About this property

Rent for 1 or 2 weeks. Our cottage is part of a quiet cottage owners' community, perfect for a relaxing week at the beach. Enjoy a beautiful beach and Lake Michigan with awesome views and sunsets from the large deck! (See pics!)
The cottage is a smoke free environment. Sorry, but pets are not allowed. Capacity limit is six people due to water capacity (well & septic) and wear on this private home. The cottage is owner occupied approx. 1/2 of the summer.
We're in a great location - on a private stretch of beach only 1 mile north of the popular town of Pentwater. As you can see from the pictures, the cottage is high on a dune. There are sliding glass door windows on two sides looking West out onto the deck and to the lake for a very tree-top feel and great views. This cottage is not for you if you cannot manage stairs. Like all cottages on the dunes, there are a lot of stairs to get to the beach. Inside, there is a great room and a large dining room table for family meals/ games/ cards, etc. The cottage is 2 levels- There are 2 bedrooms and full bath on the main floor, plus 2 bedrooms and full bath upstairs which makes it ideal for a single family, or for 2 couples.
Swimming in clear water, sandy bottom and the endless walking beach can't be surpassed. It is about a mile walk to town.

Saturday check out is before 11:00am and check in is after 4:00pm.
The Pentwater area has lots to do in addition to the beach: golf, tennis, many shops, restaurants, mini golf, go-carts, ice cream, movies, and is just north of Silver lake with its amazing sand dunes and dune rides!

Absolutely beautiful setting

And it’s all about the beach. Lots of stairs, good for your quads. Very comfortable and accommodating for all of us, with lots of beach toys for the kids, and a kayak for the grown-ups. Sorry we had to leave.

Lovely beach - fabulous sunsets

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Pentwater. The cottage is homey and comfortable. The beach is fabulous (if you don't mind steps!) The sunsets and views from the deck can't be beat -- assembling to view (and photograph) the sunset was our evening ritual. Our adult sons loved riding the dunes at Silver Lake.

Fantastic as always

This is our third year renting this cottage so if you want you can read my review from last year which has all the details. We loved it so much last year we rented it for two weeks this year. This year was exceptional also! The most beautiful views all day and the most beautiful sunsets you’ll ever find in Michigan. Owners are every responsive, cleanliness top notch, beds comfortable and full kitchen. Great memories made for my family!

Quiet and Secluded getaway

Wonderful Beach Getaway

This cottage has everything. The beach was really beautiful and enjoyed many walks in both directions. Enjoyed the Pentwater shops and experienced a few stand up comedians at the Village Pub one evening. Our host Sue communicated with us regarding some impending weather coming which was most appreciated. Sue, love this cottage and the peacefulness we experienced on our vacation. Actual Stay Greater than the Anticipation

Sue's cottage was very tastefully decorated and comfortable with all of the amenities. There is an excellent sandy beach that was nice for walks both going south about a mile to Mears State Park and Pentwater as well as to the north. In addition to our daily Lake Michigan swims, a kayak was provided that we used frequently. At nearby Silver Lake State Park we had fun driving our ATV on the dunes. We grilled dinner most nights on the deck while chatting before beautiful sunsets over the lake framed by treetops surrounding the deck. The steps to the beach were not difficult for us, and comfortable beach chairs and umbrellas were provided. Sue is an excellent and gracious owner and answered any questions promptly.

Perfect vacation spot in Pentwater

Everything about this cottage is perfect for our family. The kids and most of the adults loved the beach which is sandy and the water was perfect temperature for swimming. The owners provide many beach items including chairs, beach towels, umbrellas. Getting to the beach is challenging for elderly due to the stairs but they still enjoyed the views from the deck. The cottage itself has everything you need in regards to bedding, towels and kitchen supplies. The beds are comfortable and the cottage was very clean. We spent most of our time on the deck overlooking beautiful lake Michigan from sunrise to sunset. The town of Pentwater is precious and so many things to do in town. The owners are extremely prompt in their communication. We have rented other cottages in Pentwater and this truly is the best so far. This is the second year we have rented and will continue to rent the same Cottage because it is perfect for us.

Fun Family Time in Pentwater, MI

The cottage was in very good shape, very comfortable, and included all the necessary amenities and more. There was plenty of room for the 6 adults in our family group. The view was wonderful and the sound of the waves on the beach was very pleasing while relaxing on the deck and the sunsets were amazing! The beach was very nice and larger than we expected. It was quite comfortable with the beach chairs. The cottage is conveniently located with much to do within a 10 to 15 minute drive.

Great Stay

Property is just north of Pentwater. Long walks on the beach both North and South (all the way to the State Park). Beach very clean. Steps down were not a problem for our group. Plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas for our use. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking, serving, and clean up items. Sue was very attentive to questions and made our check-in simple. We all enjoyed the great weather and surrounding areas. Would strongly recommend this property for others to consider. Thanks Sue.

Great beach get away

We had a wonderful week in Pentwater at the beach house. The house is large, clean and comfortable and well stocked. The stairs gave us a quite a workout, I'm not sure how much of that was mentioned in the preview but anyone not in decent shape, older or with small children will definitely have a hard time . A mattress topper would really help with at least the master bed I thought. All in all we had a great time. The beach and sunsets were gorgeous!! Thank you for having us!!

Great

We had a great week at the property. Nestled in trees, with direct view of the lake and sunsets. The house easily accommodated five adults. The beach was wide, smooth and sandy, as was the lake bottom near the shore. Easy for swimming and kayaking. There are several flights of stairs to get to the beach, but was not difficult. All was as advertised and communications with the owner were quick and efficient. We would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful views

Perfect house for a family stay. Beautiful beach and water even with the higher water levels. A few less steps going down to the beach would have been nice but I guess that's the price you pay to have a beach right now. We were there during an unusually warm week. It would have been nice to have air conditioning during the heat wave but there were plenty of fans provided.

Great Vacation

The cottage was very nice, private and quiet. This is just what we were wanting for a vacation. The weather was great. Good food and shopping just down the road in Pentwater. Very friendly people. Highly recommend booking this cottage.

Wonderful Pentwater getaway!

My family of 4 loved staying at the Eilert cottage. We had more room than we needed and my kids loved spreading out--the accommodations were great! There are a lot of steps to the beach--which is typical and expected when you find a gorgeous cottage in the dunes (and I have stayed in cottages with many more steps). The lake was extremely high this year, so there wasn't much beach, but that changes year-to-year. I've been vacationing in Pentwater for 40+ years and the beach is always different, but always amazing. The view from the deck was incredible and the lake breezes kept us cool even on the warmest days. Highly recommended!

Wonderful retreat!

Loved our week at this property. House was very well stocked with beach stuff (chairs and umbrellas, even a kayak) and household stuff (pots, cleaning supplies etc). Couple of suggestions would be some new knives (the only one that worked was a bread knife) and some beach towels. A few things to note if renting. The driveway was quite treacherous. Unpaved, full of deep pot holes and STEEP. Both our minivans required several attempts to make it up. Sounds like this may be due to the fact that a new home is being built next door and the drive may be better next year but something to consider. If you have an AWD, I recommend using it. Secondly, there are a lot of stairs to the beach (117. I counted). If I had been traveling with toddlers I wouldn’t have enjoyed carrying them up. And the lake level was so high we had very little if any beach to set up camp. That said, we would definitely go back. The owners were very helpful and we loved having so much shade with all the surrounding trees, which we wod t have had if we had fewer stairs. So I felt the walk up and down was worth it. Thanks for helping us make more great memories!

Cottage on Lake Michigan

Four friends rented the cottage for a girls’ week. The views of the lake from the deck were stunning. The location of the cottage, however, required a sturdy vehicle and stamina to go up and down lots of stairs. The lake was high, so we did not have a beach per se to use.
