About this property

Duck Cove Waterfront Cottage

STR License - STRN-24-52

Come enjoy our charming, fully updated and renovated waterfront cottage located in the Eastern Shore sleepy village of Neavitt. Watch the waterfowl out on the water. Come enjoy the quiet. Come enjoy the beauty of the Chesapeake. Come for a romantic weekend.

The space
We continuingly make improvements to our property. Every part of this property has been refreshed, including the landscaping, the complete interior, and the furnishings. You will find the cottage very comfortable with updated central air conditioning and heating. There is a laundry room equipped with a modern washer and dryer. The bathroom is spotlessly clean, updated, and has a beautiful marble tile floor.

Do you have bad knees? Are you a little older and not as nimble as you once were. Well, check out our recently added Yakport boarding device. This makes getting in and out of kayaks very easy and safe. See our photos and check out Yakport on YouTube. Now nearly anyone can get out on the water. Note: The Yakport and kayaks are not available in the off season due to the danger of falling in the cold water and the hypothermia risk.

Should you desire to cook, you will find this cottage completely outfitted with a gourmet kitchen that is fully equipped and a joy to cook in. If you prefer, enjoy cooking on the outdoor grill, propane is included.

The living room has an entertainment center with flat screen smart TV, and a DVD/Blue Ray player. There are some DVDs for your pleasure. The smart TV is set up with Netflix, Amazon Prime, cable, and other streaming apps.

The bedrooms are nicely furnished and have wonderfully comfy beds. The master has a flat screen TV with Roku and cable TV. The second bedroom has a TV with built in DVD player. You will also find books to read and brochures to help you check out some of the activities available in our area.

In the fenced back yard, you will find a shed with crabbing supplies, accessories such as life jackets and paddles for the kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and canoe. There are also four bikes and extra chairs for guest use.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire home, the waterfront, and our pier with floating dock.

You will not have access to the attic or garage.

Parking is for two cars, basically one spot in front of the garage, and one other space we will show you on arrival, should you need a second spot. Please no more than two cars on the property.

Other things to note -
Neavitt is a very special place. Our cottage sits in a magical spot overlooking the tranquil waters of Duck Cove and Balls Creek. The estuary contains many species of native birds. Watch the morning sunrises. If you are lucky, you may see a beautiful moonrise over the water on some evenings.

This is the perfect place to sit by the water and enjoy the wildlife. Enjoy a fire in the stone firepit at the water's edge.

For a bit more adventure you can kayak, paddle board, or canoe from our floating dock on Duck Cove heading out onto Balls Creek. These back creeks are some of the same places where watermen have worked the waters of the Chesapeake for generations. There are four kayaks, two stand up paddle boards and a canoe available your enjoyment.

We have four guest bikes and suggest a short bicycle ride to Neavitt boat landing. Check out the Osprey nest there. It's on the navigational marker.

As nice as our property and the Neavitt peninsula is, you'll want take time for a short drive of around ten minutes to St. Michaels. There you will enjoy the towns many charms. Don’t miss the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Plan at least half a day at the museum. There you will learn much about the history of the Chesapeake. Enjoy the first-class shopping and dining in town. There are many fine dining options. We are happy to help with recommendations and will message you with these and more information before your arrival.

Be sure to check St. Michales and the Maritime Museum websites for the many festivals, events, boat shows, and car shows that our area has to offer.

If you are planning a visit during the Fourth of July holiday, you will find many of the surrounding towns have fireworks displays. We recommend going to the Maritime Museum. Also note on the fourth of July weekend, It is open in the evening to allow folks to watch the fireworks. Check for dates on their website. The museum's Navy Point is an ideal location to view the show. The fireworks are set off from a barge on the water right in front of Navy Point. Over this holiday weekend you'll have other options as nearby towns also have fireworks displays on staggered nights, such as Oxford, Tilghman Island, Kent Narrows and others.

Another adventure not to be missed is an intriguing drive though some of Maryland’s beautiful Eastern shore to Tilghman Island. Taking about a half hour, you’ll pass farms and country estates on your way. Once on Tilghman, and just a bit past the draw bridge, be sure to eat at our favorite breakfast place called Two If by Sea. We love this special place that will have you feeling like you’ve dropped back to a time now long forgot. It’s staffed by friendly folks that will have you coming back. It is totally charming. Chef Henry’s cooking is amazing. Try the crabby eggs benedict. Be patient, they are often busy, but the food is worth the wait.

Perfect Get-a-way!
I really can't say enough good things about this property and the host. Tim met us when we arrived and went over everything, even had donuts for us! The cottage is lovely and the cleanest place I have ever visited! The view was spectacular and the girls enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards. We enjoyed morning coffee on the dock and then the short trip to St. Micheals and Easton for dining and shopping. Tim recommended "two if by sea" for breakfast on Tilgman Island and OMG, it did not disapoint! Basically we can't wait to come back! And we will, my girls say they can't wait! Thank you Tim for opening your cottage for us, it was magical! :)

Calm Retreat!
This home on the water could not have been more perfect! A ten minute drive to St. Michael’s. 20 minute drive to Easton. We even drove into Oxford, which I highly recommend! My husband was in heaven on the dock fishing. Riding bikes was easy and safe. Paddle board and kayak fun! You can’t go wrong with this place! Highly recommend! Tim was great!

Spectacular property!
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Duck Cove cottage and were blown away by how perfect it was. Tucked away at the end of a very quiet street in a very quiet neighborhood the cottage had everything we could need. We kayaked, rode bikes, sat by the water and took walks through the beautiful neighborhood. Tim is an excellent host who was very responsive to our questions. He recommended Sail Salina and although it was pricey, it was well-worth the splurge. We went at 7:30 PM and had a beautiful sunset. The cottage is well-equipped and was spotless upon arrival. We would come back for sure! Thank you, Tim!

My wife and I are an older couple. We love the Chesapeake, and the Eastern Shore is a beautiful area that is still unspoiled. We love to be on the water, sailing, kayaking, or just watching the wildlife.

Why they chose this property

Neavitt is the kind of place that is getting harder and harder to find. It's a close knit community in a country setting, with a slow pace, and friendly people.

What makes this property unique

We feel our property stands out in that it has the feel, not of a rental property, but a property with many special touches that make it feel more like a home.
