About this property
Modern Cotswold cottage (dog friendly)
Lovely 2 bedroom cottage in the peaceful village of Black Bourton, ideal for a Cotswold getaway. Private parking for up to 2 vehicles, rural walks on the doorstep and a 3 minute stroll to the local pub.
Great base to explore the area, only a short distance from the market town of Bampton (filming location for Downton Abbey) and with easy access to Burford (the Gateway to the Cotswolds), Cotswold Wildlife Park and a multitude of other villages, walks and historic sites.
The space
The cottage is detached with separate parking at the front. Space is available for 2 standard size cars, though if guests would like to avoid parking beneath the willow tree in the front yard, you may only be able to fit one!
Outdoor areas:
There is a small gravel yard at the front of the cottage, complete with picnic bench.
We also have a fenced patio area with outdoor seating for 4 at the rear.
Ground floor:
The front door opens into a small hallway with stairs leading to the first floor and a door to the left leading to an open plan living room/kitchen, the 2 areas being separated by a walnut breakfast bar.
The living room includes a 50" tv with Freesat channels and the kitchen includes all of the usual essentials - an electric oven/hob, coffee machine, washing machine and slimline dishwasher (note that a microwave is not available).
A bedroom (with double bed) and toilet are also located on the ground floor.
First floor:
The first floor consists of a second bedroom with two single beds - a second tv is also located here with Freesat channels available - and the main bathroom which is fitted with a dual digital shower and twin wash basins.
Please be aware that the first floor has reduced head height due to it's location in the roof space / sloping ceilings. This is the case in both the bedroom and bathroom.
Shared drive:
The drive is shared with our property and runs to the left of Willow cottage so you may on occasion see vehicles passing by!
Guest access:
The cottage and both front & rear yard areas are available solely for the use of our guests during their stay.
Other things to note
Pets:
Though the cottage is dog-friendly, please enquire with the host before booking if you have any other pet that you would like to bring along!
Phone signal:
Please be aware that mobile coverage in the village can be very poor. Broadband is provided so we'd advise that guests connect devices and use WiFi calling if possible.
Heating:
The property has oil-fired central heating / hot water with the boiler located externally, at the rear of the property.
Water sewerage / biological treatment system:
We are not connected to mains sewerage/drainage and the cottage instead has its own biological sewage treatment system, shared with two neighbouring houses, that is emptied regularly.
This should not have any impact on your stay, but we do ask that you avoid pouring any large volumes of fats and oils away using the sink or flushing non-biodegradable products down the toilet (such as sanitary/kitchen towels, nappies, baby wipes, cotton buds etc). We have provided bins in the toilets, but please don't hesitate to get in touch should you have any concerns or questions.

About the host
Hosted by Trish McIlhoney

My partner Ben and I moved to Black Bourton in 2012 and loved the area so much that we never left!
We both work for a national Charity full-time and manage the property together, along with our dog Barclay (though to be fair, he is probably more of a hindrance than a help!). We try never to take for granted the beautiful part of the world that we live in and would love nothing more than for our guests to leave feeling the same way.
