Welcome to your family’s new favorite vacation home, where your backyard is Dutchess County's largest private motorboat lake and your commute is less than 90 minutes from Manhattan. Tucked away amidst the lush foliage, this charming lakehouse is ready for you to enjoy its rustic allure and breathtaking views.
Once you arrive, you’ll find a well-appointed interior adorned with rustic touches and modern comforts. The primary bedroom boasts a king bed, a television, en-suite bathroom, and stunning wall-to-wall views of the lake outside. Our quiet second bedroom has a view of our front garden and is equipped with a queen bed and a television. The fully carpeted attic bedroom with a queen bed can be used as a child’s playroom, a quiet oasis workspace, or the perfect reading nook as you enjoy your favorite page-turner on the cushioned windowsill beside the custom octagonal window that overlooks the lake.
The downstairs living area and kitchen are great for communing with family and friends. From the kitchen filled with handcrafted wooden accents, guests can cook while enjoying each other’s company in the dining area and the extra-large couch. Cozy evenings are made perfect with your family’s favorite movie on the television and a warm fire in the hearth below.
Summer daytimes are for barbecuing on the back porch and descending the majestic wooden staircase to your private dock. There, enjoy all the lake has to offer! Explore its vastness on one of our state-of-the-art fiberglass standup paddle boards, or enjoy your favorite beverage while standing waist-deep on our underwater platform. As the sun sets, make use of the fire-pit for an evening of laughter and s’mores.
In the fall, enjoy the foliage while swimming in the lake, which can stay warm through October. Take a visit to Barton Orchards just 12 minutes away, where the kids can visit the petting zoo, the adults can stop by the bar for some craft beers and wine, and the whole family can enjoy live music and 175 acres of apple-picking.
Winter visits are a wonderful time to check out Thunder Ridge Ski Area, just a 10 minute drive away from the house. This ski mountain is fun for the whole family, with 22 trails, 3 chairlifts, 4 magic carpets, and slopes ranging from slow and gentle to advanced and adventurous. Pawling’s Lakeside Park, Wonder Lake, and the Appalachian Trail are each 5-10 minutes away and are beautiful options for quiet winter hikes and strolls. When you come home after a day of cold-weather adventuring, kick back on the couch with a warm fire, good music on the speakers, and your favorite hot beverage.
In any weather, visit the local area for great coffee, delicious food, and handmade treats. The Farmer’s Market on Saturday hosts crafts and produce vendors in Pawling, just 10 minutes away. There, you can enjoy the local shops and stay for an incredible meal at the award-winning McKinney and Doyle, one of the best restaurants in the Hudson Valley. If you enjoy live music, see a weekend solo performance in the evening at Dancing Bear Cafe, or check out Daryl’s House any time for great food and shows hosted by Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates. And if you feel like exploring a little further, we love to recommend a visit to Beacon, which is a quick 30 minute drive away.
Whether your family is lounging on the dock with a good book, exploring the shoreline by paddle board, or adventuring at local spots, your options for a great family vacation are endless. Come experience the magic of lakeside living at its finest!
