A Barn Retreat, with a little rustic.

Experience the beauty of our historic, working farm situated on a hilltop surrounded by miles of majestic granite stone walls. Our farm is home to a variety of happy animals including cattle, pigs, chickens, goats, and horses. No matter the time of day or season, stepping outside grants you breathtaking views of vast open sky, fields, and forests. Inside our guest house, which has been authentically re-built using post and beam construction, you'll discover modern comforts and minimalist decor that promote a sense of tranquility. The sweeping farm views are simply stunning, and you're encouraged to explore the property by taking leisurely walks. From the moment you wake up to a glorious sunrise until you end your day with the sight of the sun setting, you'll feel as though you've escaped to a true vacation getaway. Don’t be alarmed if you’re awakened in the morning by the sound of a lowing cow or a cackling hen.

We love life, home, travel, nature, friends, ideas, and fun. Since 2002, we have owned and operated a popular specialty coffee roastery with a full-service cafe. Our business in just across the Connecticut River in Old Saybrook CT. We are excited to meet our guests and happy to show them around the farm and direct them to fun in the area, but of course you will enjoy privacy and plenty of your own space here at Ashlawn Farm.

What makes this property unique

Ashlawn has been a working farm since 1730, occupied by the same extended family since it was built 300 years ago. Our rural road, Bill Hill, is named for the Capt James Bill who occupied the farm in the late 1800’s. This gentleman farmer built miles of stone walls surrounding fields in the area . The sweeping farm views are gorgeous and our area of Lyme is steeped in history. We have a secret cemetery on our property.
