About this property
Idyllic and peaceful retreat with a pond on 20 acres, steps away from Port Bay!
You'll find a quiet setting at this comfortable home with private, pastoral views-all just steps from the fishing, kayaking, and boating that Port Bay offers. This 1,900 square foot 4 bedroom, 2 bath home is set back .1 mile from the main road and set off by thick trees. Privacy and quiet is in no shortage here!
When you are not relaxing in the natural setting of this family-sized home or spending time on Port Bay, there are plenty of area attractions close by. Take in the beauty of Chimney Bluffs and Sterling Nature Center, enjoy beer, cider, and wine tasting, take in the scent of the apple blossoms, and savor the area's plentiful roadside produce stands. Or, venture to the nearby busier lake areas of Sodus Bay and Fairhaven, or out to Rochester, Syracuse, or Finger Lakes, 1 hour away. It's also the perfect stay for Sterling's Renaissance Faire!
The property itself is stunning, with fruit trees, gardens, a pond, and 15 acres of woods. There is a walking path around the pond and a short trail cut into the woods. There is no shortage of nature to see, with regular sightings of deer, birds of all kinds, ducks, geese, and other wildlife (and while no foxes have been sighted, we have found fox tracks by the pond). The sunsets and sunrises are amazing, both at the property and at the 5-minute drive to the lake!
Inside, you'll find a comfortable living room with a smart TV, a dining room with settings for 8, and a full kitchen, stocked with ample dishes and cooking supplies, including some basic spices. There are full bathrooms both upstairs and downstairs. The home also has first floor laundry, with detergent provided.
The four bedrooms, all upstairs, have plenty of bedding options for your group's needs. There are 2 bedrooms with queen beds, one bedroom with 2 twin XL beds which can be converted to a king bed on request, and the fourth bedroom with a twin-over-full bunk bed, plus another twin bed. All bedrooms have dressers, closets, and hangers.
Property Note: this is a 20 acre, rural property and while we engage in proactive pest control, bugs (and the occasional mouse) are a part of country living, and unfortunately cannot be completely prevented. Refunds will not be given for such encounters. It is also recommended to be cautious and not stray too far from the house at night.
**I (the host) live on site in a smaller house in the back of the property, about .1 mile further up the driveway. There are significant trees and distance separating the main house from my smaller house which can be seen from the aerial shot. I fully respect your privacy and whatever level of interaction you desire!

About the host
Hosted by LindaBeth Nichols

I grew up in Rochester, NY and now I split my time between scenic Port Bay and Los Angeles.
Why they chose this property
The property is beautiful and an uncommon find. I love hearing the birds and watching the garden grow, and taking walks to the Bay. I love that this area isn't touristy but is close to areas with tourist amenities if desired.
What makes this property unique
It's the best of both worlds - privacy in a natural setting on a large property, yet also walking distance from Port Bay. Port Bay also has advantages over other areas because it's not developed for tourism, so it's not loud, crowded, or trafficked. The home is great for a family or large group, with 2 full baths and a large dining area to be able to comfortably accommodate.
