Back again to my favorite location to stay on the river. As always, the cabin is clean and well taken care of each year. We love the view of the river and the close location to town. Thanks once again as staying at the Riverside Cabin is the best part of our trip.
Really impressed with the property. I liked how there are chairs and tables and benches in various locations around the property to enjoy the beauty of the river which is right in the backyard.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The upstairs beds were dirty, and the sheets had stains though. There were also some spider webs in really visible places like the windows that looked like they'd beeb there a while.
The location is cute, and the cabin is quaint. The owner seemed communicative. And check-in and check-out were really easy.
Hopefully the dirty bed sheets and the spider webs were just a one off.
As described, charming cabin steps from the river. The lawn allowed for great, chill reading/sunning/do-nothing vibes. Would recommend to adventures and relaxers alike for location, location. Enjoy!
My husband and I spent the long Memorial holiday weekend at this cute little cabin. It was exactly as pictured. From relaxing and watching TV to venturing out on walks and hikes it was the perfect hub for all our activities. We brought our dog Hektor with us and he made himself right at home. The view of the river was spectacular. It was fun to watch the small fishing boats go by, paddling hard against the strong current. The kitchen could have been a little bit better stocked in regards to glasses, knives and mixing bowls etc. We had to use coffee mugs or plastic cups for wine glasses but we managed. They provided a large jug of water for drinking as the water smells a bit like sulfur. We had to replace the water jug once, and Alex the property manager was quick to respond. There was a family staying at the larger home on the property coming and going so we were not completely alone. We still felt private enough that it didn't really bother us. All in all this was a nice place to stay. The area was beautiful and the sound of the river relaxing. The property was very well kept. We really appreciate and enjoyed our stay here.
Wonderful a-frame cabin about 15 yards from the river. Beautiful setting and very convenient to Klickitat. All the furnishings and things you need for a good stay. Thanks very much!
First time staying at this property and we had a great time!

We didn't get to stay
Disclaimer we didn't end up staying so I have no doubt the property is as nice as the other reviews say. However, if you are going to be late or not make it the first day, don't do the polite thing and give them the heads up. We did that thinking we wouldn't make it, but then it turns out we were able to do. But the owners had taken the place and we weren't able to use the days we paid for. I was always told to give people a heads up if there may be an issue, but that backfired with this host. After they told us the place was no longer available for the days we paid for, we were ghosted and the host stopped responding.
We enjoyed the little cabin and the closeness of the river. The air was fresh and clean so we left our windows open at night. The water does have a sulfur and mineral taste. Recommend bottle drinking water. Hope to make it back to the area in the future. The Klickitat Canyon Days was a bonus over the weekend. Thank you so much for allowing our dogs to stay too!
Great stay. Beautiful location on the river and comfortable cabin. Watch your children and pets. We did get a visiting rattlesnake on the porch. Not a big deal. We’ll be back!
The property was just what I wanted, with the Klickitat River rushing right by and the tall cliff walls on the opposite side. Watch tubers, kayakers and fisherman pass by on the water was lots of fun. Both the side patio and back deck seating areas were perfect for avoiding or catching the sun's rays throughout the day. The kitchen was well-stacked with adequate pans and staples. It was a little tight with 5 adults and an infant, but it fit our budget!
Our stay was very relaxing. The views and proximity to the river were perfect to sooth away the cobwebs of a long drive. Location was perfect for the graduation celebration at Icehouse county campground. Beds were comfortable, spiral staircase is a little tricky but functional. My aunt really enjoyed the murphy bed and sitting in a comfy chair looking throigh the window out at the river.
Had a lovely weekend at the Solomon cabin! The quirps I have for the rental experience was that the check-in/directions were pretty vague, but easy to find since it’s right down the road. Tried the keys on the wrong cabin originally-some signage could help. The smell of the water was hard to get used to- tasted fine but it was strong on the nose. Lastly, the wood stove was out of service which was a slight bummer but the climate control worked fine so there was no issues temperature-wise. I would highly recommend it- very tranquil and relaxing backdrop from the cabin.
Quiet, Secluded, Peaceful, all the things I needed. Beautiful setting.
A bit confusing to find. Suggestion would be to give a name (Riverside Retreat or Riverside Cabin), make signage and put on the Cabin, facing the road and on under the Birdhouse, on the Fence with an arrow. Wonderfully quiet and peaceful which my soul I needed. We were two women in our mid 70s. Climbing the spiral staircase was difficult. VERY thankful for the murphy bed on the main floor. Loved sitting on the patio and listening to the water and the birds. Would definitely reserve again. My friend lives on the other side of the state and we meet once a year for a "girl's weekend". At this stage in our lives this was a NEEDED retreat. We both said we would come again. My friend's husband likes to fish. She thought she might bring him there. Thank you for sharing with us you beautiful Riverside Retreat.
Wasn’t given an address but just to pick up keys at local market- which closes at 9 btw. Got keys but didn’t know where to go after that so had to stop at local bar and lucked into a waitress that knew the name of the cabin and showed us where it was. Beautiful location, home and scenery once there. Need more clear instructions for check in process
This cabin is perfect for a get away. The river is so close to the cabin that when you are sitting on the couch you can't see the shoreline. White water rafters occasionally pass by and wave. Things to know: there is a really nice small flat screen TV in the living area (the one in the pictures has been replaced), the owner replaced the pots and pans with some nice non-stick copper cookware, the beds are pretty comfortable, not melt your life away pillow luxury, but they are not bad. No dishwasher and no cell reception, but there is a land line phone for emergencies and the Wi-Fi is great. The only real bummer is likely a tough one for the owner to do something about: there is a very heavy smell of sulfur from all the running water. So do your best to pretend you are in a hot springs when you shower and it wouldn't hurt to pack some nice smelling lotion to cover the smell on your skin. There is no dishwasher, so you will also experience the intensity of the smell when you clean up the kitchen. The fridge filter is great for drinking water. Besides the riverfront view there are plenty of chairs to sit outside and a nice sandy shore and grass area for a blanket picnic. My favorite little touch is a hummingbird feeder outside the living room window so when you aren't watching the water, you can enjoy the frequent tiny beauties. We only had one problem. The septic tank alarm went off for about an hour starting at 10pm and there is no emergency contact information for the caretaker so we were a bit worried about having a long night. The only number is for the Canyon Market, and they close at 9pm. We were lucky to have ear plugs with us and very thankful it stopped on it's own. The store returned our voice message the next morning, but no one ever came to check on it and thankfully it didn't go off again. Overall a wonderful stay.

About the host

We love mountains, rivers, and wildlife. Our son and family live in White Salmon. Our home is in Zillah, WA. We're retired from public education jobs. Our daughters also work in education in the Spokane area. We enjoy our cabin on the scenic, beautiful Klickitat River.
Why they chose this property
We think the Columbia Gorge is such a beautiful area and it is close to our son and his family.
What makes this property unique
We watch the wild turkeys, blue jays, bald eagles and deer come around the cabin. We have fun rafting and boating the river, as well as fishing. It is fun to hike and walk in the canyon. RV site available but no sewer; there is electricity and water but amps are probably not enough for an air conditioner.
