Mutchmor House - a great place to stay!
Mutchmor House is well-equipped, perfectly located, and so cozy and quaint. Great coffee shop right around the corner too! The house was perfect for my mom, who had her own little suite on the main floor. Chet was a great and responsive host. I highly recommend!

Family reconnecting
Great area (especially for younger kids). Good base to explore the area. The house was surprisingly modern dressed as a rustic cottage. All the necessary modern conveniences and very clean.

Most beautiful beach in Ontario
It was a joy to be so close to the beach and to have everything we needed. We met a lot of wonderful neighbours and community members - everyone was very friendly. Host was very helpful and communicative. If you are expecting new fixtures and finishes, this isn’t the place for you. If you appreciate historic homes that are cared for and appreciated and a little quirky, this is the place for you. The amount of rooms and space was incredible. Would have appreciated knowing there would be no cleaning service available - while we always leave places better than we found them, we deep clean enough after a young family at home that we don’t enjoy cleaning in vacation. Also the pillows and blankets could use updating. Otherwise, an overall amazing experience and vacation location.

Providence Bay Family Time
Great way to introduce our son and his fiancé to Manitoulin Island. Providence Bay never disappoints. The Mutchmor House is an historic locale to use as a home base to some incredible day trips across the island. Then there’s the beach. Ohh the beach sunsets. ❤️

Great spot
The location was lovely, the beach was pristine, the cottage had an older feel and is doing good at 125 years old. Do note there is no A/C but was comfortable and had everything we needed. Also note there is a security camera at the front door that is monitored regularly by the owner. We really enjoyed our stay on Manitoulin and would return.

Spacious, short walk from the beach
We enjoyed our stay at Mutchmor House. Chet was eager to help and there were lots of extras provided - sand toys, canoe, paddle board, drying rack, full kitchen supplies and various pantry items. Not a big fan of the pay-per-guest model, especially for bigger families. The town was almost empty while we visited, with many places closed or only open Thurs-Sun. We loved that the house was a short walk from the beach, which was made even easier by the wagon available. Overall, a recommend!

Great location for a beach holiday
A great location within a couple minutes walk from beautiful Providence bay beach. On arrival we did have to do some vacuuming and cleaning to meet our standards. We contacted Chet and he did refund our cleaning fee. The kitchen is very well equipped for almost all cooking needs. We did find the bed in the master bedroom a little soft by our standards. The living space is large and comfortable. We unfortunately had a breaker go when a hair dryer was used and Chet guided us through the challenging effort of lifting a bed and carpet to get through a trap door to the basement. Being a cottage in the country there was a concern of mice and we were asked to put out traps. We cleaned before we left and felt we left it in better condition. I would recommend this location for a family holiday vacation and I am sure Chet will fix any shortcomings we may have observed.

Great place to stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mutchmore House. The "cottage" is actually an interesting old home from the late 1800s. It was a great place to stay on the island and had everything you could want - bbq, microwave, fire pit, bicycles, canoe, satellite TV(that we never used). The place was clean and Chet ensures that it stays that way. Chet is a fantastic host (I defy you to find anyone better) and we enjoyed our many conversations with him - especially when he replied to our question with a song, as requested. We would like to return here in the future with the whole family. If you are looking for modern, this isn't for you. If you are looking for charm & character, this is the place. Also close to one of the best beaches on the island.

Great Location, Cottage Needs Work
Positives of this cottage are the location (within 200m of waterfront), communication with the host, and the amenities provided (fast internet, cell reception, fully stocked kitchen). Negatives are a few. When first entering the cottage there is a noticeable musky smell. It became evident why shortly after inspection. There is no bathroom fan in the main bathroom, and the toilet was leaking water from underneath. There was also some soft floor below the linoleum in front of the tub, without which my foot would have gone through the floor. There is no air conditioning, even though there is forced air within the cottage, so it can be very warm and humid depending on the weather. The beds and mattresses (for which you must bring your own sheets) are quite old. In the "en suite", the double bed is a metal frame couch, which is uneven and loud (especially with two sleeping on the bed). Having a baby in the same room forced my husband to sleep in a different room, since we wanted the baby to be away from most of the noise. For the price point of the cottage, I would have expected new mattresses, and sheets provided - cleaned by the host or property management. The cottage was cleaned well by the previous renters in the main areas (this is how the renter expects to maintain cleanliness, with property management coming in to disinfect between renters). Less touched areas (window sills, behind couches, etc..) have considerable dust and many insects. We spent our final day packing our belongings and quite a bit of time vacuuming, wiping down the kitchen and bathrooms. I suspect that the further into the season you are renting, the more hidden dust you may find. I am also not sure if kitchen towels and bathroom floor matts are cleaned between guests. I suspect that they are not.

You Won't Be Disappointed!
Everything was exactly as advertised. The host was gracious, accommodating, flexible, and very available for contact and correspondence. Check-in was a breeze. The property was immaculate. It is obvious that the host takes great pride in ownership. We acknowledge that as a family of seven with disabled children and a service dog, we present with obvious challenges. However, Chet rose to the ocassion. Mutchmor House is a great asset to Providence Bay and a credit to its owners. The Skibinski's expectations regarding guest conduct is high, however that only goes hand-in-hand with their high quality of service and of the accommodation they provide. My family and I look forward to staying here in the future should the opportunity itself.

Vintage home close to the beach and all amenities
Chet was very accommodating as a host, we had to leave a day early due to a family emergency and he changed our dates accordingly. We brought our own bedding and towels. Renters need to bring their own coffee and tissues but all else was there. Thank you Chet.

Beautiful historic and eclectic home
We had such a wonderful time in this home. Perfect for sunny and rainy days. The home has so much character and set up to accommodate for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the home tremendously and will visit again. Hosts were exceptionally kind and helpful. The home was interesting with lots of character. Enough beds and space for our family will most of the amenities required to cover our stay. Thank you for the wonderful time we loved our stay.

Quaint Cottage in a Great Location
We stayed at this charming cottage for 2 weeks. The location is perfectly situated steps away from the beautiful beach in Providence Bay. Our older kids enjoyed using the paddleboat and kayak included at the cottage. The Canada Day fireworks on the beach were stunning (although our dog didn't care for them!). Easy access to other island activities - hiked several trails & went to an Aboriginal Pow Wow (a truly unique experience).

Cozy older home very close to the beach.
Cottage is comfortable and cozy, with touches of the old farmhouse it used to be, such as sloping floors and wood stove. Great windows with good cross ventilation. Kitchen well equipped, good stove and fridge. Big yard, both fenced and unfenced. Firepit and firewood. Beds were OK but mattresses could be renewed. Futon was very lumpy. However, there was a cute loft sleeping area which was really cozy. One good bath/shower; the other shower was a bit cramped for tall people and had a very low toilet. Seating in dining room good but chairs and couch in living room were low and difficult to get in and out of for older or disabled people. Nice upstairs balcony. We would definitely go back.
