About this property

Beautiful lakefront home on Trout Lake! Hot tub and movie room included!

Welcome to our beautiful lakefront home nestled on Trout Lake, North Bay, Ontario, 15 minutes from the downtown core. Located among twisted cedars and impressive pines, this four-season private home will allow you to experience gorgeous sunrises and sunsets over the lake and through the trees. During the summer, fall and spring months, Trout Lake offers fantastic fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, all included and ready for your enjoyment at the waters edge. Feel free to bring your jet skis or power boat along as there are multiple boat launches close by. Relax in the evening roasting marshmallows by the firepit or enjoy a hot tub overlooking the lake. Located minutes away are a Nordic ski club, Laurentian Ski Hill, a variety of trails for hiking, biking, cross country skiing, and more, as well as our local arenas. Within the home, two of the three bedrooms are available to be used as their third bedroom, located in the lower level, is used by us when we are at the property. The upper level includes one bedroom with a king bed, and a second bedroom with a queen and a twin bed. The lower level also includes a queen pull-out sofa with an upgraded mattress, for as many as seven guests. For larger groups, there is also a queen bed with an inflatable mattress that can be set up, and multiple sofas that can be used if required.
The upper-level main living area includes a living room with gas fireplace, 65” television, and full Sonos sound system. It also includes a modern custom kitchen with upgraded appliances, including a large fridge and freezer, dishwasher, induction range cooktop, and microwave/convection oven. Additional small appliances, dishes, pots and pans are available for use as well. We generally stock kitchen staples, spices, and condiments for your convenience. There is seating for up to ten people around the island. The upper-level bathroom includes a large glass shower, and the home is equipped with a tankless hot water heater. You’ll find a mudroom with plenty of closet and drawer storage at the west entry way into the home. Outside the door, there is an 8-person hot tub that looks over the forest and lake. There is also a stone staircase that leads up to the roadside garage and parking pad with plenty of room for vehicles. The lower level features a large family room that is great for comfortable relaxation after a day of enjoying the outdoors. There is a 135” 4K projection television, with high-end home theatre surround sound system. The family room has three additional small fridges, including a two-zone wine fridge, standard fridge, and a unique coffee table drawer fridge with room for plenty of beverages. There are lots of Blu-ray and DVD movies, books, and games available for your use, including Playstation 3 and 4 systems, with some games. The lower-level bathroom includes a custom shower enclosure. There is also a laundry room with a washer and dryer available for your use. The lower level is made warm and cozy thanks to heated hardwood floors throughout. There is a walkout on this level at the east end of the home, leading to the bottom of the driveway, firepit area, large wood deck, and path down to the dock. The lake is approximately an 80’ -100’ foot stroll down from the house. The dock was recently replaced and runs 48’ into the lake, with sitting areas both on shore as well as an 18’ x 20’ area at the end of the dock over the water. Enjoy the natural sandy beach, great swimming and boating all summer! We have great neighbours, but also enjoy a fair bit of privacy. There is a forested area on the west side of our home, so the next house is approximately 750’ away through the trees. We are located on a long, quiet, dead-end street, so road traffic is minimal, allowing you to enjoy the sounds of nature. We often hear loons at dusk and dawn!

About the host

Originally from the Greater Toronto Area, I fell in love with Trout Lake, North Bay through many years of visiting for work and eventually moved north. We split time between Huntsville and North Bay now, leaving our North Bay home available for periodic rental use. We love our spot on the lake and hope you will too!

Why they chose this property

It's a rare combination to live in a city but on the water in cottage country surroundings. But what really stands out is the warmth and hospitality of the neighbours and neighbourhood! The lake is active but not busy. There are lots of areas to explore by water, whether paddling in a canoe or kayak, tin, pontoon or speed boat. There are hiking trails across the road away from the lake side that take you deep into nature, with scenic lookouts and great views of the water.

What makes this property unique

For those looking for a beautiful waterfront experience while being 10-15 minutes away from city amenities, and only about 40 minutes away from Quebec, this is a great spot. The home is suitable for individuals, couples, families and moderate sized groups. There is a driveway with parking for two to three vehicles, and also a large parking pad roadside that can accommodate another perhaps four vehicles, boat trailer, etc.
