Peaceful Mountain Retreat

Babbling Brook was the perfect peaceful retreat. The home offered a quiet, private location surrounded by nature, yet it’s close enough to shopping and great restaurants. We enjoyed our coffee out on the deck each morning, listening to the sounds of the stream and watching birds and squirrels in the trees in front of us. We felt safe walking the trails on the property, and our dogs loved wandering in the grass field. The hilly roads were great cardio for our morning walks! The home itself was comfortable and had plenty of amenities to make it feel like home, and even a few luxuries like that soaking tub! Communication with the host was fast and efficient. We had a wonderful relaxing vacation in the mountains!

Catatoga

The floor plan worked great for us! Location as ideal! Parking is terrible and you have to navigate a steep driveway. Only room for 3 cars. The development appears to be declining.

Beautiful Mountain Retreat

Catatoga is a beautiful community that is well maintained. We rented Babbling Brook. It was just the two of us and the dog. We walked all around the neighborhood and hiked the trails surrounding the property. Restaurants are within 5 minutes or less and convenience store was approximately 15 minutes away. Groceries were about 20 minutes away. We got to see the leaves changing and it was spectacular. We enjoyed hours of throwing the ball for the dog in the vast green area. The lake is beautiful and clean.

Peaceful Retreat

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this property. We really appreciated the design of the house: a row of widows in the living room overlooks the woods and the creek that runs behind the property. It was nice to have a glass of wine on one of the 3 decks that overlooked the creek. There is a trail within the community that leads to a waterfall. My family also enjoyed the community pool. There is only one television; however, the internet connection worked well for streaming movies or television shows on the laptop. We had everything we needed to cook or grill (there is a propane grill) some of our meals. There is a new restaurant, "The Blind Mule", just minutes from the property and the food was fantastic (I suggest making a reservation). We enjoyed driving to Cashiers and Brevard for lunch each day. The nearest full-service grocery store is 15 miles away in Cashiers. So, bring your groceries or stop by the Ingles in Cashiers. There is also a nice farmer's market in Cashiers that has prepared meal options. Otherwise, there is a new wine and cheese shop close by that carries basic supplies, meats, dips, frozen foods, etc. I would definitely recommend this home for a relaxing vacation.

Beautiful part of NC

Our family stay included 2 grandparents, 2 parents, 2 teenagers and a 2 year old. The house was clean and the bedrooms and bathrooms were set up nicely for our family. We did, however, have some things that did not suit our family. The railing on the back porch was decorative but VERY unsafe for a 2 year old. I am surprised it passed a home inspection. I would not recommend this house for a group which includes a toddler or small child. There was no outside space at the house except a steep concrete driveway. There, however, were many areas in the development that were great for kids but it did require leaving the house. The thing which we most disliked about the house was the kitchen. There were not sufficient pots, pans, mixing bowls, and etc. to cook several of the meals we had planned. There were really no supplies. I think we had 4 trash bags, enough coffee for a 4 cup pot, no supply of commonly used items. We had to spend a fortune at the grocery store and even then we forgot several items and it was too far away to keep going back every time we went to cook a meal. This is only the 2nd time our family has rented a house from VRBO but the one we rented last year the kitchen was very nicely stocked with all the pots and pans we needed and they, also, had basic cooking supplies - salt, pepper, sugar, non stick pan spray, spices, and etc. These are items that have a long shelf life and it would have been very nice to have had them supplied. The development was a beautiful area. The pool area is nice and they were doing construction in the club house but I'm sure after that is completed it will be nice. I would not count on catching fish but the use of the canoe was a plus for us. Each group has their own needs and wants in a home but for our family we do wish we would have picked a different house in the area.

Wonderful family reunion

Beautiful, clean house in serene setting. Lots of activities for adults & children at the club house. Not many people staying on other properties so we had all the amenities to ourselves. Grocery stores & restaurants are approximately 15 miles away so plan accordingly. We had a great family reunion & will definitely be back.
