Catch the North Country Trail, the longest in the National Trails System stretching from North Dakota to Vermont right from our beach! Or drop your kayak into the famous Two Hearted River for some fantastic fishing. Small boat rentals are available in Deer Park and larger charter boat trips in Munising for fishing or scuba diving.

Great Stay

Such a great place! Beach is amazing. Relax, have a fire, do some rock hounding. Great location and home base to see some amazing stuff. Hosts were great and property was exactly as described.

The private beach is amazing!

We spent a few days here and it was amazing! We went down to the private beach and lit a fire. We found a ton of yooper lights! So much peace, fun and relaxation! I wish we hadn't booked activities and could have just stayed and enjoyed this place more.

Location Location Location!

It was so nice to see Lake Superior right out the windows and walk to the beach. This cabin had all we needed to relax and unwind. It’s very clean and cozy. Communication with owner is excellent. We will definitely be back!

Northern lights, agate beach, yooperlites

We had a fantastic time! Being right on the shore, we saw the northern lights the first night there. Walked the beach several times and found some beautiful agates. Last night we were there, we looked for yooperlites and found 3!! Highly recommend!!

Perfect secluded getaway

We loved our stay - the cottage had everything we needed. The beach was private and secluded. Both sand and beautiful rocks. Easy to walk for a few miles. Such a special place, we will definitely be back!

By the Lake

Everything we needed. Layout was a little weird, but workable. Access to beach at property was extremely hazardous. Anyone not mobile and physically fit would not be able to use property stairs. There was good access at end of road, which guests should be made aware of.

Family yooperhunt

We had a wonderful time. The only thing I would suggest is a regular coffee pot. Had everything for it and they only had a kuerig. We just went to the ugly fish bakery for coffee every morning.

A truly special place

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon/rockhounding trip. It was the perfect home base for exploring the UP. The house was more than we expected. It was well stocked with our basic necessities plus so many thoughtful extras. The beach was an absolute rock haven. We found many agates and Yooperlites just a short walk from our front door. The Upper Peninsula is very special to us and we felt so lucky to find this beautiful property to spend a week at. We would definitely love to stay again next time we make the trip up.

A hidden gem

We had an incredible stay at this cabin on Lake Superior! The cabin had everything we needed and so much more. It was well-stocked with all the essentials and many thoughtful extras and it was so clean! The location was perfect—a short walk to the private beach, where we enjoyed breathtaking sunrises each morning. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle, it provided a peaceful retreat while still being within a driveable distance to many attractions. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a serene getaway with the comforts of home!

Glamping, but better!!!

Draft: My boyfriend and I booked a romantic weekend here with our dog, and wow! The Captain's Lake Beach house was like clamping, but better. With the windows slightly cracked we could hear the waves of Superior, but had our own private bathroom and temperature control. Just one small staircase from the water, our fur baby loved swimming in the water, and walking down to the trail heads. Everything was clean and cozy, we'll definitely be back!

Perfect little getaway

We loved our time at captains! The beach house was exactly as listed! It was perfect for our family. We love camping but didn’t have as much time for set/up year down and wanted to make the most of our time so we chose a small cottage to rent. The views here are incredible. We drove to picture rocks kayaking for their morning tour one day and went to Tahquamenon falls and MI dogs. I would recommend any of the captains properties. They are well kept and stocked with everything we needed. Looking forward to coming back. Hosts are awesome as well!

Amazing!!

What a special place right on the shore of Lake Superior! This is our 3rd time at Captain’s properties, 1st time in the Beach House. This one is not as fancy as the others but we didn’t need the bigger cabins as it was just the 2 of us. Elyse and Chris are very responsive to any needs. We brought our kayaks but the weather was a bit chilly (which meant no black flies). Hiked the Nature conservatory and pizza at Pine Stump. Found my 1st Yooper lite.

Perfect for a Getaway

We had the most amazing time at Captain's Beach House. The house was super clean and you could see Lake Superior from each room. The space was perfect for a couple (and our dog). It was decorated very cute and had all the major things we needed (grill, fridge/freezer, shower, etc.) plus some added comforts. The best part, though, was of course the beach. Being just steps away from Lake Superior can't be beat and it was almost like having a private beach. The rock hunting was incredible (note: water shoes might be nice for swimming - as the rock hunting continues a little ways into the lake). We also completed a hike without having to drive anywhere. The owner, Elyse, was very responsive and incredibly kind. All the people we met were also amazing. Could not have been a better trip and we look forward to hopefully returning soon.

Great location, beautiful sunrises and sunsets

My wife and I booked this property for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary. We love being outdoors and this was perfect for our trip! It was a great base-camp for our rockhunting adventure. We found a bucket full of rocks just strolling the beach and watching the freighters go by in the distance. We enjoyed having the grill outside for cooking and the picnic table overlooking Lake Superior was great for catching a sunset while we ate. Communication was great with the owner. She answered all our questions before and during our stay. Pro Tip: On the main road heading back towards Lake Muskellonge look for a vintage airstream type camper. It's called the The UglyFish Bakery Co. We stopped there in the morning for fresh coffee and pastries before heading out on our adventures. We recommend!

Lovely Location on Lake Superior!

The location is amazing. The stairs to the beach are a bit tricky as they have about 15 wooden steps that terminate in a six step aluminum ladder-type structure that then drops a bit to some large stones. We managed fine but it could be difficult for some. The private beach is absolutely perfect! The home itself was fine. The layout is a bit awkward if you're not traveling with close relatives as the bathroom is between the bedroom and the kitchen/sitting area. Home had basic necessities and was pretty clean. Toilet began leaking at the back and at the flange on day one. I contacted the owner and she said that the only plumber in their part of the UP was away and could not get there. She mentioned that she would try to get her son to come check it out or possibly her daughter would come try to tighten it up. I was able to tighten one of the flange bolts by hand but didn't have any tools. It was still leaking pretty badly. Owner suggested putting towels around the base and we used paper towels instead. They quickly became saturated so we asked if her daughter, who was coming to clean next door, could bring another roll. The daughter did drop off a roll of towels on the outside table but no one came in to fix the toilet for the entire stay. We managed, but I would have expected some type of compensation or refund for having to deal with waste water coming from the toilet and saturating an entire roll of paper towels for the duration of our stay.

Thank you for selecting our property. We have 3 side by side homes on a private road with only 5 other houses. 6 total acres of beach and woods. We love hiking, swimming, boating, diving and shooting with our 6 children and granddaughter, if you do too this is the place for you! The 3 properties in a row are fantastic for hosting friends and family. Everyone can spread out and do their own thing.
