About this property

The Nest is Best in Bear Paw, Murphy, NC.

We are excited to share our favorite place in the world! Situated outside of Murphy, North Carolina, "The Nest" is located in a special community called “Bear Paw.” Our family has been vacationing here since 2000.

Features: 3 bedrooms; 2 baths; additional beds in sunroom and den
The master bedroom is on the main level and has a king bed; a second bedroom is on the main level and has two twin beds. The walkout basement has the third bedroom with a queen bed. The downstairs/walkout basement den has a twin daybed with twin trundle as well as a sofa bed. The sunroom is located off the master bedroom and has a full size futon bed. The sun-room has double doors that can be closed for privacy. Both floors have their own bathroom. The outside space includes a fire pit, screened in porch, and a front deck. Parking is located behind the cabin with only one step to the main level.

Amenities: Bear Paw is a gated community with a community pool, clubhouse, covered pickleball courts, tennis courts, playground, volleyball net, basketball goal, a “catch and release” pond, and a full-service marina that includes boat, kayak, and paddle board rentals.

“Nearby” towns and activities to explore: Murphy, NC & Blairsville, GA (30 minutes); Blue Ridge, GA (40 minutes); Chattanooga, TN & Helen, GA 1.5 hours; the Ocoee River, Hiwassee River, and Nantahala River Rafting/tubing outfitters. are located 40-60 minutes away. Hiking, waterfalls, and scenic drives, like the Cherohala Skyway, are close by. Harrah's Cherokee River Valley is located in Murphy.

If you prefer to relax and unwind, then The Nest can check those boxes too. Sometimes our favorite thing to do is sit and listen to the birds, thus "The Nest." We also love spending time on Hiwassee Lake or floating in the community pool.

Thanksgiving Treat

Perfectly suited to our family , with everything you could possibly need for cooking and serving a gathering…… while there was room for more, we were 4-5 , but had family over for meals and games. Beautiful views, wonderful wood burning stove and plenty of space to spread out. Recommend!!!!!

Bear Paw in July

"The Nest" offered homey, comfortable and very spacious accommodations. It was just me, my husband and our two grandsons who loved having their own floor downstairs with a large screen TV, and games with stuffed bears to hug! The home was clean and very well appointed with a lovely porch area nestled among the trees in the beautiful Bear Paw Resort. We do hope to return next year!

My husband and I absolutely LOVE Bear Paw and our cabin in the woods. Although I am a native Floridian and he was raised in Ohio, we met (and eventually honeymooned) in this area many moons ago so the Murphy/Blairsville/Blue Ridge area is very special to us. Whenever we drive to The Nest, we feel rejuvenated. We love boating on lakes in The Carolinas, but most of the lakes in our area are overcrowded. Hiwassee Lake has very little traffic and is crystal clear so we think it is supreme! We hope you enjoy our favorite place in the world and can reconnect with family and friends at The Nest.

Why they chose this property

Again, Bear Paw is a magical place. It isn't over commercialized like some locations. On the other hand, it's nice for this city girl to have friendly neighbors. The amenities, such as the pool and lake are wonderful. We also enjoy relaxing around the firepit or sitting on the deck or covered porch.

What makes this property unique

We stayed in a lot of rentals in Bear Paw over the years before we purchased our own home. We really liked the easy access to the front door from the driveway. Some homes in Bear Paw/the mountains have very steep driveways or many stairs to the main door, which can be tricky when carrying groceries or little ones. Also, some rentals have very small kitchens and limited living room space. When vacationing with our friends and family we enjoy having multiple living areas--indoors and outdoors--and a large kitchen that more than one person can occupy.
