About this property

Secluded family-friendly lake house in the woods

Bring family and friends together in this hidden waterfront home with a rustic log cabin feel, nestled into seven acres of woods!

Feel the stress leave your body as you enter this serene property, surrounded by wildlife. We regularly see hawks, herons, swans, owls, sand hill cranes, foxes, beavers and deer.

Roast s'mores over a fire pit that overlooks the water!
Take a kayak out to visit the beaver habitat on the other side of the lake!
Leap high into the sky on our trampoline, then challenge your kids or friends to a fun game of foosball!

The house features a full kitchen with two refrigerators, two dishwashers, and everything you'll need to prepare a feast for your friends and family. A well-equipped office space allows guests to plug in to a monitor, keyboard and mouse. The large, third-floor loft offers a slumber party vibe for the kids, and a dog run traverses the backyard so Fido can to join in the fun!

About the house:

DOWNSTAIRS: Enter through the den where our comfy leather reclining chairs and sofas double as charging stations for your devices, then head through the fully-equipped kitchen, which has all the tools you'll need to prepare a feast including a slow-cooker, a blender and an espresso machine. The attached dining area features ample seating including a large dining table, a smaller table (perfect for jigsaw puzzles) and a pair of lounge chairs overlooking the lake.

UNPLUG and UNWIND: This house has no TV but it has decent free wifi so bring any screens you'll need with you.

THE DECKS: The back deck features an outdoor dining table, two folding chaise chairs that can be brought to the fire pit, a swinging hammock chair and a gas grill. The fire deck has a fire pit and a pair of inviting Adirondack chairs looking out over the lake. It's perfect for yoga! A hammock hangs nearby.

THE BOAT DOCK: Sit on the waterside bench, or take one of our kayaks out to the inflatable swim island. Note: Our lake fills with lily pads in the summer but the kayaks glide over them to reach the swim island. We have four kid-sized life jackets, two adult life jacket sizes (M and XL) and a toddler life jacket. Three single kayaks are available near the lake. Two large inflatable double kayaks are also available by request.

OFFICE: Need to stay connected with the office? Plug in to a monitor, keyboard, mouse and laptop on a sit/stand desk overlooking the front porch. (Another smaller desk is in Bedroom 1 upstairs if two people need a quiet place to work). This room has a futon (but this isn't an ideal sleeping area since the nearest bathroom is upstairs).

UPSTAIRS: You'll find the foosball table in the common area, a cozy reading nook with a light and a curtain that can close to create a private oasis, a LEGO nook with lots of LEGOs, a crafting nook and a washer/dryer. Note: The floor sofa from the reading nook can migrate up to the loft to sleep more kids up there!

NOTE: All of our bathrooms are on the second floor so this house is not ideal for people with limited mobility. Keep an eye on small children. The house has not been child-proofed.

BEDROOM 1 features a queen bed, a dresser, a lending library (take a book, leave a book), a walk-in closet, a working area with a desk chair, and a private bathroom with a shower. The twin bed in this room can be great for parents traveling with a child. Don't like this configuration? This twin bed has legs that fold up so it can move to another room or up into the loft.

BEDROOM 2 has two twin beds, a closet, a dresser and a view of the lake. It sits beside a newly renovated bathroom with a tub and shower.

BEDROOM 3 has big windows with glorious views of the lake, a king bed, a closet, two dressers and a newly renovated private bathroom with a big tub and a shower (note: due to the slope of the ceiling in this bathroom, there's no shower curtain so don't worry if things get a little wet). This room has a large entryway with a futon where a child can sleep. Or, the futon can be moved elsewhere. such as up to the loft This room and bathroom were built separately from the rest of the house so are not connected to the main heating and cooling system. Use the floorboard heaters in the winter. Use the a/c unit in the bedroom on hot days, or open the windows, turn on the ceiling fan and fall asleep to the sounds of nature!

THE THIRD-FLOOR LOFT is the ultimate kid hideout and retreat that runs the length of the house! (Adults can sleep here too but sloped ceilings mean they'll have to walk down the middle of the room). The spacious loft has lots of light, two twin beds, a small storage unit for clothes and a bean bag chair. Three additional beds/futons can be added -- the twin from bedroom 1, the floor sofa from the second-floor reading nook and the futon from the entry to bedroom 3 will turn the loft into a fun slumber party! Kids will find more LEGOs and K'nex to play with as well as a K'nex ferris wheel.

Great Cabin by the lake

The house was wonderful, we had a fantastic weekend, the kids absolutely loved the 3rd floor loft, the 3 of them slept upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything. The living room is an amazing place to put the feet up and relax with family and friends. The cabin has beautiful view of the lake and offers plenty of privacy. I would highly recommend this cabin.

Home away from home

We spent almost a week here while in town for the youth State Wrestling Championships. Kids, coaches and parent alike appreciated the retreat form the busy with it being a slice of home from back in the U.P. Host was super helpful and communicative, we will be staying again and our furry friend felt right at home.

Amazing place with lots to do

The place was super clean, recently refinished inside and very cozy. There was a lot to do inside the house and out back by the lake. This was perfect for our work team building trip. We’d definitely want to come back!

The Perfect Getaway

A large group of friends and I (10 total) stayed here for an extended weekend reunion and had a wonderful time. Erin was incredibly helpful and responsive with anything that popped up, and the house itself is clean and spacious. We loved the feeling of privacy and enjoyed kayaking on the lake. I would definitely recommend this space to anyone looking for a cozy cabin feel but with extra room to spare!

Perfect getaway

Awesome experience! This home was perfect for our group of 10. Plenty of room to spread out and relax. Secludeed and private, it was great to unplug for a long weekend. The trees provided perfect shade on the sprawling back deck where we spent a lot of time. Highly recommend!

Wonderful stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Little Pine Lake! It's a beautiful property with access to a wonderful lake for boating. The house was well-organized, well-stocked and very cozy. There was plenty of room for all of us-- 4 young children and 5 adults. The children loved all the little cozy spots around the house and the toys available and enjoyed spending their time kayaking and paddleboarding. The hosts were very responsive and wanted to ensure that we had a wonderful stay. We'd definitely recommend it!

What a GREAT PLACE!!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Little Pine Lake, and it was a truly delightful experience! The cabin is cute and rustic, offering a charming escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Despite its quaint appearance, the space is surprisingly large and roomy, perfect for accommodating groups. Whether you're planning a girls' weekend or a writing retreat, this place has everything you need. One of the standout features of Little Pine Lake is the abundance of areas suitable for remote work. As someone who had to balance relaxation with a bit of work, I appreciated the quiet and inspiring spots around the cabin where I could set up my laptop and be productive. The outdoor amenities were fantastic! The kayaks and paddle boards provided easy access to the serene lake, and swimming from the boards and kayaks was a blast. In the evenings, the fire area became our favorite gathering spot, creating a cozy atmosphere for conversation and relaxation. The house itself was well-equipped with everything we needed and more. It was clean, comfortable, and dog-friendly, making it feel like a true home away from home. The hosts clearly put a lot of thought into ensuring guests have a pleasant stay. I highly recommend Little Pine Lake to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat. Whether you're seeking adventure on the lake or a quiet place to work and relax, this cabin has it all. You have got to come stay here!

We're a family of five — two adults, two kids and one sweet dog — who live near downtown Detroit. This house was our oasis during the year and a half when our school was closed due to Covid. Now that we're not using the house as much, we love the idea of sharing this hidden gem with others. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

I can feel the stress leaving my body every time I arrive at Little Pine Lake!

What makes this property unique

We rarely see or hear our neighbors. This place is a truly serene secluded hideaway.
