About this property

Cabin on the Creek. Near Annapolis, Black River Floating, Sam Baker State Park

This is a great place to unwind and unplug. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the creek flowing right in front of the cabin. This is a small cabin with 4 beds (2 bunkbeds) and full bathroom. The front porch overlooks the creek. The outdoor area includes a propane grill, table, chairs and firepit. Enjoy exploring the spring-fed year round creek. There is no kitchen, but there is a mini-fridge and microwave in addition to an outdoor grill. Many of our guests use it as a comfortable home base for their float trips on the crystal clear Black River.

The location is located nearby numerous outdoor gems including the Black River, Taum Sauk Mountain , Sam Baker State Park, Elephant Rock, Johnson Shut-ins, the Ozark Trail and mountain biking areas. The property has a year-round spring-fed creek flowing through it to enjoy and explore.

This is a rural "glamping" location outside of Annapolis on approximately 8 acres. There are 3 other units/cabins on the property - 1 is also rented out and the other 2 are private. This is a relaxing location to come enjoy some quiet and explore the outdoors. The spring-fed creeks on the property are normally shallow and flow year-round with clear water. The creeks are great for children (and adults) to play in and explore. The water is cool year round. Expect to see small fish, crawdads, lizards and turtles.

You will need to drive across the creek to access the property. Most cars can make it across but I do recommend using a truck or SUV. The water may rise right after a heavy rain making it impassable.

Come here to unplug. There is no cell phone service here. We have free satellite internet you can use for Wifi calling/texting but its not reliable for high speed needs like streaming.

We provide some firewood and you can purchase more from us if needed.

Need more room? Check our adjacent rental "The Happy Camper" , which has room for 5, for availability.

Beautiful and relaxing
Cutely decorated cabin right next to a creek and surrounded by trees. It had everything we needed to be comfortable and was in close proximity to secluded gravel bars near nice, clear swimming holes. The location is perfect for seeing a variety of birds as well as deer. The beds were comfortable and I appreciated the full-sized coffee pot as opposed to a Keurig. I’m grateful for the WiFi as we had no cell service and needed help with a car issue. We ended up calling the campground host, Jeff. He answered immediately and came to us within 15 minutes. He went above and beyond to get our situation resolved. (Not that it was his responsibility to do so). We are extremely grateful and appreciative of his help.

We purchased this property a few years ago. We live in St. Louis but spend as much time as we can in the area. We love spending time at our cabin, listening to the creek and birds. There are so many fun things to do outoors. We use it as a home base to visit local spots for swimming, floating, and hiking. The geology and natural beauty keep us coming back and we are grateful for the opportunity to share it with others. We really hope people with unplug and connect with the environment and their friends/family.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this site because of the creek. The spring fed crek runs through the property and flows year round. The water is clear and full of life - fish, turtles, crawfish (and a few snakes). The sound of the creek and the serenity of the surrounding nature is always a calming way to spend the day. We also enjoy starwatching the clear skies at night.

What makes this property unique

This little glamping cabin lets people enjoy nature with a bit more creature comfort than camping. After a hot summer day its great to have a soft mattress and air conditioning. The creek is the highlight feature. The firepit is usually a favorite as well. Most people catch a float trip on the Black River during the warm months.
