About this property
Homespun Glamping Haus
Put your feet up in this cute, eclectic self check-in cabin with a panoramic mountain vista and just steps away from the Yukon River. The cabin was constructed with two shipping container like prototypes (thank you, TNC ) and materials salvaged from the recent construction of Land Haus. The result is well... homespun!
Authentically Yukon - the mountain view, privacy and ambience. The wood cookstove, repurposed decor, outdoor wood burning stove, water delivery, outhouse, and a picnic basket for two.
But conveniently civilized - the electric heat, fridge, cooktop, towels, linens, free high speed wifi, work space, private covered deck, rustic but clean and the double bed nook to sink into for your blissful sleeps.
River road rustic, the cabin is suitable for couples, a solo adventurer or camper/RVers who would like to stretch their legs. It has three rooms with a large entrance/living room, a separate kitchen and a cozy bedroom and extended living space with its large Northeast deck with a retro wood burning stove, perfect for morning coffee or catching a view of the Northern lights.
It's a perfect place for travellers who want experience something different in a picturesque, quiet setting surrounded by nature.
the location
We are 25 minutes from Whitehorse city centre and Erik Nielsen Airport, and 15 minutes from Eclipse Nordic Hotsprings, Bean North Coffee Roaster and Café in the Woods, the Yukon Wildlife Preserve and nearby Forest Preserve which has great marked hikes. Takhini gas station, 12 km away, carries snacks, essentials, locally baked goods, and off sales alcohol. Tum Tum's Meats at the same location has a large variety of organically produced local meats.
If you want to head to Whitehorse for some Yukon arts, culture, dining, shopping and recreational facilities, it is a 25 minute drive. 29 km/18 miles, far enough away from the city lights to see the northern lights.
Land Haus Retreat is situated on a large property by boreal forest with trails for hiking, biking or skiing, pasture with native flora and of course, the river. You can explore the native flora, watch for eagles, the local beavers, trumpeter swans, and other wildlife. The walks, the campfires, jumping in the river, the mountain vistas, variety of plants and mushrooms, berry picking, fishing, picnicking, the golden hours, are all unforgettable.
amenities and services.
Your host can assist you with anything about your stay or help you with local planning trips. Besides two elderly dogs, Polar and Maggi, and Nova the cat, Grace and her horse friends may be on the property.

Angela grew up on Vancouver Island and headed to the Yukon 'for a couple of years' after finishing University. That was in 1992! The allure of the North has never left her and she's happy to share her home and space with fellow humans who appreciate the beauty of the land and nature.
