Beautifull house right on the river couldn’t have asked for more
The house and views of the river and mountains were spectacular walk right out to a beach on the river five minutes from kernville. Looking forward to another stay loved every minute
We booked a last minute spring break to to Kernville, with a central event of a full day rafting trip. It was our first trip to the Kern river as life long Californians. We were so happy to find this gem to make our base camp. The home was perfect for our family of four, all the basic necessities, clean, and beautiful property. We would definitely come back and stay again. Thank you!
We love the mountain fresh air and the forest area and Kernville is a perfect mountain town to enjoy these features, and one of the best vrbo rentals in kernville would be the little river house it is very accommodating very clean and the host is always responsive to any needs. The location of the home is perfect close to trails, town and the river is right outside the back patio which also a great spot to enjoy. Always looking forward for another visit. THANKS MARIO AND LINDA
We are a family of three, with our pup, visiting Kernville for the first time. What a beautiful area! It is definitely a peaceful, quiet and a friendly community, especially in the winter months. We enjoyed easy access to hiking and the National park as well as the local brewery and cafe. The hosts have done a terrific job of creating a lovely home with plenty of space and well-appointed rooms. We really enjoyed the rockers on the back porch and staring at the night sky. I definitely recommend!
What a gem! This home and property are beautiful and the owners were great communicators! This was our first time in the area and Karin was so helpful and shared many tips about the area to enhance our stay. The house is lovely - clean and stocked with everything you need. The outdoor spaces are spectacular with an outdoor eating level and lounging area on the first level and another relaxing area on the second level. We enjoyed walks along the river pathway, the private beach, and flyfishing directly in front of the property! We will be back!
Everything about this house was fantastic. It's beautiful online but the pictures don't do it justice. The inside of the house was clean, spacious, updated, and comfortable. The owners even include wonderful little touches like mini Kind bars, backpacks, and headlamps for guests to use. Location wise, the house felt very peaceful and private but was still close to town. Overall, we couldn't have asked for anything more!
PROPERTY HAS A GREAT LOCATION IN KERNVILLE CA. THE RIVER HOUSE IS WELL EQUIPED VERY CLEAN AND RELAXING THE RIVER IS RIGHT IN THE BACKYARD A FEW STEPS FROM THE HOUSE AND THE AREA IS VERY QUIET.
When looking for a cabin to rent on the Kern River we could only hope for a place that was as great as the pictures posted…this is that place!! It is even better than the pictures. The River Cabin had all that is needed to have a clean, comfortable stay. The proximity to town made this stay very convenient. The grocery store, which is 5 minutes down the road had everything you could need. From your fishing license to one of the best ribeye steaks ever grilled. Karin, the Host was quick to answer the phone. The attention to detail and the pride of ownership was everywhere in the cabin and the three levels outside to where we could just be able to sit and listen to the river and relax. We plan on staying here in the future. A helpful hint is to look through every cabinet and closet to find all equipment and supplies available to you. We went to the store twice for coffee Kcups when there is a drawer literally full of them!
We had the best time at the cabin! Since the start of the pandemic, my partner and I have been staying at a lot of rentals with our dog and my sister and her partner. We all agreed this was by far the best one we’ve stayed at. Loved how clean everything was and so many thoughtful touches by the owner that made the cabin even more cozy. We had such a great time fishing and hiking!! Make sure to check out Kernville brewery for yummy beers. Will definitely come back again!
We loved our stay at this rental. The place looked like it was just built and it has a very stylish aesthetic that compliments the river side scenery. The inside of the rental was also beautifully and meticulously furnished with all the trappings you would need for a AAA river getaway. The kitchen is very spacious for cooling your own meals with everything you would need and the Weber gas bbq on the outside patio came in handy for some grilled meats. A short stroll to the riverside or about a 5 minute walk to Bubble Beach this place was the perfect location for our family that wanted to getaway from the city and hang at the river. Highly recommended we’ll be back!
Everything you could ask for or need here. A comfortable, spacious, well-equipped house. We love staying here and will keep coming back!! Thank you Karin, for everything!!
I can't say enough good things about this property! Home is darling and comfortable with a great kitchen. The views of the hills and the river are beautiful with nice decking and outside areas to enjoy the outdoors. The owners were very responsive and welcoming. This is a perfect set up for a small family or 2 couples.
We hope to come back again soon!

This property is amazing. Shortly after arriving, we were already discussing when we could visit again! As nice as the photos are, they don’t capture the high ceilings, spaciousness, and comfort of the home. The home has private river frontage and the river views from the home are stunning . The home is perfectly located. A short drive 5 min from downtown Kernville for convenience yet far away enough to be surrounded by nature. We can’t wait to return to this special place.

About the host
Hosted by Karin Josif
Although we currently live in Kernville full time, we used to live and work in the Los Angeles area. For the past 35 years, we always enjoyed bringing our children and our dogs here. Even though our kids are grown now, we still enjoy gathering here as a family. We love all of the outdoor activities this area has to offer, especially hiking, biking, whitewater rafting and kayaking.
Why they chose this property
We spent our honeymoon here 35 years ago, and purchased our first piece of property. Camping here when our kids were babies is one of our favorite memories. We grew to love the beauty of the area. There is so much opportunity for all kinds of outdoor activities, with plenty of time left for relaxation. We always wanted a place right on the river. We purchased this cabin in 2007 and have since done a complete renovation, both inside and out. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. This property is just a 3 hour drive from the Los Angeles area and 45 minutes from Bakersfield.
What makes this property unique
The obvious benefit to this property is its location. It offers the amazing sound and view of the river, with the backdrop of beautiful mountains. You will be able to access many activities just by walking outside. Bring your swim suit, fishing pole, book and cooler and spend the day at the beach that is just steps out the back door. Drive 3 miles into town, walk around the antique shops and grab a bite to eat at one of several restaurants. One of our favorite things to do is take the dogs for a hike each morning on one of many hiking trails.
