About this property

NEW! Lower level apartment, firepit, close to ACADIA, Lighthouse, SWHbr hikes.

🌟This apartment space has seen a complete renovation and is ready for your stay! All new appliances, mattresses, linens, furnishings, and a comfortable layout add up to a great spot from which to enjoy your Acadia vacation. Spit spot clean and, despite its lower level location, is bright and sunny with plenty of personal touches to make it feel cozy. The owner resides in the house above you, but, don't worry, she knows how to maintain a low profile and leave you to relax by the fire pit or explore Mt. Desert Island to your heart's content! Several favorite eateries are near this home, not to mention the ferry to Swan's Island for a fun day adventure! And - if you play your cards right - the owner will throw in a proper lobster bake at her favorite shore destination!

FIRST FLOOR: Enter through a private entry and step down to the lower level. To the left, a large, comfortable living space with large screened TV, recliners, and a table that comfortably seats four. A newly re-done Kitchen features all new appliances, washer dryer, and plenty of counter space for meal prep. Step up to the small, but serviceable, Full Bath with walk in custom tiled shower. Two Bedrooms, one with a Queen and one with a Double Bed are cozy and bright. Worries about the lack of AC? Not an issue - given its lower level situation, this space is quite cool in the summer and additional fans will ensure your comfort when required.

OUTDOOR SPACES: Shared yard space with homemade fire pit (extra points if you can guess what the fire pit was made from!), picnic table, and chairs for relaxing and star gazing. Off-street parking, and plenty of natural green fencing to shield you from neighboring properties.
*Pets considered on a case by case basis $150 per pet, please inquire!

Pleasant, quiet, and all the amenities

The property is obviously relatively new, and therefore very clean and modern. The kitchen and bathroom were very well stocked, the bed was very comfortable (despite the noisy mattress pad). Very handy to have a washer and dryer on site. The owner and upstairs resident was more than nice and accommodating. Would highly recommend if you want peace and quiet after a day of hiking the Park.

Couldn’t have been a better stay

We stayed here while visiting Acadia National Park and it was absolutely perfect. Upon arrival the host met us and gave us a warm welcome. The spot was private and didn’t feel like our privacy was compromised. It took us about 25 minutes to get to Bar Harbor/ the national park. However, we were only 5 minutes from the famous Bass Harbor Lighthouse. The host was very thoughtful and provided everything we needed for our stay down to body wash. Just note you want to bring your own drinking water as there is no filtered water here. Overall we had an amazing stay and would highly recommend Marla’s place!

Newly renovated apartment in great location

Comfortable beds and furniture in a location close enough to get to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park without the crowds. The apartment appeared clean but there was a smell which we think was cat urine although cats are not allowed in the apartment. We only slept there as most of our time was spent in Bar Harbor or Acadia National Park. Both Acadia and Bar Harbor were very crowded (third week of September). It was nice to stay on the other side of the park away from the crowds.

Stay for 5 days

Nice and very clean home. Perfect for our trip. Easy to travel to Acadia and Bar Harbor by car. Quiet space in Bass Harbor that also has some beautiful hiking nearby as well. Comfortable for space for our dog. Would recommend to other travelers looking to spend most of the time hiking

Great spot!

The cottage was clean, in great order, and had everything we needed. It's in a very quiet location, which is just what we were looking for. It's walking distance to the local lobster pound, ice cream joint, and general store. Would happily stay here again!

Just as Advertised

A nice, clean spot on the quiet side of the island, which is our favorite. Everything was as advertised and everything was in good working order. Would stay again if the opportunity comes up.

Bass Harbor

Staying at this property was as expected. Great price, close to a few restaurants and hiking trails. It’s a bit further than we realized from some of the main Acadia attractions, however was a short drive about 20 minutes or so. The owner was available, but kept to herself. It was nice to know she was nearby in case we needed anything. It was a great stay and we recommend it!

Wonderful, comfy place in small-town Maine.

Really loved our stay here - great accomodations, with just one small caveat: The landing inside the entry door was only the size of the door, with steps then going down. This made it difficult to carry things in and out. My simple solution - switch the exterior door to swing outside and problem goes away. That said, we loved the place, and would definitely recommend it!

Acadia National Park

We enjoyed staying on the quiet side of the park. There was still plenty of hikes & sights to see close by and just a short drive to the busy side of the park which we did as well. We enjoyed the accommodations at Paula’s Bar Harbor Hideaway. Paula was very accommodating and helpful with suggestions of things we like to do.
