Charming Writer's Cottage in the Heart of Middleburg

Come and stay, be inspired, write a best seller or spend a cozy weekend shopping and dining in the heart of Virginia horse country.

From this fully updated 1820 historic home that was once the dormitory for the original Middleburg Academy, you can walk to many fine restaurants, and enjoy premier shopping and antiques. The only known fully permitted historic vacation property actually in the Old Town of Middleburg!
The downstairs features a nicely appointed furnished living room that includes cable television, comfortable seating, with an adjoining half bath; a stately tavern room that disguises a home office with full internet access and a working Royal Deluxe typewriter that Ernest Hemingway would surely envy; and an eat-in kitchen with all necessary cooking items, adjoining a door to the deck and spacious back yard.
The upstairs features a large bedroom with a very comfortable Queen-sized bed adjoining an over-sized full bath with a walk-in shower. This home is ready for you to enjoy - stay a while - use the typewriter!! Begin the story . . . . .

Great Stay

Our stay in this delightful cottage was very pleasant indeed. Comfortable and generous furnishings and amenities made for a very homely experience. Cottage location right in the charming township of Middleburg was a real plus. Easy walking distance to all the town's unique features and good off-street parking made car access really easy. The owner's information documents were really helpful too. We greatly enjoyed our stay!

Easy stay

Stayed in town for a wedding. Really convenient: off street parking, right on the edge of town so both quiet but walkable, clean home with a nice yard. Host was clear and communicative. Would recommend!

Charming Writer's Cottage

Communication with the owner was very good the whole step of the way. The cottage was clean and charming. It was a very short walk into town where there were quaint little stores. The cottage felt like you were going back a little in history, but in a enjoyable way. We felt very comfortable. The kitchen was small, but who cooks when they are on vacation anyway. It was plenty big for our morning breakfast. The bathroom and bedroom occupied the whole upstairs and worked for my wife and I getting ready in the morning. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. It was close to everything we wanted to do.

Enjoyed my stay

Writers Cottage is charming as well as the owners. I stayed for Christmas and they even left presents under a tree for me and my pet. That was such a peasant surprise. Middleburg is a beautiful town.

Cute house perfect for a coupld

My wife and I stayed at this adorable historic property and really loved the location, town, and property. This is a very historic home with lots of old world charm. Don't rent this house if your looking for the latest amenities and renovations. Stay at this property if your looking for a home that embraces the rich history and character of Middleburg!

Wonderful cottage and great location

The pictures show the cottage off well. It is very comfortable and wonderfully decorated. The location is right off Main St so we walked and didn’t have parking issues. Lots of parking behind the house. Love this place and will be back!

Charming Cottage

This Middleburg Writers Cottage is located just off main street on the edge of town. It's just a short walk to shops & restaurants. The cottage is quaint (beams, beautiful wood floors, etc.), bright (lots of windows), comfortable, nicely decorated, and includes guest amenities (coffee, shampoo, conditioner, etc.). We appreciated the easy checkin and strong WiFi. Our dog appreciated the big, fenced yard. Michael is quick to respond to messages and provides helpful information. We definitely recommend staying here.

Perfect for a Mini-Honeymoon

My wife and I wanted to do a quick getaway from DC immediately after our wedding instead of flying somewhere. This was the perfect place for our mini-moon. The house is exactly as described and exactly what we were looking for. You can easily walk the entire town and it's an easy 20 minute walk to Salamander resort for a spa day. We didn't use our car once in 3 days. Michael was great with communication and even left a bottle of wine for us (and treats for our dog). Couldn't have asked for a better reset after our wedding and we are already looking to do another trip here. Thanks for everything, Michael!

Perfect getaway

Lovely little cottage within walking distance to shops & restaurants in Middleburg! We enjoyed dinner @ King Street Oyster House and Thaiverse, walking the dog to coffee each morning, and exploring the shops & wineries! Thank you for a lovely stay!
