About this property
Open! WNC Mountain House w/ New Furniture, Hot Tub, Lovely Setting on Sheep Farm
Hurricane Helene Update as of Late October--
Many parts of our mountain region were severely affected by the wind and floods caused by the Hurricane. This house is situated between Hot Springs, Waynesville, and Asheville. We are so grateful that our house has not been harmed, and you can reach it in any direction. While Hot Springs is cleaning and rebuilding, you can travel through to get to the cabin. Currently the Smoky Mountain Diner, Sarajos Gas Station, the Dollar General, and two convenience markets are open and would love your business.
Also close to the cabin for food options are Dave's 209 and Trust General Store. Further down the road is the mountain town of Waynesville to explore, as well as Sylva, and Cherokee.
We would love you to be our guest. This is such a beautiful and welcoming property to retreat to, and enjoy the mountains in Late Fall and Early Winter. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
This special cabin was built in the glorious mountains of Western North Carolina by Amish craftsmen in 2015. It sits on a mountain knoll surrounded by pasture & woods, where our family keeps sheep on a 41 acre preserve. Here is a perfect place to escape into mountain life, a place where time slows into a natural rhythm, & the night stars shine brightly.
The house itself reminds me of a "home on the range." It is a long, lodge pole style cabin, with front and back porches running the length of the house.
The front porch is screened with rocking chairs. The large back porch has a hot tub and comfortable outdoor furniture.
Enter the house through either porch into the open kitchen and living room. The cabin was built in 2015, and is in fantastic condition. Constructed of yellow pine with attention to detail.
The cabin is both cozy and roomy, with an open floor plan and vaulted ceilings. There are numerous windows to let in light. Although this is a modern cabin, it has a warm and inviting feel.
All furnishings in the house are brand new as of 2024. The living room has leather couches and a Smart TV, a place where your group can be together and relax.
The kitchen is open, well equipped, with a center island and dining table.
Bedroom 1 is considered to be the "master" bedroom as it has a king size bed, large closet, TV, and its own bathroom. It is located at the end of the hall on the main floor.
Bedroom 2 & 3 both have queen sized beds, a dresser, and small closet.
The shared bathroom is on the main floor and has a tub/shower combo.
Up the stairs is a half loft. The "office" area is open to the lower kitchen and living room, has a desk and chair, and is a very nice place to work.
Open the door to a large bedroom that has two XL twin beds, a seating area, and TV.
We call the house Shepard's Knoll, as it sits perched on a mountain knoll that is amidst both mountain pasture land, and woods.
The house has a large mowed area that surrounds the house with plenty of room to romp, play games, stargaze, and watch fireflies.
Walk down the driveway and stroll a little ways (1/8 mile) and you will arrive at a small bridge over Meadow Fork Creek. You can access the creek here where you can wade in, or throw a line in hopes of catching a trout.
Western North Carolina is beautiful all 4 seasons of the year. The area has plenty of options for adventure, hiking, rafting, fishing, hot tubbing. 25 mins to Hot Springs, 45 mins to Asheville/Waynesville.
