Located at the quiet end of Flying Point, this waterfront cottage has beautiful eastern views of Casco Bay and its islands. The oldest part of the house, built as a family summer camp in 1940, still has the charm of a historic Maine home. The house has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and sleeps 6. Conveniently located within 2 miles of the LL Bean Paddling Center and Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park. The LL. Bean flagship store and Main Street shopping are only a 10-15 minute scenic drive away. Portland, Brunswick and Bath are 25-35 minutes away.
The house overlooks Pettingill Island and Sow and the Pigs, which are a home to multiple families of ospreys, bald eagles and waterfowl. Head out on a kayak adventure and explore the nearby islands, many of which are uninhabited. Kayaks can be rented in Freeport. The LL Bean Paddling Center offers kayak tours of the bay and camps for kids (arrange in advance). The nearby Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park has a gorgeous rocky coastline with miles of trails. And then there are hundreds of other nearby activities: amazing dining, quaint towns, antique shops, breweries, bakeries, farmers markets, historic lighthouses and forts, shaker settlements, ferries to islands, beaches, foraging classes, tours, etc.
The property is our second home, which we love and use for part of the year. It is constantly maintained and has a well stocked kitchen, supply closet as well as other necessities. The Wifi is excellent: we have no issues with streaming services or data downloads. ATT cell service is weak - making calls over Wifi resolves that issue.
