About this property

Heavenly Waterfront Retreat - Lake Memphremagog near Jay Peak and Burke Mountain

Completely unwind in this spectacular all season, recenty remodeled waterfront home on lake Memphremagog. You can play all day, hiking, biking, skiing and enjoy glorious sunsets from the dock, spacious living room or master bedroom. The sounds of lapping water will lull you to sleep.

This waterfront home is on a point of land reaching out into lake Memphremagog just below the Canadian border. It is extremely private with a beach, lawn, a large dock and deck. It borders almost 1000 acres of US and Canadian preserve with walking paths. There is also a five mile long bike path that will take you to the town of Newport, perfect for biking or walking. Or you can cross the border and the path will take you about 20 miles into Canada. The paths are also great for X-country skiing and are groomed by a local ski association. There's plenty to do in every season, great restaurants, biking, tennis, watersports (you can moor your boat right to our dock), and hiking. The house is about 40 minutes from Jay Peak or Burke Mountain. You can also explore the Quebec's quaint Eastern Townships just over the border. Just 10 minutes from our house on the Canadian side is a terrific french bakery, so don't forget your passport, as you may be making frequent border crossings!

Our guests love the fact that our house is not a turnkey rental but a beloved family home, with many recent updgrades. In 2020, we added large dining room flooded with light and lake views and just completed renovations on our state-of-the-art kitchen in May 2024. Enjoy our fully stocked pantry and cooking pans and gadgets galore to cook up a fantastic family meal.

In summer months there are plenty of ways to enjoy the lake with 2 paddle boards, 3 single kayaks and 2 two-person kayaks for available for your use.

For those who need to work during their stay, we have starlink wifi and separate office with lake views and everything you need to plug your laptop into a workstation with two monitors and a laser printer.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING THE SUMMER, WE ONLY RENT SUNDAY TO SUNDAY.

LAKE/QE fun

The house is waterfront and has all of for the amenities for a comfortable stay including beautiful lake views, conservation walks, swimming, brilliant sunsets and eagles. We spent some time in Quebec townships finding good food, shopping and the Nordic spa with easy boarder crossing at Beebe plains and easy drives to township destinations. The host provided a welcome document that included information on a multitude of activities, restaurant, and sites. As Northeast Kingdom Vermont residents, we found the the lake and QE were special.

Beautiful, private home with small beach

This is our 4th time staying and we love it more and more each year. A perfect spot for our family to unplug, enjoy the lake, bike and explore the nearby hiking trails. There’s no place quite like it where you feel disconnected from everything and yet are a 10 minute drive to any amenities you’d need.

Beautiful Lake House

We had a awesome week at Nina's house. It's a great location near the bike path. It has a sheltered sandy beach that's great for young kids. We were happy to stay their for our third year in a row

Idyllic lake getaway

Beautiful and conveniently located lakefront home with a small beach perfect for little kids. Great hiking and biking trails close by and a spot to moor the boat right off the dock. Remote enough for some R&R, but close enough to downtown Newport to easily access restaurants and shops. We had a great stay!

Great location on the Lake I grew up on.

Great outdoor decks and docks right on the Lake to enjoy with my Family. The Dining Room addition was a great enhancement. The Smart TV on first floor allowed me to mirror my IPhone to share a Video Tribute I created for my Mom’s Memorial Service. A+ location and well maintained home that is 100 years old. The Host (Nina Farber) was always available and very flexible with our change of plans.

Lovely Lakeside Home

This house and property has it all: fantastic location, privacy and packed with plenty to keep any group busy, from kayaks, paddle boards and bonfire to pool table, books and games galore! The decks and lawn were quite spacious as well. The owner was extremely friendly and prompt to respond. We definitely recommend this lovely home!

Wonderful, relaxing piece of heaven on Memphremagog.

Beautiful, spacious, clean house with all the amenities of home. Large kitchen and bedrooms, wonderful game room in basement. Located in a quiet cove on the lake with sandy beach, huge dock, kayaks, and near the bike trails. We had a great family vacation week in July, boating, swimming, fishing, biking, and just relaxing at this peaceful location. We hope to return next year!

Great House with amazing views

We stayed at this rental property for one week and had a fantastic time. The views on the patio, dock, living room and master bed room are amazing and we really enjoyed watching the sunset every night off the dock. The house has everything you need for basics and alot of extras with mountain bikes and kayaks to keep your days busy and a green egg for bbqing. The location is great. Just off the house are great spots for walking and biking around the lake with great views and bout a 10 minute drive to town for restaurants and shopping and 30 minutes to lake Willoughby and Jay Peak for hiking and other adventures. The house has plenty of space for several families and lots of games too, including a pool table. I would come here again the next time I am in the Northeast Kingdom.

Wonderful house and property

My family rented this house in early August. It is a wonderful home on a spectacular piece of land. The pictures really do not do the place justice - especially the view from the master bedroom. The house has everything and even a bunch of games for the inevitable rainy Vermont day. You will love this place!

About the host

Hosted by Nina Farber

Host profile image
We are a lawyer and law professor with four adult daughters who live in Boston and have longtime ties to the mountains and lakes of Vermont and New Hampshire. We purchased this home in 2015 after having a beautiful camp on Lake Willoughby for 8 years. We fell in love with the Northeast Kingdom and decided we wanted a year round home to enjoy all it's pleasures. We never thought we'd find any spot as glorious and peaceful as our place on Lake Willoughby, but so far we have not looked back. We hear nothing but the wind through the trees on this dead end street that abuts the Canadian border. One one side of our house is water while on the other is a 1000 acre preserve running into Canada. It is truly heaven on earth.

Why they chose this property

We love all the peaceful, flat walking paths and the easy access to great hiking, cross country and downhill skiing while still being close to all the amenities we could desire. We have also fallen in love with the great restaurants serving locally grown food. Our house on Lake Willoughby was passed down through the generations from my great grandfather and we thought we'd never leave it, but this is truly a step up and now that we have an easily accessible year round home we hope to retire in the NEK!

What makes this property unique

Our property is truly unique in feeling very remote but at the same tiime having easy access to everything you need.
