Sea turtles and Hawaiian monk seals are often spotted on both beaches, which is always exciting for adults and kids alike! For the avid golfers, the award-winning Poipu Bay Golf Club is ten minutes walking from your front door. Or, if you're looking to be a bit more pampered, the luxurious Anara Spa is just a short walk away on the Grand Hyatt grounds. You'll also want to jump into the vibrant local food scene, with over 30 restaurants in the Poipu shopping village, located just 5 minutes away driving. Old Koloa Town, again just a 5 minute drive away, offers charming and picturesque boutique shopping and dining options, as well as the Kukui'ula shopping center, which hosts a farmers market every Wednesday. For the outdoorsy types, you can't visit the South Shore without seeing the absolutely incredible Waimea Canyon, nicknamed the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Trust us, it's really that cool!

If you want a more low-key vacation, the Makahuena grounds are perfectly suited for a laidback staycation. Spend the day at the pool and hot tub, host a barbecue in the picnic area, or play a couple of pick-up tennis matches at the on-site courts. Everything you need for a great vacation is already here, including the incredible ocean views!

Want to make your way around the rest of the island? Drive time to the North Shore (Princeville, Hanalei, Kilauea) is roughly 1 hour, and to the East Side (where the airport is located) is 30 minutes.

As with most homes on Kauai, this vacation rental is NOT air conditioned, however there are ceiling fans in each room and screen doors on the lanai to help with airflow.
