About this property

Historic Withee Home / 3rd Level / Sleeps 2

Enjoy a unique stay in the historic W.W Withee La Crosse mansion! This third floor suite is centrally-located in the heart of La Crosse amongst other beautiful historic homes. The space features WiFi, a smart tv, comfortable queen bed, and lovely historic charm. The kitchen area is equipped with a Keurig coffee maker and all your cooking basics. Enjoy a nice weekend exploring the La Crosse area and spending the nights in a stylish, unique place! Also offering one night stays!

The Historic W.W. Withee House was constructed in 1897 for W.W. Withee, a La Crosse lumberman and president of the Security Savings Bank. The home is a significant example of one of the few brick interpretations of the Queen Anne style and is one of the few remaining well preserved mansions built by the lumber barons who made La Crosse history. The original home included a bowling alley in the basement (which still exists and is being restored!) and a ballroom on the third floor - where this suite is located!

Please be respectful and mindful of other guests and of the home. Access to the 3rd floor suite will be through the front entrance and shared hallway and approximately 35 stairs lead up to the top. We will provide you with a keypad entry code for your stay in Suite 4.

*Please note size of shower. It is very small and at a strange slant. Most will have to slightly crouch while using.
Also, this is an old, historic home. The floors will creak in spots!*

Short Stay in a Piece of History

We were delighted with our stay. From booking to check out Emma was a wonderfulful host. Check-in was a breeze, instructions were clear. The home itself has been lovingly preserved to be shared and experienced by guests. The neighborhood was equally as impressive and filled with historic homes. When staying at the property, which I highly recommend, be sure to take time to walk through the neighborhood

Nice

The suite was nicely renovated for a historic building. There is a cute Christmas tree for the season. The furniture is retro and stylish but not very functional if you want to spend time in it like I did. Difficult to read a book on the couch or chairs, not able to lean back or put feet up. The tall dining table is also a book shelf, very cute, but need to straddle your legs around it.No counter space in the kitchen, but I used the shelf from kitchen to the living space to set my coffee and plate for food. I would rate a 3.5. food.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities, communication
The bathroom is outdated, with worn out and broken fixtures. There is no flat surface anywhere to place a hair brush, much less a make-up or shaving kit. A total make over of the bathroom is needed and a lack of general maintenance on this property is obvious.
