I grew up in New Jersey but I've lived in Burlington since I graduated from Hobart College in 1984. My wife and I met here in Town and we originally bought the building in 1999 to house my Architectural Salvage Warehouse antique house parts store. We sold the business in 2004 and shortly after that my wife started Anjou home furnishings consignment store on the first floor (open Saturdays 10-5 and Sundays 11-3, or by chance). The second floor was then leased to others until the lease ended and we decided to renovate the space. We own the August First Bakery building next door and our first short term rental above the bakery was extremely successful so we decided to create more rentals here. Being a host allows me to maintain the property to my standards and to share what I know and love about Burlington.
Why they chose this property
The neighborhood is perfect for short term rental. We are close enough to walk to everything downtown and the gorgeous Burlington Waterfront.
What makes this property unique
There are several things that make this property outstanding:
The building was built as a storage and sales facility for chunks of ice harvested from the Lake around the turn of the last century. Ice was sold out of the front of the building at wagon height on Main Street. The posts and beams and scale of the building will connect you with the richness of it's past.
It is ideal for short term rental because it's in the heart of downtown and practically on the Waterfront but removed enough from Church Street to give you a sense of peace and quiet.
We have onsite parking in the downtown.
You will have a host that actually cares about your comfort and wellbeing.
