About the host
Hosted by Sean Kunkel
My wife and I come from the same town in northern NJ. We've always loved being outdoors and enjoying mother nature together in all her seasons. From long October hikes in the woods with our dog Kota, to relaxing on our boat and fishing in the lake during late spring. I grew up my entire childhood going down to the Jersey shore with my family. Grandparents, parents, younger sister, aunts, uncles and cousins (all 19 of us). Every single summer my whole family would rent a house together for an entire week. Sunup to late afternoon was spent entirely on the beach. Playing in the sand and in the cool ocean waters are some of my best childhood memories. As we all grew older, some moving away to college and some moving for work naturally, the summer weeks spent together down the shore seemed to vanish. As time continued to move on, I couldn't help but think of those cherished summers. The times spent at the Jersey Shore. My wife and I had recently talked both our families into sharing a rental house together for the first time down the shore and afterwords we both agreed that we should continue the tradition and try to make it there year after year. This led us to Seaside Park NJ. Where we found and fell in love with a beautiful old beach house on M street. My father-in-law, who's been a contractor his whole career had helped us fix, repair, paint and brighten up this old home with me and my wife for countless weekends. The more we put our elbow grease into this house, the more our families began to join in the process. Everyone's interest had spiked and we've all put our own touch of love into making it what we feel is the prefect beach cottage. We hope to share this home not only with our families in the years to come, but also with other families. Giving renters the chance to enjoy what the Jersey Shore has to offer just as we did will truly be a full circle dream come true. We love our family. We love this house. We love the New Jersey Shore!
Why they chose this property
Seaside Park, because where else! If you're traveling from North Jersey like us, it's not too far of a drive. The town itself is amazingly peaceful and let’s face it, who doesn’t want some peace while they're on vacation. The streets are less busy and the traffic a bit slower than other shore points, making it easier to get around by bike or on foot. The home itself is, in our opinion, located in one of the most ideal locations. It's an easy walk to the beach, just 3 houses from a convenient 7-eleven and a few more houses away from sunset views of the bay in the opposite direction. For a morning coffee or bagel, there's a wonderful little breakfast and lunch shop (Bella's Bagels) just around the corner. If you're looking to escape the quaintness of Seaside Park, just head up the road! Our home is preciously close to Seaside Heights where you can find yourself with plenty to do. From multiple bars, restaurants and of course the boardwalk, you won’t run out of things to stay entertained. And oh yah, you can easily ride your bike or walk there! On the opposite end of the island, you'll find the famous Bum Rogers Crab House & Tavern for great food/drink and live music every Friday and Saturday night. Just beyond that you can see the Island Beach State Park entrance. The park is one of the largest reserves of untouched barrier island in the county. You can enjoy swimming, surfing, fishing and kayaking in the park. With so much to offer in such proximity, there's nothing not to love about the location of this home and Seaside Park NJ in its entirety.
What makes this property unique
From the outside you'll have an available driveway and free street parking. Then you'll enter a beautiful fenced in backyard with green grass, lovely flowers, a paver patio with outdoor dining and grill for cooking. Enjoy the spacious outdoor shower after a day at the beach before heading inside to the newly finished interior. The first-floor bedroom has its own creative flair with a hand painted brick accent wall and its own on suite bathroom. Brand new living room couch that doubles as a queen pull out bed accompanies a 60-inch Samsung smart TV. At the front of the house, you can escape to the enclosed front porch and relax while watching the sunset land over the bay just down the street. You'll find 3 large bedrooms upstairs with a bonus loft above the master bedroom. Whether you want to read your favorite book high in the loft, enjoy yard games in the backyard, your favorite sports game in the living room or a cool beverage on the porch, everyone is sure to find their happy place here!
