About this property

Tiny cabin in towering pines, with lake view. Pets accepted!

Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space. Enjoy this thoughtfully furnished custom-built tiny cabin for your summer getaway. Our cabin is very clean with a beautiful view of West Crooked Lake with just a few steps to the lake.

This beautiful location surpasses expectations with 1000 feet of lake shore, crystal clear water, and various water toys free for guests.

We provide an outdoor table/chairs, grill, dishes, glasses, silverware, utensils and pots/pans. There is also a microwave, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and toaster.
This cabin can accommodate up to 4 people.

There is a queen size bed in the bedroom, a full and two twin beds in the loft. The couch makes into a comfortable full size bed. Beds are provided with linens, blankets, bedspread and pillows. We also provide kitchen linens and bath towels.

Our kitchens are full stocked with all the cooking and baking pans and utensils you will need. We provide paper towels, plastic containers, saran, and foil. We also provide salt and pepper. This rental does include access to all amenities offered to West Crooked Lake Resort guests, which is adjacent to Timberlost and also owned by myself. We have two paddle boards, two kayaks, two paddle boats and a canoe available for guests to use for free. We also have a great beach area. I have a manager on site that is available if you need anything.

Timberlost at West Crooked, in the Paul Bunyan State Forest, is surrounded by towering pines in the heart of the beautiful Nevis lakes area of northern Minnesota approximately 7 miles from Nevis, 15 miles from Park Rapids and 16 miles to Walker. This park model is located in a 14 site seasonal campground with friendly neighbors and a beautiful view of West Crooked Lake. You can enjoy sun bathing on the sandy beach, swimming in the clear water, or reading a book in the shade. Your children can enjoy the playground For the fisherman, West Crooked Lake hosts a large variety of fish including Walleye, Northern, Bass, Perch, Crappie and Sunfish.

Many area attractions are just minutes from the resort. Biking/walking trails, golf courses, casinos, a fun park, a local winery (tours available), horseback riding, shopping and restaurants, and the Headwaters of the Mississippi in Itasca State Park are just a few of the attractions you will find. ATV riders enjoy hundreds of miles of trails in the Park Rapids Lakes Area, bringing them closer to nature's beauty in remote areas others often don't see. Local clubs maintain two primary trails in our area, which are connected with more miles of trails along county highways and byways. Round River Drive ATV Trail is located in the Paul Bunyan State Forest and can be reached from state Hwy 64, 4.5 miles north of Akeley. Martineau Trail, an OHM trail with two loops totaling 105 miles. The trail is located in the southern unit of the Paul Bunyan State Forest and can be reached from state Hwy 64, 5.5 miles north of Akeley. Search for the Paul Bunyan State Forest for more information on trails near our resort, many of which you can drive to on your ATV, rather than taking your ATV on a trailer.

I am from Carrington, ND but have lived in MN, MS, CA and now reside in CO most of the year. I spend my summers at the resort in MN. I enjoy meeting new people and learning more about the families. I am happy to provide a fun place for the entire family to vacation.

Why they chose this property

Our family has been coming from North Dakota to the Park Rapids area for their family vacations for decades and we came to love the trees, lakes and wildlife. In 1979, my parents decided to purchase Timberlost and to make Minnesota their permanent home. Several of their nine children, including myself, Susan, were involved over the years in helping them operate the resort. We love this area in the MN north country.

What makes this property unique

West Crooked Lake Resort was originally known as Timberlost Resort and Campground. The resort and campground was owned by my parents, Jerrold and Doris Skadberg family for over 30 years. In 2003, I purchased a portion of Timberlost Resort and established West Crooked Lake Resort and constructed a new cabin and remodeled existing cabins with a northern decor to welcome all. I became familiar with the resort business through the years of helping my family with Timberlost Resort and decided to continue the resort tradition that my parents had started. Prior to purchasing the resort, I was an owner of a software development company.
