About this property

The little cabin that could…

Catskills Cutie in the heart Bethel Woods village Forest Reserve in the hamlet of Smallwood. 5.5 miles from the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts music venue where Woodstock took place in 1969. You’ll find hiking, biking trails, waterfalls, 4 lakes, 2 large fenced in dog fields for small and large dogs, plenty of spots to sit back and have a picnic. I’ve put a lot of love into this cabin and will continue to add to that. It’s very beautiful and peaceful here. Stay awhile.
The space
My cabin is small in stature but big in personality and the best use of a small space. It has a big open space that is kitchen, living room and bedroom with a queen bed. I have a smaller bedroom with bunk beds that has a heavy curtain for privacy. Small bathroom shower only. There is a four season back porch which accommodates the dining area, writing/music area and a twin daybed for another sleeping area. There is a large deck out front with a picnic table, BBQ grill and string lights. I have a new fire pit in the backyard with 4 bright red modern Adirondack chairs, another BBQ grill and string lights. The backyard is quite large, it goes out to the main road in the neighborhood. You’re in walking distance to the neighborhood waterfalls, hiking trails, lake and fenced in dog parks. I have pretty much anything you would need regarding kitchen items. My place can accommodate 4 people if you don’t mind not having privacy as there is a queen bed, bunk bed, twin daybed and a couch. 2 adults only for privacy loving folks. For a family I would say it’s fine for 2 adults and 2-4 small children.

History: My cabin was built in 1937. When I bought it a year ago, June 2023, it looked nothing like what you will see today but I saw the potential. I have tried to maximize the use of a small space making it a welcoming haven for guests and myself to have a getaway.

In America a red front door holds the historical significance of meaning people are welcome at the homes that host a painted door. Travellers were welcome to rest and have a meal.

All are welcome here. 🌈 ☮️

*Note: There are 2 fire extinguishers and a first aid kit in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Under the cabinets you will find round lights you can tap for some under counter light.

*Note: There are cameras on the outside of the cabin front & back. They came with the place when I bought it. They are not in use & won’t ever be while I am a host.
Guest access
Parking in front driveway, the entire cabin, deck & back yard.
Other things to note
Coffee ☕️ you like it? I love it. I have a pour over Chemex with natural filters, French press, espresso machine, bean grinder, milk frother, cinnamon. There are a couple of types of coffee beans & Ryze mushroom coffee here at the moment but feel free to bring your favorite beans. 🫘 The best way to enjoy is on the deck, kicked back listening to nature and taking it all in, in my opinion.

Neighborhood stuff:
Bethel Dog Park located 6 blocks away from my cabin at: 50 Golf Park Rd. You can walk or drive there and park. You will find 2 fenced in dog parks, a walking/running/biking trail and an outdoor workout gym.

Bethel Forest Reserve:
The waterfalls you see in some of my photos are located at the corner of Mt Lakes Rd and Mohican Trail. There are hiking trails there as well.

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts music venue: Located at 200 Hurd Rd, Bethel NY. It’s exactly 10 minutes or 4 miles away from my cabin.

Some restaurants, grocery & liquor store in the area:

Bethel Market Cafe: Great spot for breakfast/brunch/lunch/bakery items. (Bethel)

Forestburgh General Store: Great sundries store for a coffee, craft beers/cider/food/snacks. (Forestburgh)

White Lake Liquor 4 minutes down the road.
ShopRite (Monticello) for all grocery needs.

Sweet Basil Thai (Liberty)
Albella Italian (Monticello)
Gaby’s Mexican (Ellenville)

Deer Mountain Inn: Beautiful inn for craft cocktails, charcuterie or dinner. (Tannersville)

Forestburgh Tavern: Check their website for drag show cabaret performances and live music. I left a flyer under the magnet on the side of the refrigerator.

Villages to dine & check out if you have time to while you’re in the area:
Callicoon 17 miles West of me so it’s close for brunch and distillery.
Narrowsburg: antique shops, bridge over the Ohio River that is NY on one side and PA on the other. Very picturesque.
Woodstock: You have to go to Woodstock. :)
Hudson: Antique shops galore & great dining.
Rhinebeck: Full of quaint shops & nice restaurants.
Palenville to see Kaaterskill Falls is a must!

Retreat from the heat
I felt welcomed the moment I walked through the front door of Amie’s cabin. It was equipped with everything we needed and Monticello is just minutes away for groceries, etc. I recommend The Bethel Market Cafe and Friends if you’re looking for good places to dine out. My husband and I (and Westie) really enjoyed the quaint hamlet of Smallwood and the friendly “wildlife”. Coming from Florida, it was such a treat to sit outside and soak up the cool air of the Catskills and watch the neighborhood deer wander through the yard. I hope to have the opportunity to stay again someday. Thank you, Amie!

I love being a host! I enjoy making my guests feel welcome and that they had a special time in a beautiful, relaxing, peaceful retreat in the Catskill mountains. It’s so special here.

Why they chose this property

I was just a girl living in Brooklyn with a dream for 10 years of buying property in the Catskills. I finally made that dream come true!

What makes this property unique

It’s a log cabin built in 1937 in such a historically special place in the Catskill Mountains where Woodstock took place in 1969. Be ready to be surrounded by nature, birds singing, deer in the yard and so much calm.
