This lovely house was one of the first built in the area several decades ago and fortunately has not changed (other than a few modern updates). It is incredibly private and feels authentically Mexican in its colorful decor and folk art. Juan was attentive and took care of any questions or needs. Baly provided beautifully prepared fresh meals everyday. We used the vehicle twice for excursions but always felt ready to leave the crowds and return to this peaceful paradise. Margaritas and sunsets - the best!
Kathy's house may be my absolute favorite spot ever and we travel a lot . As soon as we arrived Juan greeted us and gave us the tour. Fresh guacamole and the best margaritas came next. Chicken & steak tacos were planned out for the first night as well. The house is even more beautiful than the photos. There are 2 bedrooms that have a separate entrance from the main house and the other 2 bedrooms connect the kitchen and living room area.
The beach was beautiful and swimmable. Lots of beautiful shells were found each day and little hermit crabs everywhere. The pool was a great addition as well.
We chose to eat all breakfasts and dinners but 1 during our stay and that was definitely the best decision. Everything was amazing. We had shrimp tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, Birria tacos, hamburgers/chicken sandwiches & the best pizza ever. Breakfast was divine everyday as well. Juan sat down with us after arrival and gave us many options to choose from. Baly and Colby were in the kitchen and just the sweetest. Luisa kept our rooms tidy and I must say that as a mom who does this daily, it was nice to be spoiled.
There is a Suburban to drive and the area is very safe. We are from a small town and had no trouble navigating and driving the area. We went all the way to San Pancho one day per Juans advice. This was definitely a relaxing and memorable trip. Kathy is the sweetest and Juan, Baly, Colby & Luisa are the absolute best. We can not wait to plan our next trip here.
A group of 8 friends all over 55 except one young girl (32)We booked our first stay the year before COVID had other plans for the world. We rebooked and just got home at 4am but man what a place. If you read all the interviews everyone is correct(you only need a bathing suit)Juan,Bailey & Kobe are excellent. If your looking for paradise this is probably as close as you will get. They cook breakfast & Dinner and clean up.Everyday your room gets made up and cleaned but you rarely see the cleaning lady. The whole place is amazing.Juan will set up anything you want or need(Golfing for the guys,in house full 90 minutes deep tissue massages, fishing for Mahi-Mahi and then have them prepared for you dinner that night. It was absolutely amazing 💯If you can’t decide where to vacation just BOOK IT you won’t be disappointed
As our time at Casa de Las Abuelas is coming to an end, I want to let you know about our experience.
We loved this Casa. The garden, the views, the sound of the ocean waves, everything was beautiful!
Juan, Baly, Kobe, and Luisa are great people. They made us feel very welcomed. Their attention to detail was great. The food was superb. It was a pleasure meeting them.
We are already looking forward to our next visit to Casa de Las Abuelas. Thank you so much for sharing your home. It is a paradise.
Thank you,
We were blessed to get 3 generation of our family together for a fun week. The staff is great, and the location is wonderful Everything was as described, and beach access is perfect. Thank you.
We just returned home from Casa De Las Abuleas and had the one of the best vacations! We were 3 families with kiddos ages 3-7. The pool was perfect for the kids. The ocean was great for the adults- you can surf just a short walk down the beach. The community is very safe since it has full time security guards. The staff at the casa are wonderful and make your stay very relaxed. The food is amazing- it was a treat to have food prepped and dishes done for you! You will be expected to tip the staff so make sure you inquire about this extra cost. But I will say it was well worth it to us.
We were a group of 10 women looking for a place to reunite where we wouldn’t have to cook or clean. Kathy’s home offered that and so much more. You enter into beautiful gardens with a view that knocks your socks off. There are several areas outside to gather and that is where all of your time is spent. Bedrooms are good sized (the master being extremely generous) and all have direct access to the outside.
Now for the really good stuff! Bali, the chef, is unbelievable. The food is ridiculously good and you get to pick your own menu. With a group as large as ours, we chose to have our dinners at home and after the first night, no one wanted to go out. Juan, the manager/gardener, was available for any questions, concerns or needs.
Another huge plus was having the suburban for when a group wanted to go out. The home is a little bit difficult to find the first time, but you can go over to the W and get an Uber or taxi for anywhere you want to go. Uber is really reasonable!
The beach was was a little rough from all of the driftwood that came in and because the waves can be pretty intense, is not suitable for small children. The pool was kept warm which would work for younger kids with floaties.
Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and all of the other 9 women agree!
I can't say enough about this rental! It was THE BEST vacation ever! The beach is beautiful, the house is comfortable and very accommodating, the location is safe and close to Punta Mita and Sayulita. All that being said...the FOOD! Balay and Colby are wonderful cooks. Every meal we ate was absolutely delicious! My favorite was the shrimp, huevos rancheros and the tres leche dessert! Actually all the food was my favorite! And then there's Juan. Juan is hospitable, informative, accommodating and just an all around awesome guy.
We had four adults, 2 teens and 1 child and the rooms were perfect. We spent our days in the wonderful pool and on the beach. One of our last days, the most amazing thing happened, we were out taking pictures of the beautiful sunset when we were called over by a few locals to help release baby turtles to the ocean!! Once in a lifetime memory!
Overall, we had the best time and appreciate the staff at Casa De las Abuleas, for making our vacation truly relaxing, comfortable and amazing!
To simply put how I feel about this house, would be to tell you that it is incredible in every way. The experience that we shared for seven days, was an unforgettable trip.
Every meal prepared by Juan and Baly was exceptional. We had breakfast and dinner at the house every day except Sunday. they are the kindest people!
My kids loved the pool and finding hermit crabs on the beach. I loved being on the hammocks, especially at sunset, it was amazing!
We hope to return again to this house!
Kathy was such a great communicator and answered every question before we came.
We are home from seven days at Casa De Las Abuelas and feeling so recharged and relaxed.
Highly reccommend this house!
This is our third time staying at Casa del las Abuelas. Still amazing! Juan, Bali, Kobi, and Luisa make this a very special place. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is perfect! I couldn’t be happier with my stay. As always, thank you, Kathy, for opening your home up to us. Can’t wait to book our next trip.
We have just returned from the best family vacation ever! Casa de las Abuelas, along with Juan, Baly, Kobe and Luisa, has spoiled us from ever staying at another resort or hotel. The house is well laid out with four, large en-suite bedrooms spaced well apart for privacy and each with its own balcony or patio. The beds and bedding were divine and the entire house was kept spotless daily. The pool, beach, palapa, and landscaping make you feel like you’re in paradise with plenty of outdoor seating areas and a virtually private beach. The neighborhood is very exclusive and secure with controlled access and attentive beach patrol. While there is new construction going on in the area, we were never bothered by any noise or traffic. The house is perfectly placed between PVR and Sayulita and the Suburban makes it easy to get around (don’t miss the Alley Cat!). But the real magic of Casa de las Abuelas is feeling like you are a welcome guest in Kathy’s home! Juan goes out of his way to ensure your every need is met, Baly’s meals will spoil you from ever wanting to go to a restaurant again, and Kathy quickly respond to any questions you may have. My only regret is staying for one week instead of two!
What an amazing experience! Our family of six - 2 adults and 4 teenagers - loved all aspects of our stay, from the comfortable home, great outdoor patios, beautiful garden, the pool and the beach. And - not to mention the true luxury of Juan, Baly, Colby and Luisa taking care of every single thing we needed. We have never been so spoiled. What a truly relaxing and beautiful vacation.
I hesitate to leave a review as it could lead to less availability but it was a wonderful vacation. Juan as waiting for us right outside the airport. Took us to the fabulous home with 4 BR (each with it's own bath).
We were greeted with amazing margaritas, chips, salsa, and guac. First meal of beef and fish tacos was already planned for our first night. The next day we planned our meals - steak/shrimp, chili rellanos, enchiladas, pizza, steak/lobster! Each meal came with delicious sides. Baly is a wonderful cook.
Breakfast each morning around 9am and always include french toast or pancakes and an egg dish.
The house and grounds were kept in pristine condition and cold drinks were always stocked (beer, coke, water, sparkling water - plus any special requests you may have).
We didn't want to leave and will definitely be back. Thank you Kathy, Juan, Kobe, and Baly for your hard work and hospitality. You all worked very hard to make sure our vacation was top notch.
We took mom to Casa de Abuelas for her 80th bd gift (8 family from 30 - 80). The property is as pictured, lovely and relaxing. The pool is perfect. It, the patio, and the hammocks got a lot of use! Easy to get American sports on the TV. Beach was nice, surf was strong from overnight storms. Weather was just about perfect.
Had a tiny bit of apprehension being the first time doing a VRBO with a cook/staff, for naught. Juan, Baly, and Kobe were great! Arrival night the meal was preplanned, pre-ordered groceries & beverages were all stocked. Monday morning we planned out the rest of the weeks meals with Juan. The food was fresh and fabulous! Didn't know how much i needed banana pancakes in my life, so fluffy and yummy. (For those that care to shop, there's a huge grocery/liquor/home goods store near the airport - La Comer - bakery section is huge - highly recommend the churros.)
The day trip with AlleyCat came recommended by Kathy, and for good reason. Had a great time!!
Wonderful time had by all.
We just came back from our wonderful stay at Casa de las Abuelas and words are not enough. From the moment Juan picked us up at the airport until he dropped us off a week later we were pampered. If we thought it Juan and Baly were right there to make it happen. And Baly's cooking will make you never want to leave. 5 Stars are not enough to say what a wonderful time we had.
Property is beautiful, the beach is so private, we had a fabulous vacation! Juan and the team were great and could not have been nicer or more helpful with everything, we will be back!
Checking in was easy and airport pickup by driver (Juan) a breeze! Nice not to deal with the taxi chaos.
Baly and Kobe had snacks and refreshing margaritas ready on arrival at property 40 mins later.
Breakfast and dinner each day delicious and access to vehicle for day ventures perfect. Explored Sayulita and Punta Mita in a clean, virtually new Suburban.
We took owner up on Alley Cat boat trip recommendation, which were available privately for the day. So fun we did two days on the water.
AC kept rooms cool and house cleaned each day by housekeeper.
Beachside hammocks the place to be! Hope to be back soon!

I am a 75 year old grandmother, who is soon to be a great grandmother. I have been coming to Mexico for 50 years. I love Mexico. I grew up in Lubbock, TX and have been in Odessa, Texas for all of my married life. I am a big Texas Tech fan.
Why they chose this property
I was one of the original owners in Punta del Burro. When you see the area, you will know why I fell in love with it. I bought it when there was hardly anything there. Now we have cobbled stone roads, underground utilities and 24 hour security. We have all the bells and whistles.
