A Magical Retreat by River Periyar, Kerala, India
It is one of our guests who described the place as "absolutely magical."
The retreat is located on the banks of river Periyar, the largest river in Kerala, South India.
The location is Chowara village, half an hour from Cochin International Airport. Chowara was the summer resort of erstwhile rulers of Kochi in pre-independent India. Chowara is a bustling village now, with a supermarket, nearby airport and plenty of transport options to different destinations.
The facility itself consists of a whole house, with two bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, spacious and neat kitchen and a private veranda opening from the main bedroom with a view of the river. It is nestled in a garden of mainly nutmeg, with several other varieties of trees and plants, providing a cool environment.
About 15 minutes drive away is Aluva town which:
- Has restaurants (including McDonalds, serving different types of dishes and shops selling all kinds of stuff.
- Is the starting terminal of Kochi Metro
