Serenity On Straggle Lake - Harcourt, Ontario

Enjoy a beautiful view of the lake from the deck which surounds this rustic cottage or take an early morning kayak ride with the loons on this pristine lake which is located at the top of the water shed.The cottage is located in Harcourt Park which gives you access to over 7000 sq. km. of walking or riding trails.
You can also enjoy tennis or volleyball next to the community centre.
Cottage has two bedrooms on the main floor and a huge loft with plenty of room for extended family or guests.
Cottage offers paddle boat, kayak, aluminum boat with oars.Water is deep enough for diving off the dock
with no weeds, or take a short boat ride to the island and jump off the rocks.
If you are more adventuress and want to explore Algonquin Park a short drive will take you to the south entrance where horse back riding is offered for a fee.
We have 18 lakes in the property which 4 are motor-less but are stocked annually .

Great stay overall, the cottage is very charming and the lake lake was beautiful.

We had a great stay. The lake and community were very nice, and the island in the middle of the lake proved to be good for hiking.

Haliburton getaway

The property is lovely. It has all the modern amenities while retaining a rustic cottage charm. It is well stocked with everything needed for a great week at the cottage. My family had a wonderful time.

Stairway to Heaven

It’s a lovely remote location. The hosts were amazing and we felt so welcomed from the second we arrived. The roads were a bit tricky but worth the adventure.

So much to do!!

I was really appreciative for Ray as he made an exception and allowed my friends and I to go up even though we weren’t a family. However, I must warn you the drive up was a bit scary and if you aren’t an experienced driver I would prepare for lots of steep hills. The stay was wonderful in general and we had lots of fun cliff jumping on the island in the lake. Great stay :)

Great location

It is a busy lake, but the cottage is located in a nice quiet corner. We had a lovely week, the cottage is great, nicely decorated and with the needed equipment. We enjoyed the dock, the outdoor fire pit and the kids went to the island for the jumping rocks.

Straggle Lake Getaway

The property was quiet and beautiful. There was lots of room on the dock for our family of six to spread out and enjoy the day swimming, paddling, fishing and reading. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was a great escape from the city!

Great Family Getaway

This Straggle Lake cottage had fantastic swimming off of the dock and off the jumping rocks on the island. The lake is great for fishing (we caught large and small mouth bass and some rock bass, heard there is trout too) and the property came with some extras like a floating mat, stand up paddle board and kayak. There is no cell reception but the cottage is comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. The community is lively and friendly. It makes for a great family getaway.

We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is clean and well equipped. The water off the dock is beautiful. I was surprised by the number of stairs from the parking pad to the cottage and the cottage to the dock. I have arthritis and it was difficult for me to get up and down to the dock.

A great place to relax and still have fun

Everything was good in regards to the property,the steps to the cottage from where you park your car was a little steep but it wasn't a huge problem. We all enjoy the cottage the lake and the piece and quiet

A quiet getaway

This is a beautifully kept cottage. Pros include the beautiful deck, a lake with many other cottagers that is good for swimming and boating, and nearby hiking trails. A note about the region, not the cottage property - the cottage road is steep and rutted in parts and is more easily navigated by a 4WD vehicle. There is no cell service for Rogers or Telus at the cottage, and Bell service is spotty.

Beautiful getaway

Beautiful cottage, and property. Loved that there were neighbours but you felt like you were completely alone with all the trees surrounding you. Lovely lake, our kids spent majority of their time jumping in the lake and swimming their hearts out! So close to so many beautiful trails to go hiking and exploring. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our time there!

Serene setting

Great location if you want peace and quietness, lots of space for family to sleep comfortable home with all the amenities needed. Owner was very accommodating and prompt with email response, we will consider another trip to Ray's property.

Cottage is comfortable with lovely view.

Cottage was great with comfy beds and lovely view. The 30 plus steep steps from the parking lot to the cottage were a challenge for my 80 yr old husband.

Cottage is comfortable with lovely view.

Cottage was great with comfortable beds and well equipped. Lovely view. The listing should mention that the 30 plus steep steps from the parking lot to the cottage is difficult for anyone physically challenged. My 80 yr old husband had difficulty getting to and from the cottage. Also the road near the cottage was a challenge. Out family got stuck in the loose gravel on a steep hill that made a sharp turn halfway up. For that reason I suggest taking the water and food needed when you go.

Excellent property and host. Very understanding and hospitable.

The property is great, it has AC a nice living area and all the necessary kitchen commodities. The lake is beautiful and there is a nice island in the centre. The Host, Ray Smith, allowed us to take the kayak, paddle boat and fishing boat out to the Island. I will definitely return.
