About this property

Comfortable Home On 3 Private Wooded Acres In The Heart Of Mount Desert Island

We built our home in 2004, cut from over 3 acres of woods in the heart of Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. It sits 1 mile north of Somes Sound, and is within easy reach of hiking, biking, carriage roads, boat tours, and all of the shopping and restaurants to be found in the several quaint towns on the island.

We created our space to gather and connect with family and friends, and hope that you enjoy it, too.

Our home sleeps eight easily. The master bedroom has a king bed and is located on the main floor. Two bedrooms and a full bathroom are on the 2nd floor. The kitchen is fully-appointed to help you create memorable meals; dine inside on our farmhouse table, or eat on the deck. We also maintain a lovely kitchen garden, and welcome guests to pick what they need to round out their meals - it would be a shame for fresh produce to go to waste! After a busy day of adventuring in the park, relax in the deep jacuzzi master tub, or sit by the Solo Stove fire pit and cook S'mores.
We have Free WiFi high-speed internet with Smart TVs located on the main floor and another in the basement room

Great MDI marathon home

We stayed here for the MDI marathon weekend. Spacious, clean and comfortable. Was great to gather at the farmhouse table and relax on the sofa. We had an enjoyable stay and would come back in a heartbeat.

Beautiful woodland getaway

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our few days at this beautiful home! It was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. And the property is gorgeous! It truly is a woodland paradise, and was a welcome retreat after busy days in the crowded park and town.

Bar Harbor - Acadia

The property is great - ideally located for spending lots of time at Acadia and very comfortable. Kirk is a wonderful and responsive host. Highly recommend this property.

Extraordinary Stay

Perfect location. Lovely home and property. Obviously well cared for and owner was most responsive and flexible. We enjoyed the outside patio table and plenty of room inside with well equipped kitchen - we ate in several nights. Location could not be better - 10 minutes to groceries, Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain and park entrance. Best lobster roll ever is right down the street - The Traveling Lobster!

Perfect Acadia Homestead

This was the perfect getaway location. Nice amenities, enough seclusion but still close to all the desirable destinations. The owner was wonderful and considerate to our needs. This is the type of place you want to come back to time and time again.

FernHaven is a lovely, warm and inviting home. The owners have it stocked with all the necessary amenities plus lots of extras. The location is a great jumping off spot for activities in the area. The owners are very attentive and easy to reach.

What a wonderful propery

I can’t say enough good things about this home and the proprietors. The house was immaculate and tons of room and special touches for guests. They went the extra mile to make it a guest friendly experience. The owners reached out early to offer advice on activities a d were very friendly. The location makes you feel like you are away from it all, yet only 20 min from anywhere you want to be.

Great home!

Stayed here as our home base near Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. It was a great home. Plenty of space to spread out. Good parking, driveway well marked and easy to find. It felt out by itself, yet we were close to things. Acadia was about 16 minutes away. Would definitely recommend.

Comfortable, roomy and peaceful!

A lovely quiet spot to spend time with family. There wasn't anything that I wished for that wasn't already there. They have thought of everything. It's just a short distance from Bar Harbor or hiking or swimming. Or just stay there and use the hot tub, have a cook out, or make smores. Plenty of space to spread out inside or outside and plenty of good cooking equipment too!

Loved Fernhaven

A gorgeous dog friendly property in the woods just north of Sommes Sound. Very private and quiet. Easy commute to either Bar Harbor or Southwest Harbor. Nicely equipped, great kitchen and very comfortable master bedroom with a comfortable king bed. Meeting Kirk was special... very accomodating owners. Would be large enough for a family; for the two of us and our shy golden retriever it was perfect.

Very good stay

My wife and I and our two dogs had a great stay. We were lucky to find Fernhaven. It's a short drive to Acadia, cafes, restaurants, etc., and the property is a nice place to relax, private, set back from main roads. Kirk was very accommodating and responded quickly to any questions.

Amazing Week!
