About this property

Quiet Forest Retreat halfway between Portland and Cannon Beach

Chill out and relax in this private, converted art studio in the foothills of Oregon’s Coast Range. Private deck overlooking organic garden, greenhouse, fruit orchard and surrounded with Douglas fir, Western red cedar, elderberry and Big-leaf maple trees. Night sky viewing. Quiet walks in the country. Outdoor shower with plenty of hot water, soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Toilet has its own room with vintage, deep enamel sink just around the corner. Kitchenette with full fridge/freezer, two burner hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, French press, fresh ground coffee, creamer and sugar. Pot/pans, dishes/utensils. Lots of art supplies on the shelves to inspire your creativity. Travel/Hiking guidebooks. Watch morning deer in the orchard and a variety of birds at the feeder. I hope to make your stay relaxing and comfortable. I will do the dishes at the end of your stay and also have a washer/dryer available if needed. There are seven steps up to the studio door. The only shower is outside, located on the studio entry deck that’s fenced and curtained for privacy, faces the garden / grapevines and has plenty of hot water. Guests usually love this refreshing experience.

Trillium Ranch Studio is 35 miles from either Portland or the Oregon coast. Close to hiking/biking trails, wineries, the Tillamook Forest Center, Wilson River, Stub Stewart State Park and the Banks-Vernonia Linear Trail. Cannon Beach and downtown Portland are an hour drive from the Studio. We are located 5 miles or 4.5 miles on a county-maintained gravel road, depending on your direction of approach, either from Highway 26 or Highway 8. 1200 foot elevation. Ask about my favorite spots nearby and on the coast!

About the host

Host profile image
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I grew up in Ventura, California. Immigrated, worked and loved living in Vancouver, BC for three years before building a house here. I am a graphic designer and illustrator, had my own business in Portland for 37 years. I love hiking, swimming, kayaking, gardening, typography, drawing and nature journaling. I love to travel and enjoy meeting people from different places, backgrounds and cultures. I volunteered for four years teaching art at my granddaughter’s elementary school in Banks, Oregon. I spent 3 months last winter camping in Baja Mexico.

Why they chose this property

We are a vibrant tight-knit community up here in the foothills of the Coast Range. We all enjoy the outdoors rain and shine, gardening, being active, sharing meals and lending a helping hand. We share this place with the wildlife. It’s a safe and beautiful place to walk day or night. The night sky is always awe inspiring.

What makes this property unique

Peace and Tranquility. Surrounded by greenery. Birds and Wildlife. The outdoor shower! You can get a feel for life in a Pacific Nortwest forest. I am a true advocate for this part of the country. I love it, know it and love sharing it. Ask me for nearby kayaking, hiking, swimming, food or other out of the way excursions. I have art supplies to spur creativity. I am happy to do dishes and wash a load of clothes for you! My aim is to make your stay comfortable, enjoyable and relaxing.
