About this property

Our home is very clean with most of the interior being knotty pine throughout, including the bedrooms. It has a fully equipped kitchen , nice big windows to enjoy the lake views, not to mention the gorgeous sunsets. Complete entertainment center with a 42" smart/ flat screen TV with DVD/CD player. Beautiful views of the calm, all sports lake from the large front deck; with 125 ft. of water frontage. Sandy bottom!! Fish off the double wide, T shaped, fiberglass dock, sun tan, or just relax. It has hook up's for docking your boat, and other water toy's. (public access is just two lots away).
Our cottage is centrally located with Traverse City, Torch Lake, Boyne City, Schuss Mtn. and Shanty Creek all within a half an hour away. We are located six miles east of downtown Kalkaska. There are many opportunities for Up North adventure, such as visiting Mackinac Island, Petoskey , Charlevoix, and Indian River. For the golfers there are three golf courses within five miles of our lake house. For the snowmobile and ATV enthusiasts, you can literally take off from our lake house to join up with the main riding trails!! not to mention mountain bike, hike etc. Early morning walks around the lake are a personal favorite, the wild life and scenery are simply beautiful. Our lake house comfortably sleeps 8 people. There are 3 bedrooms plus a queen sofa sleeper in the living room. Two of the bedrooms have a queen bed, and the 3rd has 2 trundle beds. There are two bathrooms-one full bath with tub and shower and the half bath is located right off the laundry room at the back entrance. The living room has a gas fireplace. You can enjoy roasting hot-dogs or S'mores over an open fire in one of our two fire pits. There is also a covered patio complete with gas-grill and prep table off the kitchen entrance.
Lastly, we have a Pontoon boat for rent, for those who would like to go out on the lake ! Please note , that this is a separate rental from the cottage rental.
From the second weekend in June through the end of September, we rent by the week only. From Saturday to Saturday. We hope to make your vacation a wonderful, relaxing and memorable experience. Sincerely, Rick & Teresa

On a local visiting holiday, we had a ccomfortable cottage to relax in.

We had a beautuful winter holiday and this warm homely cottage became great base for visiting locally and spending comfortable days inside when the Northern Michigan winter and Mother Nature said stay inside. The cottage was beautifully equipped for the preparation of some splendid meals and our hosts were lovely people who were happy to help us out. The proximity to Kalkaska and the winter view of Crawford Lake attracted us in the first instance and this proved to be great choice, as there were some marvelous sunsets and winter play and recreation on the frozen lake, which was a pleasure to watch. A great winter holiday and experience that was completely different for an Australian couple.

Relaxing

Quiet Crawford lake in ranch style cottage. Very nice place and liked cooking on BBQ and Black stone under covered porch. Dock was great to park our boat and we enjoyed fishing, boating and tubing. We had a wonderful time and wanted to stay longer.

The Grand Traverse Bays- East and West

What fabulous scenery around both bays. Lovely beaches, and cherry groves and wineries. Charming towns views spectacular! A good place to stay to wander the gorgeous area.

We spent two weeks at Crawford Lake and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was clean, and comfortable and suited us well. The week included boating, fishing, bike rides, smores, relaxing, playing games, short walks, and quiet lake serenity. It's a great place, a great vacation. The only problem was our trip ended.

A weeks summer getaway

Our family experience was great. We were an extended family ages 7 - 69. Most of our adventures circled around fishing. We moored 2 boats at the dock and they went out in morning and evening to troll and still fish. There also was fishing off the dock for pan fish. Everyone caught something but we are catch snd release fisherman. The younger 2 went out tubing with their Mom and Uncle and and had a ball!! I could hear them laughing from the front deck. Inside the house there was everything available that we needed to cook almost every meal we ate. The place was clean and pretty spacious. It was close enough to town so we could hop over there for supplies. All around nice time.

Family Reunion

We have a small cottage on the lake and needed extra space to have family up. There Was plenty of room to spread out and the owners were accessible for any issues, even our late check in. Love our lake! It’s a quiet slice of heaven!

Once again a great place to stay

This is the second year in a row staying here and everything was perfect. The view of the lake is amazing. The house is awesome. It’s not too far from Kalkaska if you need items. I would definitely stay here again and hoping to in the summer to enjoy the water. Thanks again for hosting us.

Great location and view of the lake

We come to Kalkaska every year for upland bird hunting with our German Shorthaired Pointers. We are always looking for a property that will acccomodate us and our furr family. This place did a great job with that. We enjoyed the coziness of the gas fireplace and the view of the beautiful lake.

Awesome lake house

The place was really awesome and right on the lake could go swimming right out the back door and the place looked better than what the pictures show. The bed in the small room was very comfortable and the manager was very friendly and easy to work with she got back with you right away if there was any problem. My family and I would stay at your place again very beautiful house. We had a wonderful time at the lake house so clean and comfortable. The recliner couch and chair was a added bonus everything was well kept up and sitting outside on the deck watching the sun set was really relaxing. Thank you for everything we had a wonderful time at your lake house.

Location, location, LOCATION!!

This very cute cottage could not be in a better location! We wanted a vacation that we could ride our ORV’s, but also wanted to be lakefront. This has it all, beautiful views of the quiet all sports Crawford Lake and we could ride the side by sides and quad right from the cabin to the trails!

NICE HOME ON QUIET LAKE

The home offers a nice, clean space for a family vacation. While indoors the bathrooms definitely need updating, the outdoor space was lovely with plenty of room for yard games, bonfires, and lake toys.

Truly Wonderful!!

This property is perfect for a relaxing week away on the water!! The residence is exceptionally clean, very comfortable, and has everything you could ever need. It is located very close to Elk Rapids, Torch Lake, and Traverse City just in case you want a little extra something to do. However, the beautiful sunrises, amazing sunsets, and peaceful water coupled with swimming, walking, kayaking, paddle boating, and bonfires are more than enough to fill your days!! Rick and Teresa were absolutely amazing hosts!! You can tell they love their place and truly love sharing it with others. They graciously honored a special request of ours which allowed us to make this vacation happen and they were 150% available whenever we had any questions or concerns. We had originally planned for a vacation in Tennessee which we had to cancel unexpectedly and we are so lucky to have found this place instead. We could not have imagined a better place to spend a week relaxing with family and we are actually grateful that our original plans fell through. Do not hesitate to book here you will not be disappointed!! Thank you again Rick and Teresa for a wonderful stay!!

Great location on a beautiful lake

We enjoyed our stay on beautiful Crawford Lake! Rick and Theresa provided many amenities including kayaks and a paddle boat. We picked sweet cherries about 30 minutes away and enjoyed homemade ice cream at a local farm. My favorite spots were either in the kayak on the lake or on the front porch overlooking the lake. A little bit of northern Michigan heaven!

Time to unwind

The house is beautiful and spacious. The view is perfect. The neighborhood was quiet and relaxing. Nearby grocery and restaurants made things easier for my family. Quiet peaceful Lake

We stayed at the cottage for 5 days and we were not ready to leave. The house is close enough proximity to different area attractions. We took day visits to Petoskey, Charlevoix and Sleeping Bear Dunes. We also enjoyed spending days at the house kayaking, fishing and swimming. The owners are wonderful and put so much thought into making the cabin beyond comfortable for their guests. My family and I will definitely stay again!

Quiet week away

The house and property were extremely clean and exactly as advertised. Most everything we could have needed was available for our use. Kitchen items, a grill, a griddle, linnens.. I dont think there was anytime where we said "I wished there was ____". The owners were extremely nice and were helpful checking us in and giving us the lay of the place. We rented their pontoon for the week and it was worth every dollar. We will miss our evening boat rides around the lake. Thank you for a wonderful week!

We have lived in Kalkaska for the past 33 years. I was even born in the Kalkaska hospital. Therefore, I am a true native! My husband Rick however, is a' transplant' from Plymouth Mi. He moved here to marry me! After this many years here, he is now considered a " Local-Yoko" as well. We have two children. Our son is 32, and our daughter is 22 yrs. old. We are also grandparents to two sweet little boys! We have lived out here at Crawford Lake for 33 years now. We love it here and this is why we purchased our lake front cottage in June of 2012. The cottage is just across the lake from our primary home. This makes it perfect for our venture of renting our cottage as a vacation get away /retreat. Again, we love Crawford Lake so much, as well as the surrounding area , so we thought why not share it with others! So, that's what we did!! We are loving meeting new people and making new friends. Our guests have been wonderful and we are grateful to have had them stay with us. So far, they love it here as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

What attracted us to the area is the fact that you have access to so many fun and exciting out door activities. There is skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing,dirt-biking, four-wheeling, hiking, boating, swimming, water-skiing, fishing, golf;and the list goes on! It is just so very peaceful and beautiful . The scenery and wildlife are breathtaking, and all you have to do is look out the window! Lastly, we love this location because it is only 20 minutes from Traverse City, Torch Lake and the casinos. Perfect!!

What makes this property unique

AHH!... The View . Sitting on the deck or dock having a drink and watching the sun set over the lake and trees will leave you speechless. The fall colors over the lake reminds us of being in the smokey mountains mostly due to the fact that this lake is not jam- packed with homes one after the other. The south end of the lake has no homes, just all cedar trees. You may even catch site of the bald eagles that nest on the south end of the lake!
