About this property

Beautifully restored 1840's Georgian designed manor. The finest in Vicksburg.

Many people come to Vicksburg to appreciate its beauty and history. However, few get the chance to stay in an entire home that was part of that history. On the national historic registry, Belle Terre was originally a raised Louisiana cottage built in the 1840’s that fortunately made it through the siege of Vicksburg during the American Civil War. Following the war, it was expanded and built into the impressive Georgian style manor that it is today. After being a private residence for nearly 180 years, this classic home has been updated inside to reflect contemporary Southern design and beauty. On the first floor one can enjoy being entertained in the game room/library, conversing and relaxing in the comfortable sitting room, and an elegant meal in the formal dining room. The first floor kitchen is equipped with top of the line Kitchen Aid double ovens, five burner stove top, expanded refrigerator, and ice maker. The second floor has three large bedrooms with 14 foot ceilings containing king size beds with memory foam mattresses. One of the beds has the original posts of the previous owners ancestors that was damaged during the civil war, and if you look close you can see the hacks from the saber marks. There is also a large living room on the second floor with a large flat screen smart TV and a door to the gallery porch. The third floor has 2 comfortable bedrooms that each have a queen size bed and a bunkbed, and views out the window of the Mississippi River. Now available for short term rent and sitting on nearly 2 acres of private land with beautifully maintained grounds. Just outside the kitchen There is a brick patio with comfortable out door furniture including an outdoor dining table. It is the perfect setting for our guests to enjoy gathering together for celebrations, parties, or to just relax and spend time together. The three story villa can sleep up to 14 individuals, and it’s ideal central location is a brief drive to the battlefield park, downtown, and the casinos.
*Note: The home is in a zoned residential area and subject to city ordinance, including not having large “events’ or gatherings.

Wonderful Historic Home

This historic home was a wonderful place to stay with its close proximity to our business event downtown. The home is updated to meet all modern needs. The grounds were meticulously maintained. Each living area and bedroom was comfortably furnished and our group felt right at home. The owners were prompt to respond to any need. These ladies could absolutely return!

Wonderful Large Property Rental

Beautiful, historic home, with modern upgrades, and also historic origins. Very large, and can accommodate, a large family gathering. Extremely comfortable beds, very close to historic downtown Vicksburg. The host was extremely friendly and encouraging. This is the place to stay, if you are spending any time in Vicksburg!
