About this property
Stunning Luxury Home on the Sandy Beach Shores of Lake Michigan!!
Experience sunrises out your kitchen door and infinite exquisite views of Lake Michigan from this stunning 4-bdrm, 5.5 bath luxury estate. This 5,000+ sq. ft. home sits on the sandy shores allowing you to build sand castles, take romantic walks on the beach, or have the time of your life swimming and frolicking in the water, only steps from the backdoor. Create endless family memories in the best home on Door County's lake side between Cave Point and the Canal. The home is simply jaw dropping!
Main Level
When you first walk into the home, you'll be welcomed with a 30 ft vaulted ceiling, showcasing the Lake's view. The main level has a large living room with plush white carpeting and furniture, along with two leather swivel chairs for great mornings enjoying your coffee while gazing at the lake.
The kitchen is large and modern, equipped with an oversize Viking stove and refrigerator, dishwasher, Keurig coffee machine, blender and just about anything else you would need for a fantastic family dining experience. The kitchen also has a walkout to the outside deck overlooking the lake. The kitchen table pictured shows seating for six, but with additional leaves, the table can easily seat 10-12 (extra leaves and chairs on lower level).
Continuing on the main floor, there's a powder room right off the kitchen along with a laundry room equipped with a one washer (2023) and two dryers (2023). There's a second bathroom right off the laundry room (mudroom) that has a shower allowing you to clean up from outside before you enter the living area. This is extremely convenient, helping to keep the house clean from sand and outside debris.
2nd Floor
This floor has three bedrooms on it.
The first is a large 20x25 bedroom with a king size bed and three-twin size beds. There's some plusses and minuses with this room. It's the largest by far, but it's the only bedroom on this floor that does not overlook the lake. Instead it overlooks the front on the home (large pine trees), which is still beautiful, but for those of you looking for a bedroom with a lake view, this is not the one. The second negative is the bathroom is not connected. It's right next door to the room, but you do have to leave the bedroom to get to it 😕.
The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms on the this floor are pretty much replicas. They both are about the same size, they both have queen beds, a full bathroom connected to it and both have lake views.
Lower Level
The lower level has one bedroom, a full bath, a game room and a family sitting room.
Although this is the lower level, it has several windows facing east, allowing for a substantial amount of natural sunlight. The bedroom has a queen bed, with a bathroom next to it (not connected). It has plush white carpeting in it with a beautiful picture of a lighthouse.
The game room includes a pool table, table hockey game, an automated Mahjong table, a dart board, basketball game, and my favorite, a table hockey game. You'll spend hours being entertained here.
The Backyard
My guess is the backyard will be used the most while you're on your Door County excursion. There's three main areas of use.
The first is the patio deck. There's two large areas to sit, dine, meditate and enjoy the lake views. The deck is equipped with lawn chairs, a gas fire pit and a high-end BBQ for grilling.
The second area is the grass field between the deck and the beach. You'll come off the deck on to a 50' x 100' leveled grass field allowing you to build snowmen in the winter, play frisbee or catch in the summer or just lay there and listen to the crashing waves of Lake Michigan.
The third would be the beach and water. In Door County on the Lake Michigan side, there are only a few patches of lakefront homes that have the luxury of a sandy beach. Our's is one them. The sandy beach runs south from our home to "The Glidden Lodge" , seven houses down. To the north of us, the beach runs all the way to Cave Point, about a 45 minute walk. Enjoy taking beach walks, inner-tubing the waves, finding rocks and shells or just sun tanning with the sound of the waves in front of you.
In Walking Distance
1. Glidden Lodge Beach Resort (5 min walk)
2. The Hitching Post Bar & Grill (10 min walk)
3. Whitefish Bay State Dunes Park (15 min walk)
4. Cave Point County Park (45 min walk)
Glidden Lodge Beach Resort has a waterfront restaurant open year round which makes it very convenient to have a place to eat and drink within a five minute walk. After a nice day of activities at the beach, what a perfect way to end the day walking to your waterfront restaurant to have a glass of cabernet, while enjoying great food. Having an establishment like this only a few doors away, is a huge "bonus".
The Hitching Post Bar & Grill
Comfort food within a two block walk. Typically opened regularly for the summer and fall, with limited hours in the winter & spring.
Whitefish Bay State Dunes Park
Ten minutes to the north of the home down the street
Cave Point County Park
We'd recommend driving for this nature extravaganza, but if you're a walker (or kayaker), this is about 45-60 min just north down the beach. I've personally kayaked to Cave Point from the home and it's about a solid hour each way. What an experience though. To see Cave Point from the water instead of land gives you an entirely different perspective.
Mechanics
The house has a new roof, HVAC and a backup generator installed in 2023.
Unfortunately, we do not allow pets. Although we love pets, and donate to several animal organizations, this particular home would not be conducive for animals. The house is decorated with plush white carpeting and furniture. You could imagine with the sandy conditions on & near the premises, it would be a cleaning nightmare guest to guest if pets were allowed. The good side, especially if you're allergic to pets, the house is pet free. It's immaculately cleaned by a professional team after each stay, allowing you to enjoy the home as if it's a five-star hotel.
Top Door County recommendations:
1. Waterfront Restaurant in Sister Bay
2. Glidden Lodge Waterfront Restaurant
3. Bluefront Cafe in downtown Sturgeon Bay
4. YMCA in Sturgeon Bay for you gym freaks (I'm one of them)
5. Sweetie Pies in Fish Creek (Cherry is my favorite)
6. Hands on Art Studio in Fish Creek (converted barn doing crafts with the kids will never be forgotten)
7. The Lavender Fields on Washington Island during the blooming season (July??)
8. Chop restaurant in Sister Bay
9. Barringer's Restaurant in Fish Creek
10. Kick Coffee, downtown Sturgeon Bay (try the baked oatmeal)
11. Kayaking in Whitefish Bay (Hopefully you have a Hobie Kayak. If you know, you know).
In ending, never worry about when to book your stay. Every season brings different experiences to your life. One of my favorite times in Door County is when it snows 20 inches. I shoot to the YMCA to get my workout in, hit Kick Coffee for my baked oatmeal and enjoy the day building snowmen with the kids.
Regardless of the season, you'll walk away understanding that every hour the canvas from your living room window will change. The thunderstorm, the 15 degrees below zero, the bluest sunny day, and the calm to the windy, will change the artwork of your sky and lake canvas. It's indescribable.
Enjoy.
