About this property

Casa De La Playa is on the beach in Lochabar Bay at Clarence Town Harbor, Long Island, Bahamas within sight of nearby cays and the Flying Fish Marina in a quiet tropical setting overlooking a beautiful mile long white powder beach. This house is built at the waters edge and you can see the water from almost anywhere in the house. The covered porch and all rooms are above the tree line to catch the breezes and for fabulous views of Clarence Town Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. Three cays situated between our beach and the Atlantic Ocean reduce surges and provide us with a gently sloping, sandy beach free of currents and undertows for most of the year. The calm water and long beach make this a classic. The Lochabar Blue Hole is less than a half mile away. This is a perfect place for a tranquil and quiet vacation, yet only less than 4 miles from a number of bars & restaurants in the Clarence Town/Turnbull Area.

Awesome house in beautiful location

We had an amazing 5 night stay at this home in Lochabar. The house was even nicer than the online listing and the beach was incredible. The AC worked great, the house was spacious, laundry was a huge plus, and the outdoor shower made it easy to rinse off after a day at the beach. There is some decent snorkeling to the right of the house and you can walk along the beach to Lochabar blue hole. We bought 5gal water bottles from Erica's bakery and filled the pitchers and ice cube trays which worked great. We loved the location - close to Dean's Blue Hole, Gordon's, Galloway and many other beautiful spots. And bonus that a flock of wild flamingos lives at the pond at the end of the road! We can't wait to come back!

This is a beautiful house with everything you could ask for. The host is super responsive - we had an initial issue with wi-fi and once I contacted the host, it was fixed within the hour. Great location for short drives to some beautiful beaches, although it was hard to leave the one we were on!

A Month in Paradise

This house is located on one of the best beaches in Long Island. You are steps away from the beach with spectacular views. The house has everything you need for a comfortable vacation.The beds and pillows were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The owner was easy to reach to answer question. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Another wonderful visit

This was our family's second stay at this property and it was just as wonderful as the first. The home is clean and comfortable with all of the amenities of home. Beautiful views of the water from most rooms in the house and and great porch to relax on with wonderful breezes. The beach in front of the house is great and we went swimming every day of our visit. The addition of kayaks was awesome, and we went out several times to explore the blue hole and islands around the harbor. The location of the home can't be beat as it is near Clarence Town with restaurants and grocery shopping available. Erika's Bakery is a favorite and a must for getting freshly baked bread. The home is also conveniently located near many of the attractions on the island like Dean's Blue Hole and offers easy access to lots of beautiful beaches. I highly recommend this home for anyone considering a trip to Long Island!

The pictures do not do this rental justice! This home is beautiful and exceeded expectations, super clean and accommodating. Open the sliding doors to a few steps to beautiful water and beach. Short drive to the marina and deans blue hole. Great and easy communication with owners. This is more then a 5 star rating!

Absolutely fantastic.

The location can't be beat. The incredible view of the blue waters of Lochabar Bay is amazing. No bugs due to constant ocean breeze, super soft sand right in front of the place. Nothing not to like.

Lochabar was great!

How can you beat this? A very nice home literally a stroll from the sand and waves with spectacular views over the harbor and bay. I have been lucky enough to see some of the worlds best beaches, and this one must be a secret! Our family of four were thoroughly entertained by the endless exploring, and peace and quiet. The house was perfect in every way, and there was nothing to complain about....great place, great value and great memories....we would give this a four thumbs up!

We absolutely loved this property. It was in the best location on the island. The view out the front door was like a postcard! The house was clean and well stocked with everything we could ask for. The owner was very responsive to questions. Will definitely return!

Happy to be back!

This was our second stay at Casa De La Playa and the third is booked. Do I really need to say anymore? The house is comfortable, and the location can't be beat. Once again we started and ended our day on Lochabar beach and spent the rest exploring old and new ( to us) beaches. If you are looking for a remote, quiet place to unwind and enjoy beautiful weather, water and beaches this is it.

Wonderful return to Long Island

The location and house were wonderful! Having the house right on the beach in this protected cove made for great beach time. The all sand beach was very clean and the water was crystal clear. We enjoyed the snorkel at the blue hole right down the beach. There were sailboats out in the distance which added to our enjoyment. Every night, we were out on the porch looking at stars. The house was clean and well kept. We did not have any maintenance issues during our stay. The A/C worked great and the newly renovated bathrooms were tastefully done. All 6 people in our group rated this 5 stars and would highly recommend this house for your Long Island vacation.

Lachabar Beach

Location was great to stay on the southern portion of the island. Beach right out front, walking distance to the Lochabar Blue Hole. Beautiful view of the water, marina, and islands out front. House was clean and in great condition! All amenities present? beach chairs and kayaks were a great addition!

A perfect spot

Our family spent a week at Casa del la Playa and had an amazing time. The house is comfortable and the location can't be beat! We would start and end our days on Lochabar while heading out exploring during the days. Stefan and Crystal were very responsive and took care of all our needs. The house is air-conditioned, though there was enough of a breeze during our stay that we didn't really need it. It has beach chairs and kayaks. Our kids loved pulling the kayas out in the late afternoon when we returned for the day. Dean's Blue Hole and Gordon's Beach are a short drive away as is the grocery store. Lighthouse Point Restaurant is also close by and has the best fish tacos. Bahamas Discovery Quest Tours is a great way to spend a day on the water. All in all, this was an amazing trip and we are hoping to return to Casa de la Playa next year.

Blissful slice of paradise

Our vacation was off the charts; amazing. This home is perfectly situated & well appointed. We caught lobster, bonefish, hogfish, conch, snapper, Cubera, and Nassau Grouper. We loved Lochabar Beach! The location was perfect for exploring the island’s many treasures. Most important to us was spending time with our family, we live in a tourist destination; so, the ability to enjoy the environment without a ‘crowd’ was spectacular. We will be back!!

Pure bliss!

This Island was an incredible experience for my family. The home was perfect for our family. The views and location were ideal and the island itself is a treasure. We live in a tourist destination; so we were eager to truly ‘escape’. Stefan was responsive and helpful as were his family members. In fact, everyone we met on the island helped to make this a trip my family will remember forever. We speared fish, caught lobster, snorkeled, swam with pigs, floated down a natural lazy river, saw so much sea life, and basked in the natural beauty of this special island. As we recover from our own recent storm back home in Florida, we were especially grateful to witness the resilient spirit of the people here who were happy to share their favorite places with us during our visit. From the sweet neighborhood dogs to the well appointed home, we feel incredibly blessed to have stayed here to reset our family’s sense of well being. Thank you Stefan!!

The Perfect Getaway!

Where do I start? My family of 6 (including 4 kids ages 7-19) had a wonderful time staying at Casa de la Playa on Lochabar Harbor! It was our family's first time visiting Long Island, and the home, and the island did not disappoint. The house was as described in the listing, very clean and comfortable. It had plenty of space for our family, and everything we needed to be comfortable during our stay. The wifi and tv worked great and kept the kids occupied in the evenings after returning from our adventures. The kitchen is spacious, well stocked, and had beautiful counter tops. Again, the house was very clean, and we did not see any bugs or spiders in the house (which was extremely important to us)! The view from the deck is amazing! We spent many mornings drinking our coffee out there just enjoying the sunrise. The beach, just a few steps away, is also great, the kids several times opted to go back and swim at "our" beach rather than go search for another new one. We did see crabs, conch, and a turtle right there in front of the house. We also walked down to the Lochabar Blue Hole, which, while not as deep as Dean's, was still beautiful (and a bit eerie). We were blessed to see the local flock of flamingos every day of our trip. They were hanging out in the salt pond directly across the Queen's Highway from the road to the property, usually in the mornings. We also saw the flock fly over Lochabar Harbor one evening, even looping around a couple of times-lovely! We visited many places on the island, but were always happy returning to this wonderful home. We did take a tour with Bahamas Discovery Quest, which was our favorite day of our whole trip. Charles and Teresa Knowles took us through the mangroves, flats to search for conch, over to Sandy Cay (Exuma), and cooked a delicious island feast for us on a deserted beach with breathtaking sandbars. If you have the opportunity to go on a tour with them, do it! I cannot recommend Long Island, or this home, highly enough. If your family is looking for a comfortable, clean home base during a visit to Long Island, look no further!

Beautiful home and location.

We spent 5 nights at this house in April. The beach is beautiful and great for long walks. The house is well built and a beautiful design. The wood ceilings and moldings are so pretty. This family of five was very comfortable there. The owner is new to the rental scene and knows he has a few changes to make. A few beach or lounge chairs would be a nice addition. But all in all, it’s a great rental at a reasonable price.

I grew up in the Settlement of Mangrove Bush, Long Island where I completed Primary and Secondary School. I then went to University and graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. I currently live in Nassau and visit Long Island at least once a month.

Why they chose this property

This house was designed and built by myself with the help of my construction team. My father purchased this property in the early 1970's and I've spent many holidays/weekends on Lochabar beach and fishing in the Harbour. I've also spent many days sailing in the harbour with friends and family either for fun or during the various regattas that are held here on holiday weekends. I decided to build my home in Lochabar because of the nice ocean breeze, the quietness, peace and of course the beach! You will enjoy your stay!

What makes this property unique

The views from the Living/Dining Rooms, Kitchen and Master Bedroom are breath taking. You can relax on the porch and listen to the waves gently wash up on the beach. You can also listen to the various species of birds sing their choruses.
