating on the bay you'll find the best of both worlds in Cape San Blas. The beach has been voted number one beach in America numerous times and St. Joseph's Bay is know to be one of the top fishing destinations as well. Our house, Sundance Cottage, happens to be right in the middle of both.

Nestled in the sand dunes of Cape San Blas, it is about 250 yards to the deeded accesses of both the beach and the bay. Sunbathers will enjoy the outdoor shower and bathroom after a day on the beach and fishermen will find the fish cleaning station a handy addition after a successful day of fishing. With ample parking underneath the house there is plenty of room to bring your boat or waverunners which can be launched at St. Joseph's State Park, just 2/10 of a mile from the house.

With three bedrooms and three baths (one is outside but the shower and toilet are enclosed), the house will comfortably sleep six people. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, 55”smart TV, private bath with walk in shower , and French doors which lead onto the back deck that overlooks the dunes.. The other two bedrooms each have queen-size beds and share the full bath conveniently located in the hall. One of the queen bedrooms has a 43” smart TV as well.

Everyone will enjoy watching the 65” Smart TV in the large, comfortable sofas and chairs. Bring your laptop and get online with our broadband, wireless, high speed internet connection.

Since Cape San Blas is not known for restaurants and night life we keep the kitchen well stocked with plenty of cookware and utensils and the pantry stocked with spices and staples so you'll be able to cook your fresh catch of the day on the large stainless steel grill or the charcoal grill under the house. There is also plenty of deck furniture for outdoor dining as well.

So if you're looking for a place that's somewhat off the beaten path you have found it here. Uncrowded beaches, endless shelling, fantastic fishing, or just boating around the bay are just a few of the things to do. Rent a bike and ride for miles, rent a kayak and ride the waves, or just enjoy the beautiful, serene enviornment with your friends and family. Cape San Blas is not just the 'forgotten coast'...it is also an undiscovered Paradise.

Port St Joe

Our trip to Port St Joe was very refreshing. Minus the cold weather of 69 degrees, freezing wind chills and cold water, my family enjoyed the beach and the bay. This location is clean and is a 5 minute walk to the beach or bay. Our family decided to go to the park each day. The park is also only a 5 minute drive and costs 6.00/day. We had the beach to ourselves. Awesome vacation....minus the weather in March. We will return!

Love the Cape

This is an amazing location. The bay. The golf. The state park. Nothing like it. The property was clean, well maintained. All amenities you ever wanted. The owners were accommodating in all ways. Great stay!

Great family vacation

Lovely stay at a clean comfortable house. Had everything we needed and some thoughtful extras. Kitchen came with plenty of spices and cookware. House was about a 5 minute walk from the beach, and we enjoyed being close to th stone preserve for hiking, exploring and swimming in the bay with the kids.

Loved it!

Our family of three spent a week at the cottage and everything was exactly as listed. I’m very picky when it comes to cleanliness, so I was happy to see this home was spotless when we arrived. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The beach was beautiful and never crowded. We loved the state park as well. Also, the espresso milkshakes by the Tradin’ Post were delicious! We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for sharing your lovely home!

32 Anniversary trip

This is our third time on the Cape and we fall more in love with it each visit. We like a more laid back and slower paced way of life when we vacation and this place is a perfect place to slow down and recharge. The house was super clean and had everything we needed. The owners are super easy to communicate with and quick to respond to any questions. Thank you for a wonderful week! Robin and Mark

Awesome beach rental

We absolutely loved this beach rental and would definitely stay here again. The house was very clean, stocked, and decorated nicely. There was plenty of room for parking. The outdoor shower was great and there is a lot of porch space to enjoy the outdoors! It is also located w/in walking distance to 1-2 restaurants. We didn’t use the beach access (we had friends w/another house on the beach), but we drove over to check it out and it looked to be convenient. The owner was readily available to answer any questions we had. We just really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Sundance Cottage when visiting Cape San Blas.

Perfect house for our family getaway!

We will definitely be back to Sundance! We rented a house for our family of 4 in early April to be in CSB with other families for spring break. This house was perfect for what we needed. The owners are super-responsive and gave us the info we needed to prep for the vacation. The downstairs area (covered parking, an outdoor shower/toilet, a fish-cleaning area, etc.) was easy to access and was nice to have as it kept everything out of the elements. Once you go up the stairs to the main door, there is a wraparound deck area that it accessible from the main outdoor stairs AND the master bedroom. The washer/dryer are right inside the front door, which made dropping dirty/wet clothes in so easy. The kitchen is very well-appointed with dishes, spices, and some unexpected extras (a coffeemaker that does Keurig pods or a whole carafe, a Crock-pot slow cooker, etc.). The kitchen is clean, bright, and set up well. The dining/living area is also surrounded by windows, so you can enjoy the sunrise and natural light all day. There is a front deck to use for dining or relaxing. There are 3 bedrooms, one with an ensuite bathroom and two others with a bath in the hallway. Everything is set up to make things so convenient and cozy. There are french doors to the back deck from the main bedroom, so morning coffee/evening drinks are lovely. The beach access was close and easy to find/access. We didn't use the bay access, but it also sounds convenient. This is a great house in CSB!

Great 2 weeks at CSB

This was our third time to stay at Mark and Karen’s house. It’s so convenient to both the beach and bay. The kitchen as fully stocked, grills were in great shape, love the front and back decks! We hope to rent from them again.

Great Choice by State Park

Stayed for 7 days at the beginning of beginning of September. We wanted to try a place that had plenty of room for a boat and was close to a boat ramp. This property fit the bill. The weather (rain and wind) was not good for most of the stay so we visited Apalachicola, East Point, Carrabelle, Panama City and St. Georges Island, as well as numerous jaunts to PSJ. Communication with the owner was very good with updates provided regarding hurricane Idalia impacts. We did make it out on the water a couple days using both the state park and PSJ boat ramps. Caught a couple large Speckled Trout and enjoyed snorkeling for scallops. The house was clean and functional, no complaints, just the expected wear and tear on a vacation rental. The owners are anticipating a renovation in the near future. I'm still searching for that perfect rental with a boat dock for a reasonable price so I can avoid the boat ramp hassle. Barring finding that, this rental will be on top of our list to consider for next year.

Cool Air and Quiet Neighborhood

If you are looking for cold air, hot water, and clean surroundings with pretty much every kitchen utensil and spice you could want, this is your spot. Three big bedrooms, two large baths and ice cold air which given the outside temps in Florida this past week — was an extra blessing. The neighborhood is quiet and easy to access. The beach access required driving and parking but it wasn’t hard to get there or back. The beach was pretty empty which was a GIFT. The outside shower and under home parking is perfect. Cape San Blas and the state park are beautiful.

Great Stay May 2023

House was what we expected. It suited our needs perfectly. Very clean, comfortable sized rooms, nice decks, great space for parking our trailer. An outdoor bathroom, hose and fish cleaning area, as well as two grills were all as described. We did use the washer/dryer and brought our own laundry soap. The house was well stocked. The house is a bit dated and shows some wear but the proximity to the state park as well as deeded access to both the bay and beach made this a fabulous place for us to stay. If you are looking for hgtv, this is not the place for you, if you are looking for for a comfortable, clean, home away from home this property on the Cape, this is for you!

Good location and great communication

We enjoyed our stay at this house very much! The house was clean and had pretty much everything we needed for the week. The pictures were accurate as well. Some of the furniture is a little worn, but that didn't bother us at all. I expect that from a house that rents weekly on a regular basis. You can tell that this house has hosted many memorable trips to CSB, and we love that. Again, everything worked and was very clean upon arrival. Beds were comfortable, and there is a large Vizio tv in the living room that was great when taking a break from the beach. Plenty of parking underneath and an easy driveway for parking a boat. Loved the bay access and the beach was a short walk or car ride. There was plenty of parking by the beach access if you didn't want to walk. Walk is about 7 minutes at most. The stretch of beach is great and not crowded at all, even at peak times. Super close to the state park and restaurant. We would gladly rent again and really appreciated the owners communication. Thanks!!

Great stay

We enjoyed our stay at your property. The house had everything we needed. It is not very close to the beach and walk paths were not usable due to some construction. The better option was to drive to the open beach places.

About the host

Hosted by Mark Jones

Host profile image
My husband and I share ownership of this home with his brother and wife. We are from northeast Alabama. We enjoy boating, fishing and enjoying the beach and surrounding area. We love sharing our home with guest looking for some peace and quiet, beautiful beaches and the best sunsets year round in the Florida panhandle.

Why they chose this property

We first visited the area over 20 years ago and absolutely fell in love with it. We've always vacationed in the panhandle...mostly Destin and it reminds us of what Destin used to be like when we were kids. We like the laid back atmosphere, uncrowded beaches, excellent fishing and peace and quiet.

What makes this property unique

Our home is only 2/10 of a mile from the entrance to St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park so if you bring a boat you are very close to the boat launch there. Additionally we have an excellent deeded beach access with only private homes there so the beach is never crowded. Our deeded bay access is great for fishing the grass flats for speckled trout and redfish as well as launching a kayak or canoe. Our neighborhood, Peninsula Estates, is very peaceful and quiet so most times you can still hear the surf from our outside decks.
