We chose this location for the dark sky and it did not disappoint. The cabin was inviting and cozy. The host friendly and accommodating. We had a great time. Very relaxing.
The outside of the cabin is deceiving. At first look I expected a small hut; but once inside what a surprise. Downstairs a large living room and warm spacious kitchen. Upstairs a huge bedroom. Entire cabin all knotty pine.
Great place for a getaway. We took our 2 dogs for a few days. It was very peaceful and relaxing. Lots to do in the area including star gazing and hiking . The cabin was great and the surrounding areas. Surrounded by mountains, beautiful farm land and forests
The cabin was clean and cozy. We enjoyed our stay. Great for a couples getaway. We brought our dog Gus he enjoyed the freedom to roam around the hill side. For being a dog friendly cabin it was very clean. We will be back!!
My partner and I enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable, kitchen is well-stocked and much bigger in person than the photos imply. We enjoyed the fire pit and listening to the birds. While the property is located along a dirt road, the local traffic of cars and ATVs is not disruptive. Benn, the owner/manager was very communicative before our arrival (to remind me to bring towels! Don't forget, like we did) and during our stay when we encountered a few issues. His attention was on point and professional. The cabin is a great home base for visiting Cherry Springs Park (only 15 min drive) and the magnificent lush forests, nearby. The local town of Galeton is small, but charming. Be sure to have breakfast at Mays and stop at the local General Store. There's also a grocery store in town to pick up supplies. Thank you for your hospitality, Benn.
Was overall happy with stay. Close to fishing and shops. Weather could have been a bit better but the cabin was pleasant. Just make sure you take things such as garbage bags, plastic baggies, paper towels, toilet paper. There is no vacuum
My wife and I enjoyed our stay in this quiet, cozy cabin. And the stars at night were magnificent as we gazed up from our crackling firepit ablaze. The kitchen was a restful place to sit with a glass of wine, as the big windows provided a peaceful view into the woods. The host was very easy to reach with any questions and was accessible if needed. It is off the main road but so close to hiking trails, fishing spots, stargazing, and beautiful scenery. Definitely a spot to keep on my list of places to return to when we need to get away.
The cabin was pleasant & would come again. We loved our stay in the area. Not a single outdoor light worked, which was a pain as we arrived late. We brought candles & glow sticks which made a big difference while there. The pillows/linens are a bit skimpy. Overall it’s quite pretty & the outdoor fire area was enjoyable.
Great location for setting up telescope in a field just yards from the cabin.
The bedroom is spacious but is up some steep steps. There is no washer/dryer nor dishwasher.
(As we get older, these are factors that matter more to us.)
This was our second time staying at the cabin. It is so close to multiple state parks including Cherry Springs. Nature, stars, and relaxation. What else could we ask for? Thanks for a great weekend!
Benn was very friendly and helpful with our reservation. We had to move some of our dates around to be fitting for other things that had come up and Benn was willing to make adjustments to accommodate us. Communication with him was very easy and prompt.
The building and interior is very clean and simple. For me it's what made the stay so comfortable. There's so much hang out space inside and out. The kitchen is well stocked with varying sizes of pots and pans, cooking utensils, dishes and cups. The bathroom is on the smaller side but it didn't bother us much. The loft room where the bed is, is spacious and comfortable as well. The only thing I can think of that was a slight problem is the lack of curtains/shades on the windows. We were able to resolve it by using the extra pillows and blankets to block out the light but it does shine onto the bed a bit due to the positioning.
Although the property was located next to the road and a few hundred feet below another house, it felt incredibly private. During the day there was very little traffic and essentially none in the evening. At night, aside from the sounds of leaves rustling and evening critters, the road was silent. There was no light pollution which made it perfect for sitting out and star gazing. A short 2-3 minute walk up the road provided views of the sky that were comparable to the views at Cherry Springs State Park.
This is a wonderful place to stay
Nice rural location. Very good night skies. Place was pretty clean, inside. It was hot during day, but we ran thwwindow fan upstairs and it cooled off quickly.
Lot to do outside in the area.
The negatives, confirming some statements in other posts: stairs up to bedroom not for faint of heart, or physical disabilities. Driveway needs gravel at bottom, good size mudholes made it interesting. Someone put in pieces of firewood to fill in somewhat.
Road is used by atv and off roaders. Got very noisy at times with them zipping up and down road. A house on road ended up creating speedbumps by time we left. Without that, the place was awesomely quiet and peaceful.
Argued with wildlife over all the blackberries around place. We lost, but managed to snag a few.
Had an amazing time here. Quiet as it can get. Not too far from everything there is to see in the area. We both loved our time there and look forward to booking this xabin again in the future.
Cute little cabin close to Cherry Springs state park. About a 15 minutes drive to the star gazing area with several pull offs to see the views of the mountains.
The bed was very comfortable, location easy to find, the kitchen large, the location close to hiking and stargazing. The cabin was clean and had a nice backyard with deck. Very clean. There was an A/C unit which was helpful. Could use a few more drinking glasses and ice cube trays, but other than those small things, I highly recommend staying here.
Perfect for a couple looking to getaway and relax. The cabin was very clean and presentable, alot of space in the kitchen/dining area. Nice little deck out back to sit and drink your morning coffee and listen to the birds chirping. Nice fire pit to sit around at night and relax. Area has a lot of things to do and see, just a little bit of a drive to some. We definitely will rent this cabin again.
Very quiet and relaxing getaway at this cabin. It was centrally located for our needs. We really enjoyed our stay!!!
