About this property

Resting on an 18 acre farm, this historic cottage is the retreat of your dreams

Built in 1800 and thoughtfully renovated in 2024, this two-story cottage can be the retreat of your dreams. Surrounded by thousands of acres of nature preserve, and short walks to scenic vistas, a raging waterfall, and countless hiking trails, few places are as peaceful as Hearthstone. Whether you’re looking for a private oasis or romantic getaway, are a parent sharing the beauty of nature, or an artist looking for inspiration, this historic cottage is for you.

Hearthstone Cottage is a 600 square foot two story colonial which has been designed with artistic detail and ergonomic flow in mind. The open first floor layout includes a comfortable living room wrapped around a beautiful wood stove, fully appointed kitchen with dining area and large, luxurious bathroom. A centrally located trundle makes for cozy lounging and extra beds when desired.

Up the modern staircase lies another warm and inviting floor with sloped ceilings and exposed beams. On one side is a large office and sitting area. The desk has multiple storage options and looks out over stone walls through to the woods beyond. Nestle into the oversize chair and enjoy quiet moments alone with our diverse library. The other half of the room is dedicated to a romantic sleeping area with a new queen size bed, mahogany side tables and top-end linens.

Once outside you will find 18 acres of woods, fields, gardens, pastures and art. We invite you to make our land yours and search out the many private sitting areas to contemplate, read and create. Please feel free to pick whatever is in season from our organic garden. We regularly grow berries, lettuce, tomatoes, peas, potatoes and assorted herbs. You’ll have to wait until fall to collect eggs from our new flock of chickens, but the goats are always happy for a scratch and a treat. If you are bringing your children there are numerous playscapes they are welcome to explore.

What a wonderful location!!
Immaculate and cozy one bedroom cottage next to numerous trails at Devils Hopyard and protected lands right from the door step. Very quiet and rural if that is what you're looking for. Restaurants about 5-10 miles away. Looking to stay again maybe next year for our Anniversary or another special occasion. Am going to recommend to family that I know would love this spot.
