We had a wonderful week staying in Trenton. The house was close to everything we wanted to visit. My family of 6 adults felt very comfortable in the house. Very Nice, Well Appointed Home
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was very well appointed with all the cooking, bedding, bathroom items anyone could ask for. We appreciated how clean everything was and how the kitchen was very well laid out for preparing meals. Plenty of room for our family of 7. Great location near Acadia and lots of restaurants and grocery stores. Highly recommend.

Acadia Family Vacation
The property was perfect for our family. The house was beautiful and had all the amenities we needed. There was plenty of room and it was very comfortable. Having the room on the lower level gave my husband and me privacy and quiet away from our children and grandchildren on the top floor, and as early risers, we did not disturb them. It was conveniently located to the grocery store and restaurants in Trenton, and not too far from Acadia. We would definitely stay again when vacationing in the area.

Cozy & Clean Cottage
I was there with 2-couple friends to enjoy coastal Maine and Acadia National Park. The home was clean and well equipped for comfortable living the week we were there. The furnishings are nice and plenty of our party of 5; the beds were comfortable with bedrooms having dressers and bed storage to unpack for the week. Lovely Cottage and only about 25 minutes from Acadia. Trenton had an ample grocery store w/i 10 minutes from house and Ellsworth about 20 minutes was a bit larger, so a few more options in terms of shopping and Restaurants. Quiet and serene setting. You can't go wrong with a stay at Oak Cottage. The Owner, June is very responsive to any questions and forthcoming with local information which was very helpful.

Home away from home
This comfortable and clean home gave my family a wonderful first experience with Maine. Close to shopping and other attractions. Offerings of a quiet yard and gazebo, gave us plenty of amazing family time and wildlife sightings like deer, turkey, birds and gopher. Relaxing and fun!

House is beautiful
The house met all our needs. It was fully stocked and beds were very comfortable. It took a bit of time to figure out the televisions so some written instructions by each one would be helpful. Wi-Fi worked well. We enjoyed playing games every evening with the provided games. The kitchen is stocked well with dishes and cookware and all the appliances worked. June was very responsive and a pleasure to worked with. I would recommend this rental.

Fantastic family vacation in a perfect house!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Oak Point Cottage in Trenton. Just a short drive to Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park. Homeowner was the most communicative of all short term rental homes we’ve ever stayed in! Left us a Maine inspired goodie bag we thoroughly enjoyed. Beds super comfy & house was very clean on arrival. Perfect home for 6 adults & a baby. Would definitely stay here again!

Fabulous!
Our week at Oak point cottage was wonderful! Highlights were super comfortable mattresses and a stunning outdoor room, in addition to the most well-appointed kitchen I have ever seen at a vacation home. Guest computer, large-screen TV's -- everything they advertised and more! Loved it!

Quiet and comfortable
The house was very clean and beautifully kept. June was very accommodating and addressed any issuesm there was a power outage in the county when we arrived. She called me to trouble shoot and figure out what was going on. She also provided a gift for our stay! The beds were so comfortable! The location is close to everything! Definitely would stay here again!

Great Home Base
We were up in the 2nd week of Oct. for leaf peeping. The home was the perfect base for going out and exploring the area. Close enough to Bar Harbor for great seafood and shopping for the ladies but out in the country enough to be away and relax. June was great to work with and the welcome package was a nice touch. I would definitely use this property again if we go back to Maine!

Perfect location near Bar Harbor and Acadia
My family - 6 adults and one 11 month old - stayed in this home for a week while we explored Bar Harbor and Acadia. The house is so nice and the location is great! It’s secluded and private and just a short drive to our destination each day. The Sugar Bakery has great coffee and pastries and is right around the corner! The house itself was loaded with amenities - anything you could want in the kitchen, all top quality appliances, more than enough linens, all the household and bathroom supplies we needed, an extensive DVD collection, working wi-fi, and comfy beds with A/C in each room. The screened in veranda out back was so nice!! And the hostess, June, was very sweet and always responsive. She left us such a generous gift bag full of goodies to enjoy! I can tell she loves her home in Maine and I can’t say enough about how nice it is!

It doesn't take long to recognize that June (the owner) takes pride in her guests' experience
We've stayed at several VRBO's over the years, and almost always find them to be pleasant, comfortable, and well maintained. This Oak Point cottage was a top performer in our view. It's location is excellent, only 20-25 minutes away from wherever you want to be on the island, close to conveniences located in Trenton and Ellsworth, and very private on a pleasantly wooded property. Cooking spices were well stocked, and the cookware and appliances were in top shelf condition (sometimes these details are given short shrift by some VRBO owners). By going inland, this delightful cottage was a great value for us compared with any comparable on island alternatives. Although there were only 2 of us, it could comfortably sleep 3 couples, and with a bit of creativity, have plenty of room for some kids. Thank you for an extremely pleasant, comfortable, and convenient base of operations for our MDI activities.

Main stay near coastal Maine
We found this jewel at the last minute after having to cancel a trip to Glacier because of forest fires. How lucky this was a new offering and not filled yet! The home was immaculate. The kitchen was well stocked with gadgets. The bed was very comfortable. Curved screen T.V. to watch in the evening after spending the day in Acadia National Park, or Bar Harbor, or just enjoying the coastal light houses. I know the property is new on Homeaway and June has done a great job putting it together.. The only thing I would recommend is to add local personal recommendations for things to see and places to eat. It would be a nice touch and I am sure this will be added for next season. We loved Jeanies for lunch and Side Street Cafe for lunch both in Bar Harbor at the entrance to Acadia. This will be a difficult property to get at short notice in the future. Thanks for a great place to stay, enjoying a great area. We enjoyed so many great hikes and a lot of wonderful lobster.

Best Rental Experience!
We absolutely loved our stay at June's cozy cottage, minutes away from the bridge to Mount Desert Island and set back from the road on a beautiful quiet property. June was so helpful with the reservation and our many questions. We arrive to find a canvas bag filled with local treats and more treats for us in the refrigerator and freezer, including a delicious blueberry pie! The cottage was very clean and well equipped. The kitchen had everything we could ever need and more. There was plenty of room for our family of 7 adults. The separate gazebo with table and seating allowed for even more space. The cottage also had a huge collection of DVDs and games to enjoy and there was a large TV in the living room and in every bedroom as well as a computer and printer for our use. June's personal touch was evident throughout the cottage, down to the staging of the toiletries provided for us in the bathrooms. June was in touch during our stay to make sure all our needs were met. The trip to Bar Harbor/Acadia took about 15 minutes and we went to there daily during our stay. This is the nicest rental experience we have ever had. Our family highly recommends this rental house to explore Bar Harbor, Acadia and the surrounding area.

OAK POINT COTTAGE
I think I speak for the five of us who shared this lovely retreat. Everything was better than the pictures. We especially loved the screened porch--I even took a little snooze out there. Thank you for making this available for VRBO. We have stayed in many and yours was one of the top rated. Also, thank you for our wonderful goody bag. The items were delicious and we consumed most of them. The rest we shared with relatives in the area. We are blessed to have family nearby. We enjoyed a yacht excursion with friends, had a lobster and oyster feed, bonfire at their home, had a flock of turkeys visit at your place--about 30 in number. So fun to watch. Ran into friends from our hometown in Kansas in Bar Harbor--very small world! We enjoyed the pastries from the Governor's Restaurant and Bakery, yummy food from Dog and Pony Tavern, and pizza at Little Anthony's. Also the haddock (fixed any way) was good at Governor's. All in all, it was a delightful visit to Maine. The trees were just beginning to change color as we left. But we did not plan our trip for the trees--just for a great family reunion. Your home made it very special and we will recommend it to anyone we know is visiting the area. Gig and John Jones Laura and Steve Ferro Mary Lou Giggy

Awesome Rental!
Location was convenient and very peaceful. Exactly what I needed for my vacation and home away from home. June was wonderful to work with. She was always available when I needed her and she offered local information regarding stores/restaurants that turned out to be very helpful. June suggested we try the popular blueberry soda and we did just that. YUM! We ended up buying a bunch up and bringing it home with us. Unfortunately , it didn't last long. Absolutely loved my stay, rental, and area. The views were incredible! Fall time in Maine is mind blowing. Gorgeous! Beds in this cottage will comfortably sleep six and then the couch is available. The cottage came fully equipped....I only had to purchase food. June provided small health and beauty aids in every bathroom, towels, etc. She even had a tote bag full of wonderful goodies upon arrival. Nice touch! !! The only recommendations I have is supply some instructions on how to use the Smart TV system. We eventually figured everything out but for some they might find the process frustrating. TVs were great though and they were available in every room. Also, consider adding some throws. Those are my only two recommendations. Thank you, June, for helping create a perfect vacation for my family.

About the host

I grew up in Maine residing for the first few years of my youth at a lobster pound that my father and uncle operated in Sorrento. My siblings and I spent many hours on the surrounding rocky beach areas exploring tide pools at low tide and developing a love and appreciation for the ocean. The family moved to Mt Desert island in the late 1960's and my father established a business in downtown Bar Harbor. I grew up on the island and spent many of my adult years working at that family business before it was sold in 2000. Though I no longer live in Maine, I am drawn back to the ocean and the unique beauty of Acadia National Park several times a year. I really enjoy having the opportunity to host other visitor's trips to this beautiful region by providing both quality lodgings and information based on my personal knowledge of the area.

Why they chose this property

Upon first seeing this property, I was taken with its bright and cheery personality--wonderful qualities for a vacation home. Its location and quality are comparable to my other property and will be an option for those who are looking for facilities that are nearby for larger parties or several families traveling together who want separate accommodations.Or, for those who periodically ask if we have any other properties comparable to when it isn't available.
Being from this area and having worked in downtown Bar Harbor for many years, I appreciate the appeal of having a restful atmosphere to return to after a day of hectic activity in order to rejuvenate for the next day's excursions. This is the type of home and location that I personally would choose for a visit to this region.

What makes this property unique

In addition to being close to Mt Desert Island, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and the other island communities, this property is also equidistant to Ellsworth where the superior grocery shopping is to be found. For those interested in seafood, there are a number of lobster pounds to be found on Rt. 3 just 5 minutes from the cottage. Though the ocean is not visible through the woods from the property, it is actually only about 1,000 feet from the shoreline. Just a few feet down the street is an open field with a view of Western Bay and the "mountains" of Acadia National Park, indicating the cottage's proximity to the ocean.
