About this property

Awesome Large Open Concept 2 Bedroom Warehouse Loft in Downtown Burlington

In probably the most ideal location in Downtown Burlington, this second floor Warehouse Loft is our largest offering. It was specifically permitted and recently renovated for short term use. It is kept immaculately clean, it's uncluttered, and open.

The building started life as an icehouse around 1900. Today there are three lofts on the floor, each one unique and all offered on short term platforms. The owners also operate a home furnishings consignment store (Anjou) on the first floor.

Location: It is about a block and a half from the Burlington Waterfront on Lake Champlain to the West (Burlington Bike Path, Echo Science Center, Burlington Boardwalk, Waterfront Park, and Amtrak Rail Station) and less than 3 blocks from Church Street Marketplace to the East. You can easily walk to shops, restaurants, and downtown events from the loft. The University of Vermont (UVM) and the UVM Medical Center are about one mile away. The Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport (BTV) is about 4 miles and a 15 minute ride to the East. There is a popular restaurant next door (Poco) and the August First Bakery is in the adjacent building. There is a liquor store, creamee stand, deli a few hundred yards away (Burlington Bay Cafe). This is the perfect spot to land for UVM or Champlain College graduation, a wedding, or the Burlington Marathon (the race course often runs past the building and the start and finish are a four minute walk.)

Parking: One off street parking spot is included with the rental.

Sleeping accommodations: There are two open sleeping alcoves (rooms) with sheer curtain entries.

About the host

Host profile image
I grew up in New Jersey but I've lived in Burlington since I graduated from Hobart College in 1984. My wife and I met here in Town and we originally bought the building in 1999 to house my Architectural Salvage Warehouse antique house parts store. We sold the business in 2004 and shortly after that my wife started Anjou home furnishings consignment store on the first floor (open Saturdays 10-5 and Sundays 11-3, or by chance). The second floor was then leased to others until the lease ended and we decided to renovate the space. We own the August First Bakery building next door and our first short term rental above the bakery was extremely successful so we decided to create more rentals here. Being a host allows me to maintain the property to my standards and to share what I know and love about Burlington.

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood is perfect for short term rental. We are close enough to walk to everything downtown and the gorgeous Burlington Waterfront.

What makes this property unique

There are several things that make this property outstanding:

The building was built as a storage and sales facility for chunks of ice harvested from the Lake around the turn of the last century. Ice was sold out of the front of the building at wagon height on Main Street. The posts and beams and scale of the building will connect you with the richness of it's past.

It is ideal for short term rental because it's in the heart of downtown and practically on the Waterfront but removed enough from Church Street to give you a sense of peace and quiet.

We have onsite parking in the downtown.

You will have a host that actually cares about your comfort and wellbeing.
