We had a great stay at Ethereal Farms. As we walked in the door, a beautiful Christmas tree met us with a warm glow. Being a moon lit evening, we took a short crisp walk, enjoying being in the middle of nowhere, enjoying nature at night. The Mill was old and rustic but comfortable and perfect. My husband enjoyed hiking in the Glenroy Preserve next door and I enjoyed the turkeys and goats on the farm. We also enjoyed a campfire with s’mores!! Laura was so sweet to visit and couldn’t be more helpful. It was the peaceful weekend that we needed. Tina & Curtis. 11/28/25-11/30/25

The setting is beautiful. We stayed in the mill. It is an old building that was remodeled. An over-all quaint experience with all the modern comforts. The stairs to the room are steep and i wouldn't recommend them for anyone elderly. My husband and 11yo loved it's rustic charm. Wish our schedule allowed more time to check out the farm and walking trails.

Photos on the VRBO website doesn't do The Mill justice! It's such a beautiful, clean and spacious space. The beds were also comfy!Added bonus were the trails and animals. The Turkeys are part of the welcome squad. Location was great -- near the Glen Roy park, Oxford and Rising Sun. 5/5 stars!

Do not stay here! Freezing cold and unkind host. One of the worst vacation rental experiences I've had out of many. The space was freezing from the moment we arrived and never warmed up, even with the heat turned up. This very old mill is not properly retrofitted to stay warm. There is no insulation under the floors, no heat in the bathroom, and holes in the floorboards that open straight to the space below. Most of the baseboard heaters did not work. The host will reply to this review to say we didn't contact her, but after arriving later than expected, we kept giving the heating system time to work, thinking it was just old and slow, and we did not want a late-night intrusion into our space. But by the morning (when we woke up freezing and checked out after a brief one-night stay, thank goodness) it was 100% clear that the space was insufficiently heated.Afterward, I asked for a very modest refund, and the host refused. Shockingly, she blamed the situation on us (“user error,”) despite the heating controls being extremely basic sliders that no one could misuse. Her response was dismissive and unprofessional. She took no responsibility for a big obvious problem.Anyone considering staying here should know that the mill may be intolerably cold and that the host doesn't care about doing what's right. I would never stay here again. The broken heating system also sounded two deafening alarms in the middle of the night, waking us up in a panic.

A nice getaway stay!

It's a rustic but very cozy place. It was very clean and was stocked with so many niceties. Very classy and just lovely. The stairs are kind of steep so you might want to take that into consideration. We walked up to the barn area and met some of the animals - the turkeys and donkeys are quite sociable and very cute! The surrounding area is bucolic. All in all, a really nice place to get away from it all.

This is a fun base for a rural Chester County getaway. Laura and James are excellent host. Laura is friendly and fast to respond to any questions. There are so many thoughtful touches throughout the property. We highly recommend The Mill. Also, be sure to visit the winery. It has a casual vibe and a beautiful outdoor setting.
